I recently purchased my first Mazda and am absolutely loving it. The customer service was exceptional, far exceeding the other dealerships I visited. We even had a few laughs along the way. I highly recommend City Mazda.

Great salesman, great vehicle, ridiculous wait times for service appts. 3hrs to get a service and tire change? The last year the wait times have become insane. We will be switching to Steele Mazda.

City Mazda was too pleased to book me a 1 hour appointment at $125 or so to install a $300 part. The part turned out to be an SD card that is worth $30 from an OEM source. It took a while to get here but seriously - a x10 markup? The $600 upgrade is worth about $60 from the same source. Is a 10x markup really necessary?
Nice place, good people, great car. Males me wonder about the net worth of m9st things.

City Mazda shows more than professionalism and quality customer service. They will take care of you no matter what the area of need is. Whenever you walk into the dealership, you feel welcomed and highly respected. I am 20 years old, walked into the dealership with zero judgement or bias based on my age when it came to purchasing a new vehicle. I will most certainly buy another car from city Mazda when the time comes.

Tried to get me to drop a big deposit for a lease car something I never heard about before saying nothing they could do last year
Went to another dealer for even a higher brand car and was not an issue and they were scratching head about my experience with city Mazda

If you’re looking for a car you’re most likely going to have to go through a car dealership. After my experience with Duke and Abel I can absolutely recommend City Mazda. I definitely got the impression that Duke was actually there to help me find exactly the right vehicle for my lifestyle, and not just trying to “sell me a car”. There was a vibe of authenticity there that you don’t often experience in a sales atmosphere. If I could give ten out of five stars I would. One very satisfied customer right here!

We took almost a year to lease a new CX-30 due to our temporal status in the country. On all that time Duke kept contact and was extremely helpful and dedicated, same as when we got our first car in Canada. He and Abel are terrific and really customer oriented, and not least, one of the reasons I'll go back to City Mazda.

I wish I could give more than 5 star for Mark Nicholson and the finance manager (sorry forgot the name ahaha). They were AMAZING. The only dealership I went to that did not try to over sell and gave me exactly what I need. Mark was down to earth and super honest guy and got straight to the point. Will refer my friends. I got financing even with a low credit score the finance manager can pull strings like no other super knowledgable. Thank you so much will be coming here for future cars 100 percent.

I wish I could give a zero rating. City Mazda was great to sell me my car, but you'd better hope you never have to take it to be fixed. The front end service staff are great but the service guys & service manager were rude and I will never buy anything from these guys ever again. Rating = Zero

My purchase of a new CX5 was an amazing experince! My first non-North American vehicle! The vehicle is exceptionally comfortable, lots of power, many amenities on it and fuel economy is outstanding. The Staff of City Mazda from my salesman, Bob to Abel, Duke, Joel, Wes and others all enjoy what they do - they are smiling, helpful, knowledgeable and courteous and this translates to my total confidence in the vehicle. My appreciation to all!

I took my 2019 mazda 3 GT sedan for service at city mazda, Halifax a week ago. I noticed washer fluid indicator issue on my screen after the service. That time i was on trip. When i back i called City Mazda regarding this issue and informed that i am having washer fluid low error on my screen even my washer fluid is full. The service representative was so childish and rude. His name is Ben i think. He was laughing and rude as well and asked for charge if wants to correct error. This is so unacceptable behaviour from city mazda. I asked City mazda to check call recording from few days that i called. I highly recommend not to go city mazda for services for sure or give training to their staff. The call date was today November 17,2022

I bought a used Kia Soul EV a few months ago and they were new to the EVAssist program (government rebate for electric vehicles) but they assured me they would apply for the rebate and forward the cheque when they received it. I had to take this on faith! A few months later, they still hadn't received the rebate but the dealership covered it anyway. In short, they demonstrated a high level of trustworthiness. I remain very impressed with Joel and Ted for keeping their word and prioritizing customer experience over money.

Bought a newer used Mazda 3, and traded in my 10 year old Mazda 3 with no issues. The team gave me the option to pick something from the lot or wait until something I liked came in. Did not feel rushed at all and I was able to spot a car l liked fortunately from the lot that day (as I know cars now go quick). I was able to work my budget with them, and they did their best to make it fit. So far I am very happy with my new car and the treatment. They were also very good at adding Apple CarPlay to my new Mazda as it wasn't a feature it had when I purchased it.

