Highly recommend the spa, only place I go to for hair. The skincare options are awesome aswell. Stayed in room 236, wouldn’t stay there again until they’re more updated. There was a lot going on and overall didn’t have a great time in the hotel. I normally call to see when there’s a buffet it’s great for the price. Every time I’ve gone to the normal menu breakfast it hasn’t even compared to the buffet. If I knew the condition of the room I would’ve just spent more at the spa, hope the place will be renovated soon. Customer service is kind but I felt very uncomfortable at times. Will be coming back for the buffet, dinner and the spa. The hotel is beautiful love all of the old character details, my family is very much into renovating and I’m very ocd so I had a hard time in the room.

This hotel is very beautiful on the outside but the patching on the inside was horrifying. I also saw some kids trying to have fun but this very rude lady threatened to harm one of these children which is NOT OKAY.and once more i saw stairs about to crumple!

I was at the Pines Hotel for a seminar for the day. I've been there twice and was very impressed with the kitchen and food. This time was horrible! Our lunches were pre-ordered through the organization and brought to the seminar hall. Some people had dietary restrictions, including myself.
When it was lunch time, only a few lunches were delivered, many people were standing around waiting, some got a lunch, there wasn't enough for others with restrictions. Some of us waited as our organizer/speaker spoke with the kitchen staff about the mix up. There was gluten free/lactose, lactose, or regular. Instead of waiting, I grabbed a lunch that was just gluten-free (but could only eat some of it) other people waited for almost a half hour for lunch because they needed to go make more. In mine there was a bag of Lay's plain chips with a sticker on it stating 'the chips were not gluten free' and a sandwich with (not sure) on it.
As professional chefs, if you work in a large place as the Pines, I would think the staff would have knowledge of dietary needs, restrictions, contamination, and especially what is and isn't gluten free, if not they should NOT be working there.
After finally returning with more lunches, the people who didn't get theirs was finally served. On my way out, there was LOTS of lunches including gluten-free/lactose free so I took one for the road. Inside were 2 fruit, cheese, some sort of a vegetarian sandwich, and half of a square made with oatmeal.
*If cheese is lactose free it's stated (it wasn't), oatmeal is not gluten free unless it is stated, due to cross contamination- I didn't know if it was safe to eat, Lay's plain chips are gluten-free it is stated on the back of the bag. VERY disappointing!
I do hope everyone else enjoyed their lunches.

My husband and I stayed at Digby Pines Resort on a recent trip to Halifax. We spent an afternoon whale watching, so the location was convenient. We booked a package that included a 3-course dinner and a spa voucher.
Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience at this resort. Our stay started off rocky, when we waited over 30 minutes to check in. It seemed like there was a golf event while we were staying there as there were many golfers in the lobby who were yelling across the room at one another and using inappropriate language - this added to the unpleasantness of waiting to check in. When we did check in, they failed to give us a card to provide the restaurant for our meal, as well as they gave us a spa voucher for the incorrect value.
Our stay did not improve when we visited the restaurant. The service was sub-par and the food was average at best. They seemed to be very short staffed as the two times we went to the restaurant (dinner and breakfast) we waited quite a while to be greeted. At dinner the food took a long time to come out. To provide reference, our 3-course meal took over two hours. Also a note for gluten-free diners - the buffet had no indication of what was gluten free, and when asked, the staff had limited knowledge.
The spa treatments are reasonably priced and I enjoyed a relaxing massage. Unfortunately they have not invested in a quality massage table as my neck was incredibly sore upon leaving.
Overall, our stay was fine. Would not go out of my way to stay here again.

Spent the night, room was small no fridge or microwave, plumbing was noisy with a high pitch squeal until most guests had turned in, no ice machine when I asked for ice at the bar was instructed to go to see kitchen staff, breakfast was buffet nice selection well prepared but fell short due to being luke warm, server was asked twice before we received tea and milk, all things considered not what was expected for $200 per night

We were doing a road trip around Nova Scotia, we decided to stay here just one night. Overall it is a good hotel!
22 June 2023 10:05
We had a lovely cottage overlooking the water. All of the staff were extremely attentive to any requests. The spa is well appointed and all of the staff there were very friendly and made sure I enjoyed my services. The centre of town is a quick drive away and we enjoyed some of the pubs and restaurants there.

