Best ice cream in a perfect central location. The staff are always lovely even when the line is out the door.

Known for its ice-creams but also have other light food options. I think a renovation might be need for dine-in but I like their food and ice-creams overall. One of the best ice-creams in town

Absolutely incredible ice cream and sorbet! A friend recommended this place and it lived up to the hype. As they are a small batch ice cream business, flavours rotate regularly.

I ordered the jalapeño ginger sorbet and the berry lime sorbet. I admit I was a bit hesitant but was feeling adventurous that day - however the flavours within each scoop were so complementary! I could taste how fresh the ingredients were, and I liked how the scoops were not too sweet either, and so refreshing. Scoops were rather generous too, especially for the price. Probably some of the best sorbet I’ve ever had in my entire life!

If I had more time in Halifax, I would’ve frequented the business once more but hopefully my review has convinced you to visit it in my place:) Truly a must-visit!

Servers are way too loud and raucous - they deterred customers from coming in. Great ice cream but the women working there were so loud and hyper! Seemed way more interested in their private party than in their work. Stood with a bunch of people outside the shop who were reluctant to go in.

Probably the smoothest ice cream I’ve ever had. It was unbelievably creamy, I couldn’t believe the texture. Service wasn’t the friendliest but that was easy to overlook once you had the ice cream in your hands.

I think that they have the most delicious ice-cream in the city! We definitely buy ice-cream at other places too, but always come back here to indulge ourselves in this soft creamy taste. They keep updating their flavours too. You can also find delicious treats, food and soups here. Their burritos are a must try. The place isn't too big but has a big.

I remember when I was little I would always come here, love it. Great ice cream, and very friendly.

My only complaint about this place is that you can only get sweet potato in your burrito when it's in season. Granted, that's because they use local produce from small farms wherever possible but still, it's so good and they certainly don't get their rice locally.
Otherwise this place is perfect. Okay, it could seat more people too but most of what they serve can be trotted away with and there's often an overflow of happy customers chatting delightfully outside with their yum-stuffs in hand

This is just the most amazing ice cream shop. Some easy favourites (vanilla, chocolate, mango sorbet) and then really interesting flavours that are soooooooo well done (banana cardamom, orange star anise, mexican chocolate, raspberry rose). Unmissable.

Great tasting ice cream! Ordered the caramel swirl and Mexican chocolate ice cream. Each scoop was a nice size. The caramel swirl was really good. The Mexican chocolate had some spice to it but was also really good. They provide glasses to pour water from a jug. This water was a nice treat after finishing my ice cream. Staff were very friendly. I will be back again for some more great tasting ice cream.

“Dee-licious” ice cream! Not many flavors to choose from and no toppings but the ice cream is very authentic and yummy. I recommend the cherry almond swirl ice cream. Also, the milkshake sizes are the perfect size for a frozen treat!

Perfect icecream spot after hours of fun at the Oval. They have quite a lot of flavours to choose from. We tried the chocolate, vanilla, mango, Nova Scotia berries, black sesame, lavender and Pina colada. Our favourites are the black sesame and mango. Reasonably priced, friendly staffs. Cash and debit only though.

Chicken Burrito: The chicken had a texture comparable to being boiled, and there was zero seasoning. All the other ingredients seemed okay. Overall very bland. Not tempted to try the beef version after that.

Ice Cream: It would certainly be ridiculous to try and dispute the flavor of their product, it's quite good. I bought a pint of vanilla; it turns out their ingredients contain a couple gum-based thickeners/stabilizers and carrageenan (I would imagine this is the case with their other flavors). It's quite deceptive to claim to have "Artisanal Flavours from Nova Scotia" while using these ingredients, and it would make sense to me that's why their website doesn't list this information. For those who have gut issues and/or are prone to colitis, beware of these additives. It's too bad this is the case, they have a great selection, and based on everything I know about this business, it appears to treat their employees and customers well. They just need to be more transparent with their product, and ideally, I'd love to see options without these additives. I have no reason to go back until these changes are made, unfortunately. I'm attaching a photo of the ingredients list for their vanilla flavor in case anyone else has similar concerns, since they don't provide this info anywhere.

From someone who can't really do dairy, I love their dairy-free sorbets. Really inventive but tasty flavours. And the staff is always just as sweet.

Delicious, well worth checking out if you are in the neighbourhood! A great mix of 'classic' ice cream and sorbet flavours, but also quite a few options for the more adventurous. Know that it is cash or debit only so you aren't caught by surprise. Employees are friendly and helpful, and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Halifax!

Getting ice cream there can be a patience test, but it is worth the wait. I particularly love the Mexican chocolate flavour and recently added Maple Walnut to my list of favourites anywhere. Not sure if it is a good thing, but thanks for making me have ice cream at least twice a week, something I hadn't done in a long time.

Couldn't go in bc had dog with me and she came out and met me outside w cone and to pay for my dairy-free rasperry passionfruit sorbet cone. First rate, friendly service and a great cone!

