I have contracted with Case for three major renovation projects: exterior fences, landscaping and general fixing up of my backyard: carving an accessible bathroom and guest room from existing space in my house; and doing a massive repair and reconstruction on the exterior of my house. In all of the projects, the work was excellent, everyone I dealt with was competent, helpful and kind, and Case was great at following up on issues that arose after the work was completed. I was very happy with the results, would recommend them to others, and would work with them again.

Contacted Case to discuss exploring commissioning a drawing for an addition on my house which could then be followed by construction if budget and land constraints permitted. My information was instead shared with a different company (archadecks) who contacted me. When I clarified what I was looking for I was told they don't do that. Misleading since I thought I was reaching out to a design company but turns out they and their sibling companies are all-in-one construction model only.

****Buyer Beware****
I contracted CASE to renovate my ~900ft2 basement in 2020 and the project was a complete a failure. I called the project off in 2022 after two years of disappointment and frustration.

High Level Issues (with additional information below)
• Safety Incidents: They offer money with a Non-Disclosure Agreement to cover their mistakes & they do not follow proper safety procedures
• Project Startup: lack of communication & extremely late
• Design: Changes in design take a long time, design changes not communicated to the field, no assessment of design change impacts
• Extra Work: Overpriced & estimators not familiar with what they are pricing

Project Startup:
They advised me that the work would start 6-8 weeks after signing the contract, it took over 12 weeks before they started, and nobody was willing to communicate with me as to why there were delays or advise me when they would start the work upon multiple requests for updates.
Finally, the Project Manager reached out and told me that the work would start but would be with limited manpower at the beginning.

Addendums & Design:
I asked for the design of the fireplace to be re-done to allow for an insert, sent them the specs for the insert and advised them that the design/mantel needs to be adjusted to accommodate new clearances. It took them 10 weeks to get back to me with four stock photos of different mantels. I ultimately had to complete the design myself supply CASE with the drawings as they made no progress as they had no interest in doing the work.

I asked for extra work installing resilient channel. They quoted me extremely high for the installation which worked out to be fastening 15 screws an hour, so I challenged their pricing, and they dropped their price significantly after that. So, beware that their estimating practices are wrong and if you are not checking their pricing, you are possibly being overcharged.

At the beginning of the design process, I sent them my specifications & dimensions for the appliances for their design. They managed to mix it up somehow and cabinets were not installed to the right dimensions, needing to be removed/re-built and installed.

Their drafter suggested changes to the swing of a door, we agreed on the change but CASE forgot to update the electrical drawings causing switches to be installed wrong and needing to be relocated after drywall was completed.

Safety Incidents:
Once they started working on re-routing the hot water baseboard heating system, they opened a valve on my boiler to my garage (which was not in their scope of work). This zone was closed at the boiler and the valve wheel was removed so it couldn’t be opened as it was drained and left open in the garage to prevent freezing. When the valve was opened at the boiler by CASE it started to spray boiling water throughout my garage damaging the property being stored in there during the renovation. They did not perform a job hazard assessment or implement a lock out, tag out procedure when working on live pressurized boiler.
The Project Manager admitted fault and committed to working with me to compensate the losses without insurance (i.e, a negotiated credit on my project).

Months go by after we cleaned it up ourselves and disposed of the damaged items as discussed with the Project Manager and finally the Director of Construction agreed to meet with me at my house 3-4 months after the incident occurred and ultimately told me I was a liar, took no responsibility for the incident, advised me that the project manager does not have the authority to make these decisions and offered us $750.00 credit subject me to me signing a disclaimer to not publish on any media negative remarks about CASE…. Which we rejected because people need to know what type of company this is and the employees they have.

All in all, a very disappointing renovation.

We knew we needed a design/build firm for our complete kitchen remodel in Summer 2021. We have a 70+ year old home and had never done major work before. This was not just some cabinet refacing! The CASE design team listened to our needs and helped us prioritize them and put together amazing options to choose from that fit our budget. The office is welcoming and we always felt valued and in control during the contract process.

The project started on time and was completed when they said it would be. We lived in the home during the renos (and were working from home!) and were really impressed with the professional team. The plans were well documented and communicated to all tradespeople, we had a project manager ensuring people were on site when they were supposed to be and let us know when not to expect anyone. The owner also checked in to make sure the project was going smoothly. The job site was kept clean, taking away debris immediately and protecting the rest of the house (which is so important when you need to remain in the home!). We were basically never needed for anything once the plans were finalized, which gave us peace of mind to focus on our work and family.

We really feel that we saved ourselves a ton of aggravation by choosing a full-service renovation company; just about everyone involved in the project, which the exception of a couple of subcontractors, is employed by CASE and is therefore accountable to each other to make sure the work is done right.

The agreed design mockup looks exactly like our finished product and we would absolutely hire them again. Thank you CASE team!

Case renovated my bathroom - new toilet, BIG shower, and closet. When asked if all was satisfactory my response was: I Love it! Any query I had was answered quickly and all the folks who, from initiation to finish, contributed to the renovation were professional and were a pleasure to have in my home.

From the initial meeting with sales, to the design renderings to the completion of our bathroom renovation, we never for an Instant had second thoughts about choosing Case Design for our incredible transformation. Our bathroom is small and the space we have has never been properly utilized – until now!

The Case staff and contractors, indeed everyone we had occasion to interact with during the entire process, treated us with the utmost respect, and exhibited a high degree of professionalism. Their commitment to quality of design and excellence in workmanship is second to none and to say we are delighted with the end result would be a massive understatement.

We have no hesitation in recommending this company for any renovation projects – they are an amazing team!
