Thought it was OK. Got seated at a weird table in the lower level. The server was great. Food was good.but wasn't blown away.

Honestly one of the best resturant expirences my boyfriend and I have had to date. The staff our waiter (Jon) was extremely pleasant and made us feel extremely welcomed. You're hostess was also super friendly and super attentive.

WoW! We were greeted warmly and I would recommend this to all who want a homemade Italian meal. They have the best pasta -my favourite was the creamy garlic gnocchi. I loved my pistachio cannoli mmm. The best customer service and delicious food:)

One of the truest Italian restaurants in the town. Staff are professionals and food is awesome. Especially it’s suitable for business meetings or nice family events without kids.

Came here for dinner alone on my birthday and I would say it was a really great experience. Food， wine，service and ambiance in the restaurant are excellent! I would like to give full marks and come again.

Perfect experience! The atmosphere and service were both great. The bread was fluffy. My mojito was made well. I don't like gnocchi but I ordered it because it was the only vegetarian meal, and it was amazing. The chocolate cheesecake was very rich but good to share. It's pricey but certainly worth it.

We were celebrating 3 January birthdays and made reservations ahead of time requesting that one of our favourite dishes that isn’t currently on the menu be available. Apparently there was a miscommunication and the ingredients for the dish weren’t available, we were very disappointed but a quick decision was made and the ingredients were sent for and our delicious favourite was created. The service we received was a bit inconsistent but the consideration demonstrated by the kitchen more than made up for that. Thank you!

This was the best steak I've had ever and I'm from Alberta! The food was delicious, service was incredible (Scott our waiter was awesome) and it was the best meal I've had all year

Food was delicious, staff were amazing besides a few mishaps, it happens. All of the wine glasses had water marks and one had a lipstick stain, so I do suggest for a fine dining restaurant that they polish their wine glasses. Overall pretty good

Nice location, however a little outdated. Bruschetta over priced for two pieces $16. Eggplant Parmesan appetizer was ok, a little dry. Radicchio salad was excellent. Wouldn’t go back.

We held a special dinner at this restaurant and the booking, the food and friendly service was exceptional. This restraunt is a must for all visiting Halifax, definitely for me and family when we return.

A truly five star dining experience. This past Saturday evening our dinner enjoyed at Da Maurizio was nothing short of spectacular. Our server was extremely friendly, perfect table placement for a quiet evening, and absolutely phenomenal food. Compared to other restaurants in Atlantic Canada, da maurizio simply beats them in ever aspect. A real experience of dinning.

The ambiance and food was great but the desserts.amazing! The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because my girlfriend and I only ate half our main course because we wanted to save some room for dessert. The waiter took our food and wrapped it up for us or maybe he didn’t Im not sure but on our way home we realized we never got our food back. The waiter was very kind nothing wrong with our service Im just very disappointed that we won’t get to enjoy the rest of our meal: (especially since I had left 3/4 of my food to enjoy at work the next day

This is a great place for a special meal. It has a very comfortable atmosphere, the servers are knowledgeable about the wines and menu selections, and the food is superb!

Such a nice dining experience. The waiter Kelly was super friendly and knowledgeable about the drink menu and food menu. Service was fantastic. The atmosphere was great. Food was delicious. Definitely a place I'd like to go to again. Money well spent.

Appetizers were Calamari? Ceasar salad, Meat balls. Main course lamb chops excellent. Bolognese splendid. Deserts Tiramisu, Caramel Apple Cake and chocolate Mouse Cake. Great meal.and well worth the $$$. Servers knowledgeable and friendly.

The food was good, but not memorable. We found the service to be inconsistent. When we wanted to linger, the servers were all over us, and when we wanted attention, they were nowhere to be found. Despite physical distancing, we found it too loud and it was missing the intimate ambience of previous visits.

I don't do fine dining very often so when I do, everything from the food, service, location and attention to detail is very important to me. I made a reservation 2 or 3 days beforehand and I asked if they ever had fresh oysters. It isn't on their menu so I thought I would just ask. The answer was not usually but they would try to have a dozen oysters on the half shell for me (no promises of course). When our party of 2 arrived we had amazing oysters! They were so good! Thank you to the chef and staff who made that happen. Everything was wonderful, the food, the ambience and the service, again thank you.

It is a tough time for restaurants during covid and my heart goes out to all of them. I recommend reservations and trying to go during less peak times.

We were able to sneak in before COVID restrictions 2.0 kicked in. Sad to see that great businesses such as these will probably struggle through the winter of 2020-2021. We were a party of 9, and everyone was absolutely satisfied with their meals. Cozy setting, great service, did not feel pressure to leave from the staff after desert. Highly recommended - 5 Stars.

I love this restaurant! Fabulous dinner last night. Great recommendations from Steve our server. Halibut was fantastic. Calamari has been on the menu for years and for good reason, it is the best in Halifax!

The food here is sooo good. Never a disappointment! When given the choice, I love coming here.especially for my birthday.

We have been to Da Maurizio many times over the years when visiting Halifax and always had a good experience, however, this time we were very disappointed. Not sure if they have new ownership or a new chef but what a disappointment! The herb-crusted halibut dish was dry and underwhelming. We also had the seafood linguine with the 'rose sauce'. No word of a lie the 'rose sauce' tasted like Chef Boyardee in a can. In short, Da Maurizio has succumbed to complacency and is off my list.