The leadership team works through lies and deceit and doesn’t care if the customers gets into an accident on account of their greed! No wonder nobody goes to buy from this dealership anymore and would rather drive out of the city to get a mazda!
I nearly got into an accident because they wouldn’t change the brake pads during service!
I was told that I would have the first 4 brake pads changed free of cost and they kept saying that I don’t need to change them every time I went for service in the last 3 years. Worst thing is that 2 months ago, I was there for service and I specifically asked them to change the brake pads and they told me they didn’t have inventory and let me drive the car in a hazardous condition! They won’t keep their words and would let their customers get into accidents even if it means saving one dollar through lies and deceit!

Legit great sales experience. It could be just be the crazy car market, post-Covid where there's much more demand than inventory, but I couldn't be any happier! Nice, appropriate sized outfit, not a giant corporate meat grinder.

Fair trade, fair price, no admin or fake fees that cheapen the experience. It's a lot of money to spend; enjoy the process. Win-win scenario for everyone!

Go see Bob Farrell if you want a fun, no-pressure buying experience. Not afraid to get into numbers/details over email/phone. No funny bait/switch shenanigans. The cars will sell themselves, just need someone to guide you through the process. A Mazda Sherpa!

They just want to steal your money. They offer you things when you buy the car and when you want to apply the warranty they say “that’s not included”. I bought a used car and they told me it was in perfect conditions… I’ve been there 3 times in the first month and they asked me to pay because “that’s not covered in the warranty”. Terrible communication and just want to take advantage of you. Go save your money and go somewhere else.

My 1st experience at trying to get information to purchase a car was a disaster and disappointment. I felt scammed. Instead of getting the information I need to make an informed decision on which car I would like to buy, I got a call telling me I was approved, no one discussed anything with me, the did 3 credit check on my credit score without my direct approval to do so and in the end posted information that made it difficult for me to get another affordable approval to purchase, what was worst is the system to report them.but I leave them to time. My prayers will not be in vain. I am only putting 1 star because that is the only way to post my dissatisfaction with the 2 people who used and set me up for failure,

By far the best car buying experience I’ve ever had. From the time I walked in I felt 0 sales pressure, and genuinely felt they just wanted to make sure I had the best car possible for my needs. You can feel the difference of this small family owned dealership versus the other very large dealerships in Halifax. They worked to find me the exact model of CX-5 I was looking for, and offered test drives of all the other options available to me.

Devin in sales was absolutely phenomenal and made sure everything was simple and completed on time from the start of our conversation to picking up my brand new CX-5! I honestly could not be happier!

I had my 1993 Mazda Miata serviced by a senior tech who has been there for 30 years. Had service for timing belt, accessory belts and water pump along with all the associated seals along the way. Rad flush done and fixed a cracked vent hose I was unaware of!
Very happy with the attention to detail to my Miata. The car being 28 years old, my priority was to make sure someone doing this work would be familiar with the original 1.6L engine. Very happy that at this dealership there’s someone who’s been working on these cars since they were brand new! Bill was 1500, higher than I would have liked but the peace of mind knowing someone is caring for my car that knows them inside and out is worth it for the work that was done.

City Mazda truly makes you feel like family. After 9 years and 4 vehicles, I know and trust that I'm being taken care of by a team who won't treat you like a number. As one of the last remaining family-owned dealers here in the HRM; you still can still get that traditional small town feel with service levels exceeding modern expectations.

Whether it's Brenda and her wonderful team on the sales side, or Merrie and Ken on the service side - rest assured you'll be well taken care of. More than fair trade values, honest service and no pressure.they nail it in every category.

Now, it's not all roses. There's been a few bumps along the way with my vehicles over the years but this spectacular team has done right every single time. Every. Time.

Our relationship started back in 2012 after walking out of a very negative experience at a competitor. Since then, I've looked at other brands and dealers during the due diligence process but always return home to City Mazda.

