Kicked out when not drunk at all by short, blonde haired manager. Not the first time I’ve felt targeted at this bar. Absolutely no reason. Garbage bar with no accountability between staff and the business.

We were very disappointed with how the servers are made to work in conditions that didn't seem safe or comfortable. Apparently there hasn't been any heat there since Sept. They were freezing, the customers were cold, trying to keep warm with space heaters - unacceptable!

If you order doubles, they charge you for two drinks instead of just the extra shot. If you order a donair, even though it says it will come with fries, it doesn't.

Three people I was with ordered Donair, menu said handhelds come with fries but server gave bad excuse that it's the one that doesn't even though menu doesn't state that anywhere so they were all dissapointed, my partner and I ordered doubles expecting to pay for a second shot of alcohol but was charged for a second drink which is ridiculous, server was all over the place with terrible excuses, terrible experience

Food was not good at all very bland and not flavourful. Definitely a place to just drink not eat.

Ordered a burger and fries, woth no jalapeños, burger comes with jalapeños. The server tries to take the fries from me to make a new burger. I keep the fries and we wait for the second burger. Second burger comes and its decent. More expensive than i would have liked but its not terrible. I go to the bathroom with my meal half done and the server clears my burger and throws it out, my jacket and phone are still on the table. My server then disappears to the far end of the restaurant for like 20 minutes and i have to flag down a dofferent server to sort go get her. They offer to replace the burger but its already late, ive almost eaten a full burger between the 2 that come out. They wont give me a coupon for a burger next time i come in. They end up comping an amaretto sour for me but overall the service wasnt amazing. Also they cut my mic during open mic which felt very disrespectful.

The place seems more touristy and more expensive than I remember, but the washrooms are still authentically dirty. Food and service were both very good.

It was a busy night in downtown and we were welcomed with a table for eight. The waitress was nice. The table was not very clean. I bought chicken wings, 1 lb, I don't believe I was given a lb of wings. Really liked the onion rings.

They just seemed to seat us and forget about us. Gave us a food menu but never saw a food waitress. Took our drink order, then seemed to forget about our drinks-took 20+ minutes to get but finally got our drinks, drank them, paid and left.
Maybe just an off night for them but we won’t be back.

Ordered from here on Uber eats a few times. I paid $17 for a donair poutine and it had no cheese.

As a vegetarian, this is my favourite place for a meal in the city. They have tacos, a vegan wrap and appetizers. Just look how much cheese is on this Flatbread! I love the decor, service is always quick, and kind; a perfect balance between attentive and non-intrusive no matter who is working. Recommending this place every chance I get.

Oh what happened to you? Went here all excited with my family to share the nachos of the shoe shop. But oh how things have changed. I’m sure theses days there is better elsewhere. I made better nachos at home; read to the end and you will see why 1) we ordered our food 3 burgers, 1 club and nachos for the table. 45 minute wait. It was not busy maybe half full. 2) the waitress came around to check on drinks twice before our food arrived and said would be right back to refill water for the 2 people who were drinking it; our food showed up finally and no water 3) asked again for water, this time filled a glass to the top and spilled water on my fries and plate. Got an ooops sorry no offer to replace my fries which turned soggy very quickly. 3) our nachos did not arrive with the the other mains we were told they would be right out. 4) after we have all finished our meals still no nachos; people beside us got theirs delivered 5) when the waitress came back at to check on everything when meal was about done I said “there was nachos with order and told they were coming right, we no longer want them. Her response was I’m sorry our kitchen has been messed up lately. That was not the response I would except and to pass the buck on the kitchen is unacceptable; you are the person who took the order and needs to make sure what has been ordered is served. If the kitchen messes up, you get them to correct it. Take ownership on your missteps. I typically tip 25-30% not once in 20 years have I been so frustrated with such a complete lack of service that I tipped 0% until today. So as you can see I can make better nachos at home because I did not even get what I went for

Okay food. Okay drink. Nothing special. Good for sparing off-work time, but it's just nothing special.

Oh, btw, Do Not order lobster Roll here. It's overpriced for some preserved lobster meat.

Fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere. I love that the Nacho's are layered, the mozzarella sticks are phenomenal. The attention to detail did not only meet but exceed expectations:) service was excellent, polite and friendly.

P.s This is also home of the dirty burger as it's owned by the trailer park boys

Belle endroit, bonne musique. Option sans gluten. J'ai prit un cheesebuger poutine, c'était très bon! Frites avec tout les ingredients d'un cheeseburger (sauf le pain) avec une sauce au fromage. Mon conjoint a prit le Smoked bacon mac and cheese servit abec des petits pains grillés, délicieux.