Adorable little corner ice cream store. All I’ve cream is home made and tastes AMAZING! They offer ice cream in a waffle cone or as a milkshake and floats! Also offer dairy free options!

Great place! The staff seem happy working here as they were singing and laughing when we were there. It definitely lifted my mood when entering and even waiting outside in the line.
They have bowls of water outside for thirty pets and you can also ask for a dog treat.
This is a great community Gem of a place!

Great tasting ice cream. Definitely a nice treat to brighten up your day. Ordered rum and raisin, would have given five stars but I felt like the rum taste wasn’t strong enough.

Friendly customer service, clean, and definitely a good spot to get icecream near the commons. They offer sorbet but hoping they’ll get some vegan ice cream soon! Also Wish they had outdoor seating and a patio or shaded area.

Having lived around the corner from Dee Dee's for a year now I can say with confidence how they're easily the best ice cream shop in Halifax. The wonderful selection of Ice Cream always keeps me on my feet giving me something new to try each time. The staff have always been super inviting, friendly, fast, and knowledge. Simply an amazing experience each time.

Personally my favourite ice cream in existence. They have the craft treat down to a T. They also make some really killer burritos and it's a generally Pleasant place to be. Highly recommend checking it out!

Dee Dee's has ice cream, which is a cold, dairy based treat. You can eat it with a spoon or lick it, using your tongue. You could eat it by grabbing handfuls and pushing them into your mouth, but personally I don't recommend it.
The ice cream comes in different flavors, so if you don't like one, then you don't have to get that one. I would recommend starting with a flavor you do like and going from there.

Just had a delicious cookie flavoured and caramel flavoured ice cream on a waffle cone. The two ladies working were very pleasant. Definitely recommend!

Even in the dead of winter you have to stop at Dee Dee's. The Mexican chocolate ice cream alone is sufficient reason. Great place to hit after some time on the Commons.

I enjoy coming here for the tasty burritos and the really cozy ambiance. The staff are very friendly as well. I find the ice cream has a mild flavour compared to other places. Their best flavours I’ve had are peppermint (Christmas season) and Mexican chocolate

Too busy enjoying my ice cream that I didn’t get the chance to photograph it for clout. Jokes aside, the place is small but great varieties/options, the staff is attentive and nice.
If I ever visit Halifax again, I will definitely come back here and try out new things.

Wow. This is really great ice cream. If you like ice cream or burritos, these folks are an institution. Super friendly staff and a few inside and outside seating options. Very fair prices for a quality product. They do have options for people who can't stick to the normal recipe. Great option for a North End walkabout or post Citadel/Commons visit. Don't change the formula Dee Dees!

Creamy rich ice cream. I ordered a tub of coffee to go but had some of it in the shop as my friends enjoyed their ice cream cone. Tried their mocha milkshake and it was delicious! Strong hints of coffee flavour that is not at all sweet.

I also love how environmentally friendly this shop is. Biodegradable "plastic" cups, paper straw, metal spoons for tasting. Small shop with great service. They also serve food but I didn't get to try any. I will definitely be back! ️

OMG the flavours! What a delight, it did not disappoint. Fresh flavours and quaint atmosphere. After being at the oval it's a short walk to this gem. My first time trying Ginger Lemon ice cream and I think I've found my new favorite.this place is awesome!

This is a Halifax standard. After hanging out at the oval you should walk over to Dee Dees. You never know what they're going to have flavor-wise but they are always good.

I'm not sure what happened. Dee Dee's used to be hands down the best ice cream in town, with decent serving sizes and affordable pricing. Within the last few years, the ice cream has become less and less flavourful, and instead more and more sugary. I am almost glad that the portions have shrunk in Novelle Cuisine manner (that's a slight exaggeration), because it's just so disappointing. I kept trying, but this year, I think I give up. So sorry, Dee Dee's.

Can't go wrong with handmade ice cream and sorbet. Several great flavours to choose from and they make a great americano as well.

Amazenalls icecream! I was blown away by the flavours. Friendly staff who are down to earth and made great recommendations regarding flavour combinations. Perfect after lunch pairing.a walk on the commons completed the experience.

Scrumptious homemade locally sourced ice cream, Dee Dee's is the place to go for local goodies. Along with ice cream they have cookies, grilled cheese and burritos! They even post their local farm sources on their website. The ice cream is made with milk and cream which makes it creamy and flavourful. Flavours like Creamsicle, Buttered Almond, and mexican chocolate to name a few popular favourites.

DeeDee's was just down the street from our Airbnb while in Halifax. We truly enjoyed their burritos, fantastic homemade ice cream and loved the lemon squeeze (similar to lemonade). Definitely visit DeeDee's and check them out online.

I love going to Dee Dee's. There's not a lot of space to sit, so don't count on that, but the food is good and the employees are always lovely.

Pretty good ice cream with various flavors. You can tell that the shop has been running for some time from the unique furniture. Great place for ice cream.