Have been here many times before for golf weekends. Sadly the beautiful Stanley Thompson layout is in very rough shape. Fairways are covered in broad leaf / dandelions, and don't appear to be using there irrigation as the fairways were baked dry and bare in many places. The greens had been aerated and not sanded, so many big holes to putt through, and very bumpy. Many bunkers had little to no sand, hitting off hard pan.
Love the course and hopefully they'll revive the greens and fairways, I likely won't be back until they do.

The room was cold even though it had a heat pump was still cold.the bed was uncomfortable it was like it wasnt attached.had to let shower run for quite awhile before it would get warm and than u dont need any cold water on.there should be a mini fridge in the room.for the money you pay there should be entertaining for the Christmas package.other than restaurant which was very good and staff was wonderful.

Situated in a quaint, quiet, out-of-the-way, wooded spot, Digby Pines is a nice hotel but out-dated and in need of updates. (They're actually doing a lot of renovations, but they mostly appear to be external.)

The staff were incredibly friendly and tried to be super helpful, but internal communication was lacking (we were told to make a reservation for NYE dinner.when we called, we were told they'd been booked for a month. We were told the ice machine on our floor had been fixed.when we found it, there was an out-of-order sign and it definitely wasn't working.just little things that added-up over our 2-day stay). Although, throughout the weekend staff communicated with guests by placing plenty of notes under our doors, which we found very helpful!

PROS: Location. Great shower pressure, with hot, hot water. Super-comfortable mattress (I had the BEST sleep I've ever had at a hotel). Staff friendliness was second-to-none. Room/bathroom cleanliness was great (actually, the hotel and the grounds were also very clean).

CONS: No mini-fridge or microwave in our room, the new heat pump was super noisy, the door handles and toilet were better suited to midgets than average/tall people.

It's not really a "con", but the bathroom was super small and both the bathroom and our bedroom needed a refresh.a little modernisation.

Note: we booked through a travel site and when we arrived, our reservation had not been made. The customer service agent at Digby Pines that we dealt with moved people around and was able to accommodate our original booking the night before NYE. AND she gave us a discount for "our troubles". When I say the staff were great, I totally mean the staff were great!

Also, they had a gorgeous outdoor heated pool and a spa. We didn't avail of either, but definitely will the next time we book in.

My partner and I booked the Spa Weekend package at the Digby Pines for our anniversary weekend in late November. I was quite sure I had booked a suite but, upon arrival discovered they had us in a tiny room. The room was cold. The entire hotel was a bit chilly. This is their first winter opening and they haven’t quite mastered the heating. Our room had a heat pump, but it hadn’t yet been set up. And there was still an air conditioner in the window from the summer, with winter winds blowing in around it. In fact, I’m not sure anyone had set foot in the room since the summer. While not yet functioning, the heat pump had flashing lights. They removed the air conditioner upon request and the room warmed up a bit.

Dinner was good overall, although my partner’s seafood chowder was very watery, with very tiny pieces of seafood and vegetables. The haddock was smoked, which was overpowering and gave the chowder an odd flavour. If a chef in Digby, a seafood mecca, can only nail one dish, it should be the seafood chowder. This was a fail. Our entrees, scallops with mushroom risotto, were outstanding. Dessert was good too.

Back to the room, we soon discovered a major leak in the bathroom. And I mean major. As soon as you turned on the tap, water gushed onto the floor from beneath the sink. We let that slide for the night. The bed was very comfortable, a high priority for me. But the flashing lights on the heat pump were a distraction and made it hard to sleep. In the morning, I reported the problem of the leak and the flashing lights to a clearly irritated front desk clerk, who dispatched a very friendly handyman. He said he thought he fixed the leak, and taped cardboard over the flashing lights. At no point did anyone suggest upgrading, or at least changing our room. But we were quite tired of the tiny room and all of its problems by this point. So I asked if there was a suite available. The receptionist, again plainly annoyed at having to deal with me, said they could move us to a room down the hall. I asked if it was a better room, subtly hinting that we’d appreciate some compensation for our trouble. She said no it’s just a different room. Again I raised the question as to the availability of a suite. She reluctantly informed me that there was one suite available but it would cost me an extra $80. Again, no suggestion of ameliorating our frustration in any way. Plus, she had no one to show the room to me. She agreed to make me a key so I could go look at it myself. After our first night’s experience, I wasn’t willing to commit to the suite sight unseen. Apart from a stained carpet, a contact lens on the bathroom floor, and a long hair hanging on a lamp, I figure it would do. Lots more space than the first room. Once booked, there was no one to help us move. Had to do it ourselves. No bell service of any kind. A big beautiful fireplace and a lobby bar, both sitting idle.