TLDR; I highly recommend City Mazda in every way and I challenge YOU to go in and say hi during your next vehicle purchase, at the very least. You won't be disappointed.

I've had great service from this location and other times it feels like I'm pleading with them to help me. Bought wipers one time and had to bring them back two times because they kept scratching my windshield. Apple Autoglass fixed it and told me to take the wipers back to the dealer a third time and tell them they were junk lol. Brought my car in three times to try to deal with a sputtering noise (sounds like dirty fuel injectors or a bad purge valve or something), we replaced a few other things and it hasn't solved the problem. Now I can't get my car out of park and the guy told me that since the car is old with lots of kms and also isn't acting up when it's at the dealership I should probably not get it fixed. I'm gonna have to take it somewhere else to get it fixed because I'm tired of getting stuck in park in awkward places and the sputtering noise is still happening. I'm discouraged but I've come too far to give up on my car because one shop can't solve the mystery.

Very disappointed with my last service. Went in for an oil/filter change/general inspection. They told me the cabin air filter needed replacement (which it did). I told them not to replace it because I have spares. They reassembled the glove box wrong which is very unprofessional. But the worst part is what I found under the hood! On the inspection report they marked the engine air filter as bad. So I went in to take a look and saw tons of rodent droppings inside the engine bay and around the air box. Concerned by that I looked around and found some wires that had been chewed up, including ignition coil wires. The dealership HAS to have seen this if they looked at the filter (there was droppings inside the air filter box). But they didn't tell me about that. What they did tell me about though, is the cabin air filter which they wanted $65 for it (costs $10 and takes 45 seconds to replace, literally). Not happy at all.

I went to City Mazda to buyout my Mazda CX-5, while the same time they was doing the MVI for my car.

However, after I paid the final payment and started driving home, I just noticed that there is a distinctive scratch on the steering wheel.

I reached out to service advisor and they took the pictures of it and the manager just simply said they didn’t cause the scratch and of course I didn’t do that. After the discussion they said that my car is still covered by warranty and they can try using warranty to get it fixed but after a week I called them to ask how’s things going, the manager just told me that it’s not covered by warranty and it costs $800. They think they didn’t cause the scratch so they won’t pay for that.

Honestly, before I send my car to City Mazda for MVI there’s no scratch, but when I picked up and drive, the touch feeling was can not be ignored.

So I asked the manager to check the monitoring and he said after checked it out he’s gonna get back to me. However, a week has passed and I still didn’t hear anything back.

That’s their attitude to the customer. Is it a will or a skill issue?

Choose wisely, I would never go nor recommend City Mazda to anyone personally.

*UPDATE*

I saw the response from the owner so I think I should talk about the day that we checked the camera.

At Feb 11, I went to City Mazda to check the camera with manager after work. Unfortunately, the camera didn’t tell us who has caused the scratch, neither the technician nor me, and then the manager said that maybe the scratch was there before I send it for MVI.
I’m 100% sure it wasn’t there before so I said no, you can go check the steering wheel now. But after he saw my steering wheel he said “Wow, you steering wheel is way better than before, you should be happy, what do you want now. ” Why should I feel happy at the time? The scratch was not there before I came to City Mazda. Based on the pictures you took earlier, I expected a new steering wheel and after I say that the manager said “That not gonna happen. ” and he wants to take pictures of my steering wheel now, I said yes at the first time but while he was looking for the camera I thought I should ask for a copy of the old pictures which took by you before but when I ask him if I could keep a copy of the picture, he said “That’s not gonna happen. ” Why did you refuse to give me a picture of my own vehicle? And he said We done or something else but same meaning.and just walk away.

I was beyond happy with my experience with City Mazda Matt, Joel and any other team member I encountered was pleasant and helpful. I wanted to change from a car to a suv and Matt worked with my budget to make it happen. Matt and the team made the transition easy and painless answered all my questions and made it pleasantly clear that if I have any other questions or need anything going forward they will be there. Devin at City Mazda was so wonderful to deal with! It took us two weeks of emailing back and forth to make a decision and come in to look at a vehicle and he was so patient the entire time. Sara in the financing office was so welcoming and really put us at ease. Everyone was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions truthfully. We expected stress going in but we’re pleasantly surprised as how easy everyone made the whole experience. Devin took the time to go over all of the many features our new vehicle has even though it was snowing out and we really appreciated it and his enthusiasm! Sara took her time going over everything we needed to know and was quick to respond to my email questions.
Extra shout out to Doug for helping us out on the first day when we came to look at the vehicles and getting everything started for us. Very helpful and friendly!

