District 5 Bar & Grill

Had the steak wrap as that's what the server suggest, was ok kinda sloppy.ordered the all dressed fries as an app. They were good, but cold. And then pretty much the same fries came with the wrap. Server should have said when we ordered.was cold in there too not sure what was up with heat. We were there during trivia night, it was a full house. Atmosphere was great.

Tried this place for the first time last night on a recommendation from a friend. The service was great, the food was really really good and they even had some live entertainment which was also very enjoyable. Hopefully some day they'll have a full size fish sandwich! Haha I'll be back.

I got the Eggs Benny, it was delicious! The biscuit was fresh, tasted great, and fell apart. The salad had a very tasty dressing and the smash home fries were great I will go back. They need to update their menu on their website.

We decided to try District 5 as we had never been before. Great ambience, friendly staff and the food was delicious at an incredible value (pro tip, get the curried mussels). Thanks to Chef Rico and our server Hailey for their hospitality! We will be back.

Got to the restaurant at 6pm. Ordered drinks then my meal at 6: 30. An hour and a half later still no meal. Worst service I have ever experienced. Last time here for me.

Talk about a hidden gem. Who would guess that a bar & grill in downtown Dartmouth would have one of the best brunches in the city?

The menu isn’t huge, but the portions and quality make up for it. Plus, they have free Mimosas and Caesars! You’re welcome!

Went with a friend this morning for brunch. This was my first time and I can say wholeheartedly everything was phenomenal. I was hyped about chicken waffles and it wasn't short of amazing. The chicken was tasty and bacon was crunchy! Waffles were served with maple syrup! The service was wonderful too, we were the first ones in and although few more tables came in, the server didn't neglect us. Coffee was too strong for me but it's caffeine so that's not really a bad thing lol. Free mimosa with brunch is also a score! I highly recommend this place for a good brunch meal. Just go!

Food was fantastic and prepared in a refreshingly traditional way way. We've been there a few times and both times they seemed reluctant to make weekend brunch, which seemed odd.

When District 5 first opened I was excited cause it was a new addition to the area that seemed promising. My first visit was just a few weeks after they opened, and the server was seemingly confused and made some errors, but I hashed it up to the place being new. Then a few months later I reached out via social media asking about whether they were showing a certain sporting event. I didn’t get a reply, which is understandable, but a week later I looked and the message said ‘read’, but there was no reply. Seemed unwelcoming that there was no reply. Anything would have been better than that nothing.

My mom, being new to the world of delivery apps was wowed by them. And I hashed it up to her appreciating good fish and chips (maybe it’s true?). But her rave reviews had me wonder if my disappointments were just bad timing on my end.

I still waited several months before I went back, because there’s reliably great places in the neighbourhood. My girlfriend and I flipped a coin over whether to try district 5, which she had never been to, or Jacob’s Lounge, which has never let us down. District 5 won the coin toss.
It was the same as before. Confused service, choppy delivery, and the food was fine, but kind of disappointing itself, and couldn’t make up for the lacklustre experience.

Overall, it feels like a place launched by people that never worked in the service industry, tried to check all the boxes they saw on Bar Rescue when they launched, and then forgot to bring in seasoned staff to train people, so it’s a bar that would be featured on Bar Rescue.
When we were going, my girlfriend made fun of me because she felt I must have been embellishing my two prior disappointments with this bar, but she understood what I meant quickly enough. Also, they should turn the heat on, it was really chilly in there.
I gave two stars because at least they made my mom happy those times.

Every time we’ve eaten in the restaurant - (sadly only one time?), or when we’ve ordered deliver it’s been sooooo good. I keep telling my partner that it seems like the chef and I have such a similar taste palette because I’m just so in love with the spice and flavour of everything.

Me and my wife just tried this place recently, and it was delicious! We got the variety platter to share (not pictured) and I got the D5 burger. Although the burger was pretty plain (which is what I like), it was delicious! Oh, and the portions are more than fair.

If you're into having a few drinks with your meal, try "The District 5"! It was incredible. I took a picture so I could replicate it at home

Decided to check this place out for the first time today, for brunch with a friend. I felt bad that we were the only customers from 10 til about 11, but it made for a nice, peaceful meal compared to busier places which I find can be loud and annoying. I didn't count, but would say there's seating for maybe 25-30 amongst the several tables. Friendly service. Free mimosa with each breakfast meal! I never order them but couldn't say no to that and really enjoyed mine, made with grapefruit juice. Good sized mugs of coffee. They had run out of avocado, and we both were hoping to have ordered the avocado toast. But that was fine, I still enjoyed the main basic breakfast of standard brown toast, eggs, bacon, potatoes and salad. The potatoes were seasoned and cut into big crispy chunks that I liked. My friend quite enjoyed the eggs benny that had a dollop of basil pesto, that also comes with salad. A cute touch was that the server brought out bite-sized samples of raspberry cheesecake on a skewers for us to sample. We were both full leaving and I'd not want dessert after a breakfast, but still good to try. I'd definitely go back here soon.

I ordered the calamari and loaded fries to go, and was blown away! They have the most fun mix of flavours I’ve had in a loaded poutine in HRM! Hands down. The food was full of flavour, but light, not heavy. It was amazing, will be back!

Beautiful interior, friendly staff trying their best during burger week (1h 15m from entry to food), music too loud, causing everyone else to talk even louder to try to speak over it. The burger week combo with regular and Donair meat was missing something.

Had a wonderful luch, maybe the best nachos and wings I have ever had. Sam was a great server, very engaging. Recommended for anybody who is looking for more interesting flavours from a casual spot.

I ordered a sirloin wrap with their signature fries and I have to say the meal was fabulous and extremely tasteful.

The server was alone and running off her feet. Despite being alone, she was very cheerful.

I hope District 5 hires another server or two.

Food and service was amazing! I had the burger and it was one of the best I had in the city and my wife had the fried chicken, it was delicious. Can't wait to go and try the rest of the menu.

It was our first time there. The waitress was very nice and our food was tasty but not outstanding. I was disappointed that there seemed to be a few regulars there that were not being asked to keep their masks on as they wandered about the bar area and restaurant.

FABULOUS! Found this gem by googling pubs near me when in Dartmouth, and soooo glad we tried it. Excellent perfectly cooked food, great plating presentation, service friendly and prompt, drink menu was extensive, highly recommend their signature drinks.can't wait to go back again

We had the Darkside Chucky from burger week and the loaded fries. It was a toss up to which was the family favorite! The service was wonderful, from my phone call to place the order to our pickup of the meal.great experience all throughout!

6 stars if I could surprised the care in preparation of food went on a weekday wasn't busy. Had the chowder and a salad I will call a dance of tomatoes (forget name)

East coast sets a standard for seafood chowders, on that day district 5's was one of the lightest chowders I ever had with a range of fresh sea foods placed with care in the bowl. I love the heavy creamy chowders but the light one they had was almost rejuvenating.

I'm weird went with a salad main. It had 2 different types of tomatoes the theme almost and cheese small enough pieces they mixed in every bite. I was slightly haunted by how good it was leaving the pub it was like a storm of tomatoes had danced in my memories.

A great last meal in Dartmouth the beer on tap probably amplified the flavor
