Dharma Sushi

A real authentic Japanese restaurant which might be the only one owned by a Japanese chef…? It is kind of hard to find on this touristy strip in downtown but it’s worth walking through the whole length of the short strip to find their door. Sushi is freshly made and tastes very good. The service is also excellent. Good, thoughtful pricing and anyone can afford their fine cuisine.

Best Miso Soup I’ve had in Halifax! Sushi always tastes incredible and I love that it’s family owned and operated! The staff is so sweet, love going here!

The food is great and the owners are kind. A message to the owners, please teach the servers to deliver standards of service and communication that you would provide. I am a regular here and the new servers make the experience horrible. They’re unorganized, bad at communicating and sometimes rude. What a shame. I would really like to go back and introduce this place to friends and family but I’m afraid to do so because of the bad service experienced recently by the servers.

The first time couple of time I went to this restaurant I really enjoyed the food and the service was great, the last 5 times I have gone the service has been terrible, what’s worse is I can see other customers who sit down after my group get much better service such as having water served to them, having better communication, getting their utensils and updates on their wait times, you know, the basics. For instance, we sat down and had to wait 1 hour for our food today, we didn’t get utensils or water until 50 minutes later. Waiting is not the issue, it’s the fact that our servers didn’t attend to us, communicate kindly, bring us water or anything and when we asked for water the server cut me off middle of my sentence and said she’ll get our water and utensils now, as if she is annoyed by me asking. Not sure why my last few experiences have been so bad, the owners are kind and always apologize if there is a delay or mistakes. The servers have not been good at all the last 5 times that I have gone. Not sure if I will ever go back which is too bad because I like the food but I can’t stand the service anymore and rather eat somewhere else with basic service

This is my not just my favourite Japanese restaurant in town, but my favourite restaurant period. The prices are reasonable, and you can get a good meal for under 25 dollars. The Ramen is the best in town, and all the appetizers and donburi are great options as well.

Whenever I am downtown for lunch I go to Dharma Sushi. They have delicious food at reasonable prices. It has fast service and the food is delivered prompt. The daily specials are great and I alsways get the Miso soup.

Both sushi and rolls are delicious.
They are friendly and the lunch menu is generous for the price.

Tried this restaurant for the first time this week. I can't wait to be back in Halifax and get to go again- the sushi was incredible. I have tried Miso soup many times and it has never been my thing, but I tried it again here and loved it. Spicy Salmon was my favorite, but the teriyaki was a very close second. They also subbed out tempura yam for cucumber on the lunch special with no issue- thank you! We will definitely be back!

Amazing food. We were visiting for three nights and spent two of them in this restaurant.
The service is great, the people are welcoming and attentive to your needs.
We ordered sushis and teryaki meals which included a soup and a house salad.
The dressing on the salad was so good that we had to buy some to go.
I highly recommend the place, great quality food, great service and great prices.

The rice was sticky and delicious, and the fries were super crispy.
Maybe it was because it was raining, but the inside felt a little damp. The waitress broke the cup and rolled it up. For a moment, the silence flowed. It felt like a single fan wasn't enough! I hope the inside isn't damp (rainy days are too humid) So. ㅠㅠ)