We needed to bring our kids with us on pick up day and Devin was kind enough to put two of our tires in his office until we were able to make it back the next day for them. I cannot recommend City Mazda enough for your car buying experience! When we need to add another vehicle to our family in a few years it’ll be an easy decision on where we’ll be going.

Purchased a 2020 Mazda 3 in July. While purchasing I was asked about winter tires. I informed the salesman that I had new 15" winter tires on rims from my old Mazda 3. He informed me that these would be fine. These are not fine, they do not fit the new 2020 rotors. So I called City Mazda to explain the situation, that I had been led astray and see what they could help with, let's face it, everyone and their dog gets winter tires thrown into their new vehicle purchase, it's commonplace. I would have done the same had I not been told that the tires I currently have would work. City Mazda advised that I sell the ones I have on kijiji and purchase new ones. I guess what I am saying is, this is a classic horror story from a car dealership. Given wrong information to use products that don't work just to have you turn around and buy more things from the dealership. Sad really. So now here I am with no winter tires for the upcoming winter season.

*UPDATE*

Was contacted by Mazda and they expressed their sympathies with my situation. They then proceeded to try to sell me tires and rims to the tune of ~$1000, as I suggested they would above. They also informed me that City Mazda does not include Winter Tires in their sales. So for anyone considering a purchase here, take that into consideration, I purchased my wife's car, with winter tires thrown in, from the dealership across the street. Hope this review helps all you future car buyers.

I experienced poor service from the city mazda Halifax. I bought Cx- 5 on October 21 but still I didn’t get my vehicle permit. I already went there to ask about my problem. They told me it would be reaching soon. Still no response from them. Poor customer service I faced from the city Mazda. I don’t know where i will go for my vehicle permit and registration.

I went to see Matt at city Mazda I explained the problems I was having with my current vehicle and what were some upgrades I’d like to make.

I don’t have the best credit and went to another dealer and was not happy with what they came back to me with and than went to city Mazda.

Matt managed to get me a HUGE upgrade and into a SUV that I absolutely love. All of this for a slightly higher payment than I was making on my previous small car.

I’ve been driving it for two weeks and have had zero issues and feel completely safe unlike my previous car.

A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders and Matt was extremely helpful to me! I cannot recommend him enough. He is a family man and will go above and beyond for yours!

My cousin bought Mazda 3,7 weeks ago and he didn't get his Ownership paper yet. And this guy, Mat is not a professional at all. He gave me and my cousin empty promises regarding the paper

We just bought our new CX-30. It's a beautiful car. Our experience was truly celebratory because of the people at City Mazda. Bob, Gary and Brendan were fantastic. After bad experiences with a dealership that was bought by an auto group, we were determined to bring our business back to an independent dealership. We want to deal with people who are passionate about the cars that they sell and who make customer satisfaction their priority. City Mazda has already impressed us with their professionalism, enthusiasm and dedication to customer service.

We bought one of our cars from them. When it had major issues, they actually blamed us, and said it was due to lack of maintenance. After about 6 weeks of fighting they determined the problem wasn’t ours. What’s suspicious is they didn’t disclose all of the information up front, as they should have.

I can’t trust them anymore. Always be truthful up front. At all times. It shows character

We’ve bought 2 cars from City Mazda. Awesome place, if you can get Abel as a salesman I would highly recommend contacting him. The sales manager is a very nice and dedicated woman who wants to make the price work for you. 3 years into the first vehicle I still love it like the day I drove it home:)

I drive a 2017 CX9. The plastic trim fell off the side of my vehicle without cause. I have been told by other Mazda owners and even by a City Mazda dealership employe that this is a relatively common occurrence with my make and model of vehicle. Despite bringing this to the attention of the dealership, they refuse to take responsibility for their vehicle design defect.
