There are a few options for making it to the top of Castle Rock. We did the hardest on the way up, which is the rightmost of the trails. There is some climbing over rocks or down sides required, but isn't too hard for those with decent knees! The way down we took the lightest option, which was easily passed and much less impact on the knees. Would recommend even just for the view. Bring a water bottle!

Very beautiful trail. There is no proper road. Its like proper jungle.

Castle Rock Trailhead is the starting point for the trails leading to Castle Rock. There are mainly two different tails leading to castle rock. One is 1.5 km ATV, bicycle and hike on feet accessible and other is only for pedestrian hikers. And the later is more adventurous, of course of my choice, however exposed to slippery, steep and rocky landscape. The amazing thing if you came on bicycle and decide to hike to the Rock there is a stand to park and lock your bicycle behind. This whole trails area is maintained and managed by Municipality of Chester and Recreation and Parks Department.important information:
Trails to the Castle Rock starts from Castle Rock Trailhead. Don’t take Boulder Dr to reach to Castle Rock Trailhead, it’s a private road. Castle Rock Trailhead can be reached on Chester Connection Trail starting from ‘East River Trailhead’. It’s a 35 minutes walking distance or 10 minutes bicycle ride. This wide trail is very well maintained by the Municipality of Chester and is open to Pedestrians, Bicyclists, Cross -Country Skiers, Snowmobilers, ATV’s and Horses.

Parking for the East River Trailhead is located down the road at 7846 NS HWY 329.