Very enjoyable meal, clean and well maintained building in the old historic Alexander Keith's brewery. Staff welcomed us immediately on entry, offered to take our coats, and we were seated. Within a minute we had our waiter welcome us and take drink requests. Menu was well laid out, they take dietary restrictions very seriously, The food was freshly prepared, excellent quality and quite filling. This was one of the most memorable and positive dining experiences we have ever had. Will definitely be back.

The food, although pricey for the terrible service we received, was good. The web-site menu was not the same as the restaurant one when we arrived. We waited a long time and finally had to ask. TWICE.before receiving bread.
The appetizers were served with no dipping sauce which is usually customary for calamari. The website described it totally differently. I had to hunt under everything to find the wee bit of balsamic/oil mix that came with the caprice salad. The dinners were placed in front of the wrong people. We were served an app after our dinner was finished which was removed from the table once we mentioned that we didn't order it. Only SOME of the take home doggy bags were complete. Our friend who suggested we go here felt so bad that he apologized and insisted on picking up the entire tab which upset us all. There was never a sincere apology from the staff for all the mistakes For the price.in our opinion is is not worth a return trip to this restaurant.

Had a fantastic dinner. The only downside was having to choose what delicious dish to eat! We had the veal scallopini and the lamb chops, followed by tiramisu and the gelato/brownie. Everything was absolutely delicious and we walked away full (for reference, the desserts are more than enough to share!).

Our server, Sean, was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. He helped us refine our choices and made us feel very welcome.

Even though there happened to be a wedding, which was extremely loud. It was still a great experience. Everything we had was perfect, the sauces were unbelievable.
The hostess, who may have been the owner from what I’ve been told, ensured our visit was a great experience.

We went out for dinner and experienced Da Maurizio for the first time hearing positive reviews from our friends. But for the type of restaurant that it was and the expectations we had the service wasn't comparable to other restaurants we've been to like A mano's. For example after asking the waitress for just a couple more minutes with the menu it took her closer to 15-20 minutes to return and when we asked for our food to be packed up to take home it never came back to us. Little things also that weren't a big deal but water could've been filled more frequently and the candle re-lit when it had gone out would've been nice. Overall the food was great but just really disappointed in the service that resulted in a negative experience in what was suppose to be a special night in a more upscale restaurant.

We were coming to Canada, to celebrate my boyfriend's 56th birthday.   Last year we went to Montreal and this year Quebec City, ending up in Halifax for a nice birthday dinner. We live in Colorado and I made reservations here for his birthday a few weeks before our trip as it looked very nice.    We both had great seafood meals, the service was not horrible but not great either.   Before we got our food I left to tell the waitress it was my boyfriend's birthday.   After dinner we were presented with the dessert menu.   I got up to follow the waitress to inquire about a special birthday  dessert.   I was told they don't do anything and I was welcome to order something and they would put a candle in it.   I was shocked.    She came over to ask if we wanted to order dessert and I asked to talk to the manager.   The manager came over and said they don't do that, they could not possibly do that for everyone's birthday,   they are not a big box place. We just ordered two of the most expensive dinners on the menu and she was adamant that we can order something and they would put a candle in it.   I am still in shock.   This is the service industry and I have never heard of such disappointing service.   A small, nice gesture would have meant a lot. I told the manager every restaurant in the US and Canada has done something nice for a birthday celebration. The manager could care less and both the waitress and manager could not even bother to say happy birthday to my boyfriend much less try to fix this knowing how unhappy we were.   Although the food was good, the horrible treatment we received really wrecked what should have been a special occasion, and I would never recommend this restaurant.

I've gone to Da Maurizio's for many years. It has always been my go to for excellent food.
Tonight I was there with my group of sisters and I have to say tonight was the best ever

We had the most suberb server Kelly. Professional and really on the ball. Extremely exceptional. Thank you Kelly.

We were visiting Halifax on a business trip and booked this restaurant because it is well rated. What a disappointment. The restaurant was not busy yet we waited at the door while staff went back and forth (yes, we had a reservation). The hostess saw us yet ignored us. I thought this a bad sign and wanted to walk out which is what we should have done. Service is slow, one woman who appeared to be the manager was ok but the hostess and waitress were terrible. It might have helped if we had stayed in our business clothes but really, why shouldn’t all guests be treated well no matter how they are dressed? Was it because we look like tourists? Food was just ok, the mussels were sour, and we left most of them. Nothing special here. A two star restaurant that thinks it’s a five star and is doing its guests a favour. Won’t return here when we return to Halifax. It’s too bad because all the other restaurants we ate at in Halifax were absolutely amazing.

Delicious food with an excellent service. Da Maurizio has expert array of chefs and very professional service. Quite the treat!

Food was amazing, service is good, a bit expensive, portions are not that big, atmosphere is nice, you can have a quiet dinner with the ability to have a nice conversation. In general recommended restaurant.

Sublime food & impeccable service. Great spot for cozy date nights, we always end up talking about how great our meal & experience was for days after. 10/10!

Très bon restaurant. De bons plats dans une ambiance conviviale et bien qu'un peu bruyante, agréable. Le serveur était très attentionné et poli. Les plats étaient succulents, agréables à l'oeil comme au palais. La carte des vins est bien fournie et le serveur connaissait son métier. Une bonne adresse.
