Went for a two night stay in loop A, the pictures on the website weren't up to date and the majority of our lot was gravel and not grass like the picture showed. The "driveway" was mud and had to use the 4WD to get up close enough to set up camp (almost had to carry everything up the hill). When booking it showed only a few campsites available but during our stay the majority of the sites where left unused. The path to go to the lake was very muddy and rough to walk down the steep hill. The bathrooms are a decent walk to get to from most of the campsites and ran out of paper towels very early in the day despite only a few campsites being used in the loop.

So about 645 the security guard came screeching into our campsite throwing rocks at our vehicle shouting that if he got one more noise complaint about us he was kicking us out. Our music was on but not loud. We had gone to every other site around us to say if the music was too loud we would be happy to turn it down. Everyone said they loved it and had no issues. We attempted to tell the security guard this but he yelled at is that he didnt want to hear our excuses and yelled that everyone around us was leaving because of our music. We could clearly see this was a lie. He was rude and extremely unprofessional.
The bathrooms were so far from our campsite we had to drive there. They were dirty and not well maintained.
The path to the water was not well maintained and needed work.
I would not recommend this place and likely will not be returning.

Not so much a reflection on Dollar Lake, although the washrooms do give me prison break vibes, but more a comment on the NS parks website in general. Paying a 30% surcharge for the privilege of using a website (9$ on a 26$ campsite) felt like a bit much. Provincial parks (and national, but that's another story) should be numerous, large, and free, like in other developed countries (in my opinion). At the very least, we shouldn't have to pay a third party web developer for the booking service - any second rate dev could make the same site and not charge a 30% fee in perpetuity to maintain the site.

Love the camping spot, great spot a bit crowded and always has bacteria problems but fun place.

A perfect place
Warm water, clean changing rooms and washrooms, ample parking spots.
The only downside is that there is almost no signal in the area. But this is a telecom monopoly problem.

We had a great time this past weekend at dollar like provincial Park. The washrooms were clean and the campgrounds were large and sparse. We camp rain or shine and the weather should never be a deterrent to enjoying the outdoors! I love sleeping in the hammock in the rain!

So peaceful. I got to drive my bike around. Go paddleboarding. Lake is right there. Lots are HUGE. Can't wait to go back.