I should mention that all of the closets in all of the rooms have been sealed for some reason. So you have to hang your clothes around your room.

The spa was small but lovely. Service was great. Massages were fabulous.

All in all, some good aspects but not worth the 3 hour drive or the price point. I generally love old historic places. I like to support them and I wish them success. But the Pines has a lot of work to do before I would ever be comfortable recommending it. I will return once more because I want to go whale watching. But that will be my last visit.
11 December 2022 12:44
Great resort. Nice atmosphere and grounds. Staff are excellent. Food is great. Rooms still need a little more updating. Did not get to golf this time, but the course is a gem.
01 December 2022 4:17
I just went for the day to play a round of golf and i really enjoyed the course. Well maintained located really close to the ferry to new brunswick if youre travelling. Havent eaten or had drinks at their establishment due to going in the off season but look forward to checking it out next summer.
22 November 2022 21:15
Old-world style of hotel which we both enjoyed. Room was a bit small and a bit tired, but this was more than compensated by an enormous lounge (with interesting furniture) equipped with board games etc. Also a large conservatory with views over Digby Harbour. Restaurant good with very friendly service. I hope they don't lose the old world atmosphere when they renovate.
13 November 2022 7:15
Great stay and awesome food. Restaurant made accommodations for our late arrival and service was amazing.
18 October 2022 12:42
Really loved the stay. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage with a wood burning fireplace. A little dated but clean, quaint and comfortable. The staff set the fire everyday! The grounds were beautiful and lots of trails with beautiful views. A hot breakfast buffet was also included. Finally, a stunnung heated swimming pool which made for a great early morning swim. I would return and recommend!
14 October 2022 6:17
There was 6 or us who went there to celebrate my mom's bday. The food was amazing, the waitresses were amazing everything was very clean and we will be back for sure that was my first time there
03 October 2022 15:02
Maybe my expectations are high but for the çost per night I expected better service and definitely rooms not furnished from the 80s. The whole experience was poor with badly equipped and furnished rooms to the poor organization in the restaurant with cold food. Very dissapointed.
27 September 2022 19:56
This place had a modern age 1930s feel. Beautiful old architecture, warming and helpful service by all staff. The food from the restaurant and the chef they have was absolutely fantastic at every course. Great freshly made omelettes. Very large enclosed pool, great for swimming. Beautiful view from the hill and rear rooms. Golf course was also beautiful and a nice play. Highly recommended to stay at this place and play a round of golf.
26 September 2022 13:11
I stayed at the pines for 3 days this weekend. Check in day started in a bump and they placed my family in a cabin that was not what they booked one year ago. We were here for a wedding so our family planned out that we would have the section of cottages closed to the pool. When we arrived we didn’t get that which was unfortunate and staff did not try and find a solution for the problem. The grounds are beautiful and have some great views and I enjoyed the pool and all the history of this place. The breakfast buffet was amazing and I loved the bread pudding with apples. It was a little pricey for food but worth it.the food all weekend was great the only thing I was disappointed was the fish for the fish and chips dinner you could easily tell it wasn’t freshly battered fish and that it came from Sysco. This place was a great venue for a wedding and the hall was great bar staff were awesome through out the evening. I was pretty bummed that music had to end at 1am. The DJ for the resort that was part of the wedding package sucked. Your better off making a Spotify playlist instead of a DJ because he did not know how to transition into other songs. I get it he played off a list but he has to learn how to transitions into songs and not play until the very end. All in all I give the experience a 3/5 better service and organization with booking and check in is needed. Don’t go half empty give it all to your guests to make it a memorable experience for all.
17 September 2022 6:31
Terrible room. No closet, no iron, dirty stained carpet in the room, and very slow service. The waitress brought us bread but NO butter. The kids are crying since they took so long to bring out the kids meal. Ridiculous! Do not recommend! Also upon check in, there was a charge to my room for breakfast for $60. How can I be charged for breakfast if I arrived in the evening around 5: 30pm. At diner right now it’s been 2 hours and no food and no update on the eta on dinner.
09 September 2022 7:57
Beautiful hotel but in need of updating, rooms are incredibly small, not enough workers to support all services, no outdoor food/bar service while we were there. The breakfast and diner was very good especially with the views in the dining room.
21 August 2022 12:56
This is an old place and while updates have been done the place still has that back in time charm. Food is ok, service is decent but the fella driving the shuttle to and from the course was my favourite. We had the cottages (though I have stayed inside) and these were great for the “boys weekend” we had planned. The golf was solid, the course was in good shape and I gotta say the beds were comfy. Why only 2 stars? Well, this place had charged me for two meals I was less to believe are included-which I was not able to get ahold of anyone to recoup. Life goes on, BUT then another $154 charged to me some 3 months after I stayed. I have emailed, left VM, called numerous times and got no where. I know the reasons are what they are for the lack of humans on the other end of phones these days BUT someone could call back/write an email. Anyways, this has left a sour taste in my mouth and I’d struggle to return or recommend this spot given my experience after leaving. Which is too bad, Digby is a nice place to visit.
09 August 2022 23:53
Myself and three others were so happy with the first year, we said 2022 we will return.
This was the second year to stay at Digby Pines and enjoy the golf package which included the cottage facilities.
The front desk staff were friendly, and accomadating and made us feel we were welcomed.
The restaurant, what a group of polite young waiters and waitresess.
Highly knowledgable of the food provided and then again very personable of themselves when asked their school background. Would like to say we have a great group of young men and women studying to better thremselves in this Province. Further to say whomever interviewed these young men and women knew what they were doing because all was checked, manners, personality, neatness all did apply for the persons we had the opportunity to meet and speak with these past two years.
The food, the preparedness. (Excellent)
The taste, great.
You golf, then you are shuttled over to the course and shuttled back.
Can't beat that.
The cottage (wow) Fireplace.bedrooms, livingroom. So comfortable and step outside, you have a view of the ocean and boats going by as you sit on the deck outside the cottage.
So, hopefully who reads this, will give it a try.
By the way, our small group are booking again for 2023.
Thanks and have a great day.

