Look to the east young man from whence your forefathers came. See the endless rolling waves and cutting wind. Peer into the distance to find the mystery of the depths which keeps the secrets of a life long past. Over that side, eventually, is the the home country.

Yet you stand here because of the journey made. Someone past spurred simply by a hope that passing through the waters would provide a better life.

Overall an easy walk, lots of look out points. Would do again.

The trail itself is boring. Only the final point at cliff worth this whole way to walk.
Bicycle riding is possible.

There is a fine parking lot. You can have a washroom break here. I won't recommend to stay in the parking lot at night as there is no light.

It's a 4-hour return walk with an amazing view at the middle point. Do-able in regular clothing. It is very windy at the end of Cape Split, so make sure you bring a coat or something to explore the cliffs without getting too cold: when we were here, it was 25 degrees, but the wind made it feel like 15!

Clean, quiet, almost surreal from the entire drive in to the top of cape split and let's not forget the intense workout getting to Amethyst Cove

Beautiful location, shame it was raining and overcast when I visited. Plan for a nice day as the views are amazing (according to pictures haha).

Just love this place. Trail is great and always someone new to meet and chat with. No matter the season, just layer up for changing conditions. Will return again and again

It took approx 90 minutes for each side and the view from top was worth every step.
It’s good if you take something like a bar/candy or anything sweet to eat and a water bottle.
It will be windy on the top so having a wing breaker is advisable.
Over all nice well maintained trail.

Beautiful well-maintained trail that is an easy hike with an amazing view and area to explore at the end.

Took us about 3 hours to do the full loop, including about half an hour at the end for a break and mini breaks at each lookout.

Walked the new part of the trail. A great hike and the best view at the end that keeps us coming back every year!
29 September 2022 12:58
Great loop trail with good washroom facilities. Excellent for experienced trail runners or beginner hikers alike!

Talk about a long walk! There are 2 trails that take you to the end. The Minas basin trail is the more scenic IMO and is 6.2 km one way. The trails are easy to moderate.

The view at the end is great. It can get windy so take a jacket if you plan to spend time there.

There is a washroom only at the start where the car park is.

Pretty good hike. Long, definitely long. Lots of lookouts, and the final arrival at the end is stunning. You definitely want hiking boots and lots of water/snacks. Took about 4hrs worth of walking, lots of ups and downs, but the trail is pretty well maintained, just wet in some parts.

Great hike, lots of parking space, outhouses at the beginning of the trail and partway up the trail.
15 August 2022 6:25
Really good hiking. Make sure you bring enough water and a sandwich or two to keep your energy levels up!

Hike there toke 2.5hr and way back 1.75hr

Very long trail with two good look offs! Did not see lot of birds or animals! Went during the month of may!
05 August 2022 4:07
Well-maintained trail that was challenging enough to feel like we had exercise that day. Absolutely stunning views at the end.

Beautiful trail, about 12kms total, easily accessible. Beautiful lookout on the way and nice ending with a beautiful view of the ocean. Tons of space to enjoy a nice picnic. I recommend!

A fun trail to kill an afternoon. Muddy in sections and construction is taking place at the time of typing this adding a looping section.
27 August 2021 8:40
Loved it! I’ll keep doing it a few times a year. I can’t wait to see the new loop trail when ya done. Please be sure to keep your pups on a leash, there are a lot of birds and if your dog takes off after one you’ll never see them again

4 hours round trip, its a destination hike, wicked views at the end, not a tough hike but a lot of up and down. Take some "Summit" beverages for the end.
31 January 2021 18:54
The trail itself is not so difficult, the round-trip is approx. 12km. Most of the trail is walk through the trees, but the view at the end of the trail is absolutely gorgeous. The cliffs can be very dangerous if you have a dog, please be careful!

A very long, tiresome hike. Once I got to the end, it was worth it. I regret going later in the day. It was dark on the way back and cold. Definitely go prepared. I was not properly prepared for this.

Best, most rewarding hike we've been on! Wear proper footwear and bring layers of clothes (it's cooler and windy at the end of the trail), be sure to plan accordingly! This trail takes at least 3-4 hours minimum (that's a quick walking pace) - be sure to go well before sunset.
We brought sandwiches and waters and had lunch at the end of the trail. Most beautiful view.

A 12km (6km there and back) trail is a suprisingly easy hike for the average person. Most of the trail is through woods and has only moderate inclines. You don't get much of a view until the end when you come to a grassy knoll with a steep cliff on 3 sides. The view offers a unique panoramic view of the Bay of Funday, Minas Basin, and Chinecto.

This was a great hike. The trail is pretty easy going, though there are some hills. This trail would be accessible to most hikers. The forest is a mixture of hard and soft woods. The view at the end is worth the walk. We did the whole trail is a little over 3 hours.
13 December 2020 18:58
Beautiful hike leaves were still beautiful and not a breath of wind at the Cape. Washroom in a couple of kms was discussing. Tissue over the floor, no tissue to use or sanitizer.
08 November 2020 4:29
Beautiful scenic view after a long, but hard, beautiful hike. Well maintained trail. Well placed restrooms but need more further back.
14 October 2020 4:51
I brought it down a star only because the trail was fairly narrow in places, which made social distancing impossible. I also had to keep pushing my dog off the trail to allow others walking in the opposite direction to pass us. It was a beautiful day and there were lots of people so this got quite frustrating after a while. However, the hike was fantastic and the view at the end was worth the effort.