Great spot for greasy pub food. Very lively at night with local music, and a favourite of the University students. I would know, I used to come in my younger days.

Delicious reasonable food. It is opposite from Moxies. Nice hostesses. We had a variety of food. From chicken wings to burgers to fish and chips. Ate here 2x. Reasonable prices. They also have happy hour in the week if you love to drink. Busy place. People go and come all the time.

Pleasant bar with decent food options in a perpetually odd part of town (edge of business, political and party scenes) with options to people watch. Beers on tap have a reasonable selection and prices are equally reasonable. Only downfall is parking can be tricky with mostly street parking near.

Went on a Friday night and was seated promptly outside on the busy patio. The waitress was lovely. The food, on the otherhand, was absolutely appalling. It took an hour for four meals, despite there being no guests inside, and even the nachos were near inedible with cold, unmelted cheese. The kitchen appeared to be bustling and fully staffed, but I'm not sure how anyone could mess up nachos and a caesar salad. Probably would have had a better meal next door at Subway.

It took over 10 minutes to be given drink and food menus after we were seated. It then took 20 minutes for our server to check on us and take our drink orders. We ended up waiting over an hour for nachos, a burger, and onions rings. Our server kept saying our food would be out in 5 minutes. But this kept up until we waited over an hour. Tables who were seated after us received their food much quicker. I have no idea why every other table was taken care of except us, our server had no answers. My girlfriend is black, I hate to think this is the reason everyone else around us (white) were served so quickly. It made no sense. It’s very disappointing to have such terrible unaware service at a staple bar of Halifax.

Great food and attentive service, but the new prices are too high for what you get. My final bill - food, drinks, and tips included - was 25% than my last visit.

First time I’ve felt the need to leave a review somewhere. Arrived there, chatted with the bouncer and waited for a table. Once we got seated, we waited around 10 min for drinks and no one came. The bouncer finally comes back and lets us that the waitress will not serve us as we have drank too much. This was after 10 min of sitting a table quietly and not having any interaction with the waitress. Never felt so disrespected in a restaurant/bar in what seems to have been genuine laziness and not wanting to serve us late at night. Would not recommend going here and the one star is for the bouncer that was very polite and apologetic about the situation.

Sat down by staff right away. No staff gave us menus, water or even make eye contact for over 20mins. Tried to get staff attentinon with no success before finally deciding to leave. Stop seating people if ypu dont have the staff to serve them. Waste of time

Shoe Shop nachos are a rite of passage for anyone headed out for a night in Halifax, or to conclude said night in Halifax.the deep fried pepperoni was also awesome. Definitely a bit chaotic in terms of trying to be sat, and then figuring out who would be taking care of the table - but totally a sign of the times. They did a great job despite some of the hiccups, again, which are to be expected nowadays. Would love to expand on the review, but they were out of a lot of the items on the menu on this particular visit.

Food was meh, ordered the onion rings and mozza sticks. Both over fried, mozza sticks were from frozen / store bought. Wife had the mac and cheese which was completely drowning in the sauce and I had the Big Shoe. First the server didn't know what was on it. (If you have a named item after your own restaurant your staff should know it) patties were like rubber and again just too much sauce. Fries were over salted and cold/soggy. Wife only ate half her plate and I only ate the burger. Over all not great experience.

The service was very good. I wasn't totally happy with my order. It didn't taste bad but it lacked in substance.

False advertising from server, informed us that drafts are on special for $5 but bill came up to $7.75 per drink. Didn’t apologize or nothing and made it seem like it was our mistake.

Was a little dark when we walked in and the paper menus were a bit odd buttttt the food was absolutely amazing and the drinks were great as well. Didn’t see the trailer park boys tonight but definitely a must for groups and the boys.

Dropped in late last night following my flight into to Halifax. A famous spot according to many friends. It has atmosphere and a warm vibe. Serving Murphy's Irish Stout.

We were waiting to be seated when one host promised us a patio seat. A second host sat someone waiting after us to the open patio seat before and did not apologize after the fact. Very disrespectful of our time as we had been waiting quite some time while the second group had just arrived

Their offering for burger week was great! The restaurant has great layout and decor. Excellent value and quality food.

Got the nachos and for a place that used to be known for their nachos years ago, they were average at best. Very dissapointed. Service and staff were good though.