We attended a wedding here. Beautiful venue and well organized. The cake decorator needed a refrigerator due to the outside temperature melting icing, and the hotel quickly helped and provided a fridge. Dinner service was amazing. Highly recommend, it's expensive but the food and presentation meets the price point. I had surf and turf, $53. Photo attached.

Cons: I asked for the steak to be rare, it was medium-well. $53 dollar plate I expect this detail to be precise. Ordered a mojeto. The mojeto was made with a mixed flavored simple syrup, instead of muddling Mint, sugar and lime juice together. I was really hoping it would be made correctly instead of with simple syrup. A shortcut expected in a night club, not in a restaurant to this standard. This would of been a 5 star review if the steak came as ordered. Everything else was spot on.
04 July 2022 17:13
Old site with a lot of charm. We stayed only at the hotel and did not play golf. Rooms are a little small but very comfortable. No fridges in the room but premium nespresso machine is a nice touch. Make sure to mention if you have mobility issues before staying there. Our room was in a wing solely accessible by stairs and at the main entrance stairs are the only way to get luggage in. Staff is mostly helpful (especially at the restaurant who even offered to bring our drinks outside on the terrace) but Bellboy will just look at you getting your luggage. Restaurant on site is very good and worth trying. Pool is heated and fairly sheltered from the wind.

If you’re staying with your pet consider an Air BnB or another hotel. The “pet rooms” are teeny tiny and right next to a stairwell that is apparently “off limits”. However, guests were running up and down the stairs all night and slamming the entry/exit door. There was an unruly guest in the stairwell/hallway until the wee hours of the morning obliterated drunk screaming all sorts of profanities.which I guess you can expect from a wedding destination.

Our second night was no better, the guests in the room beside us left their dog in the room all day/night and it howled and barked until they returned.

The hotel has an old style feel to it, which is nice… but the rooms could use some updating

When we told management about this all they did was offer complimentary breakfast, which we weren’t able to take part in due to our schedule.

