Love the art and personality of the building but the food was not very good. Appetizers were okay, but can be ordered anywhere else. Seafood chowder that was all potato and the gravy on poutines was tasteless and weird texture. May try other location downtown in Digby.

We would not have known about this place if it wasn't for a friend who lives in the area. Good, fresh, no nonsense seafood for reasonable prices.

We have been to the Crows Nest several times over the years now and always looked forward to going. However the latest experience over the weekend has left us having mixed feelings about the place and I’ll explain why.
Basically the quality of the food is good but the quantity you get is lacking considering what you pay. For example a bowl of Chowder and 1/2 a sandwich is $25, the fact that ‘soup and sandwich’ doesn’t even include a full sandwich tells me the place is cutting corners on the menu any way they can. Also one of our items was the Scallop appetizer @ $18, the menu shows 6 respectable looking Scallops but what came out of the kitchen were mini Scallops each about the size of a quarter. While I am certainly not a Scallop expert these were by far the tiniest Scallops I have ever seen served as a stand-alone item anywhere. In a chowder they would have been ok but on a platter they were down right disappointing and no where near worth it. Other items we had seem to go heavy on the Potato filler and light on the seafood, something that discerning customers easily pick up on.
All in all we will think twice before going back again, the atmosphere is good and the people are very nice. However when walking out the door having shelled out the better part of $100 all in on lunch for two there is no way you should be leaving having any semblance of the impression that the portions have been cheaped out on.
There comes a point where the scales get tipped so far that you just say no it’s not worth it anymore.

What a great find! A little bit off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Awesome food, large portions and fast friendly service. (Don't let the quaint outside appearance fool you, this is an excellent place to eat!).

I've been frequenting the Crow's Nest for many years. If you want a homey restaurant with excellent seafood, this is it. My favourites are the fish and chips [English style batter] and the seafood chowder never disappoints. If you order the fish & chips, I recommend the one piece. Although, you can always take the second piece to go. There is also a take-out window and picnic tables overlooking the water. Great spot for a summer lunch or dinner. The staff are very nice, too!

Very busy in the summer. You may want to eat a little early or late to avoid the crowds.

Our son recommended the Crow's Nest in Digby, however we were closer to this location so we stopped in for lunch. We were greeted by very friendly staff, who provided the best of service. The ambiance was warm and very quaint. The food was very delicious and reasonably priced. We couldn't decide between the fish and chips or the seafood chowder, so we took the chowder to go. We will definitely come here again.

I am very happy to report that the Crow's Nest in Hillsburn still makes its' amazing seafood chowder. So glad they have been able to keep their high standard up. The seafood platter was also fantastic with home cut fries.

The Crow's Nest makes amazing and fresh seafood chowder paired with the tastiest home-made roll we've ever eaten, finished off with an out of this world white chocolate raspberry cheesecake! We arrived for lunch after a long day of moving and travel and were treated to one of the best meals we've ever had (fish and chips, coleslaw, shrimp, salad.). We ordered seafood chowder and two types of cheesecakes to go, so we could have another meal after arriving at our destination. A double win! First the dine-in experience, and later take out scrumptiousness! The quality of food, great service, location and atmosphere has this lovely gem as our top favourite places to visit while in Digby!