So much for a relaxing weekend away…

Amazing place. Very polite and friendly. View from room was nice. Pool was so warm. Everything clean.
04 October 2019 10:06
Amazing trip to the pines cottage was great love that it is 2 self contained rooms within the cottage great for sharing with another couple each room has its own bathroom and the fire place was beautiful. We went to briar island to whale watch and it was worth the trip there highly recommend

I love Digby Pines. The buildings and structures and grounds are stunning and immaculate. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
21 September 2019 4:15
I have stayed here numerous times. The resort is beautiful. The pool and spa are amazing. The golf course is really good. The food is great, especially the buffet breakfast. But most of all, the staff just go way out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect. I will be back again soon.
15 September 2019 14:44
First time going on this golf adventure. It was amazing the golf course, resort and people all A1. Plan on making this trip every year now.
10 September 2019 17:41
Nicest place in Digby. Very grand central areas and hallways. Rooms are on the small side. Bathrooms are in need of an update- they are very "tired" and the 1980s decor does not match the rest of the room. Would be nice to have a small fridge and glassware that isn't plastic and paper. Restaurant is lovely with great food and service. The grounds are lovely too.
09 September 2019 9:24
Truly a mature course built with the true golfer in mind. No gimme's on this course. In excellent condition despite the lack of rain.
08 September 2019 3:12
Disappointing stay. We were booked into a 2 bedroom lodge. On arrival, we found the floor hadn't been cleaned, 2 air conditioning units weren't working, and the decor/furnishings looked like they were from the 1970's. Having complained, we were upgraded to an executive suite, hence giving a generous 3 star rating. Whilst this was more than ample for the 3 of us, the decor and furnishings were still very tired and dated. The whole resort needs a makeover to bring it up to date and improve the appearance. In my opinion the resort is overrated.
03 September 2019 1:38
This Pines (Hotel) exudes class and charm from a bygone era. The room we stayed in was charming and unique.offering a water view, which was lovely. The staff is wonderful and the grounds are immaculate. The pool is like nothing I have ever seen before, and stood out as the highlight of our stay. The restaurant was well appointed with nice views, friendly staff and atmosphere. The food was very well prepared and presented. The burger was phenomenal, as were the scallops (as expected!) I would like to give a secondary review on the menu and selection however. The menu wasn’t very creative or appealing. The ‘lounge menu’ and the kids menu were complete losses. It’s as if these two menus were purposely bad as to not be encouraged. Please It would be nice to see more seafood, and a chowder option without pork (everyone loves bacon but me.so that’s personal!). The main menu was ok. But seemed heavy on the fried food. Now the food.in general is was prepared very well. We did have a sad Caesar salad at dinner (flaccid). And very weak iced tea. My main complaint would be the price of the breakfast buffet. For $18 dollars I would expect a little more than sausage eggs and pancakes. I can practically get your offerings at the Super 8 and it’s free! Does the Chef dislike cheese? I’m going to stop here. We will definitely return because the hotel is beautiful. We will overlook the food.and hope it improves on our next visit! Thank you Digby Pines! You are a little diamond!

Originally built in 1903 and now owned by the Province of Nova Scotia. Elegant, classic hotel with friendly helpful staff. The hotel has recently opened for the The grounds are lovely, the rooms and common areas nicely decorated. In a hotel this nice you’d expect glass cups and mugs but only plastic and paper in the room. Since it is a classic hotel, the rooms tend to be smaller with less outlets. The bathroom is very tight. The lighting is good.
29 August 2019 22:39
I gave this place a 4 star rating mainly because there was no 3.5
Found it very clean and accommodating however, bang for buck, having no refrigerator in my room was a bit of a nuisance. At the charged price to stay, expectations were high and as a "signature resort" those expectations were further fueled. Having said that, it was not my first stay at this location however, my hopes and expectations were not fulfilled.
22 August 2019 19:25
Amazing experience. The room was small but super nice. The bed was amazing. The food was amazing. The entertainment was good. The stand out was that our server at night was there in the day and i meantioned i loved blueberry pancakes so she had the chef add blueberry pancakes even though they didnt have them at breakfast that day

Haven't stayed there but would love to give it a shot. Fun to wander around and suck up the ambiance. Classic, classy holiday destination. Afternoon tea would be a must.
