This place is so good that I forgot to take a picture lol. The chowder was the best chowder I've had so far and the poutine was really good.

Delicious lobster roll ($25) and chowder! The order took about 20 mins to receive but both dishes were worth the wait.
PS the Indian food stall opposite Evan’s has incredible food and is worth visiting.

Had the lobster roll, scallops and seafood chowder. They all tasted pretty good. However the price point is a bit too steep in my opinion, specially considering the portion sizes. We ended up spending over 60 dollars for two people (including tax and tip) and were hungry even after the meal. Moreover the dining area is also just inside the Dartmouth ferry terminal - not that fancy to warrant the price.

Food was amazing especially the seafood chowder and the calamari that came with the seafood platter. Definitely will go back if we go to Halifax again

TLDR: cooked lobster is perfect, service is amazing but the lobster roll is a bit sad

Heard many good things about this place. Had the lobster roll with really high hope, but the balance of the roll seemed off. Way too much veggies and not enough lobster for the price (about $25 for a single roll without sides, we added a salad for an extra $5 to make a combo). As a comparison, The Bicycle Thief offers lobster roll with fries and salad for $26 and is much superior in taste.
We also bought the cooked lobsters, and they are perfect, fresh, plump, and affordable. Overall good place to get seafood.

VERY disappointed this visit. Ordered 3 pcs of fish as its one of the only places thst offer gluten free snd i got 1 good size piece and 2 pieces half the size?

Our first visit in Nova Scotia, we had to try many lobster rolls. I have to say Evan’s had one of the best ones!

Ate lunch here for the first time today! I will absolutely be a regular now! Staff were friendly, the view was amazing, and the food was the most delicious I've had in the 8 years I've lived in Dartmouth!

Some of the best fish in the city. I love the one-piece fish and half chips, half spinach salad for only $10. Insanely delicious. The haddock tacos and scallop tacos are also amazing. You can dine-in and sit outside, enjoying the waterfront. If you ask for water they will give you glasses and a chilled bottle for the table. A nice hybrid of self-serve and semi table service. Very nice staff.

Surprisingly delicious & friendly staff. We got the fish cakes, homemade baked beans, fresh oysters and the fish and chips. Only 4.5 stars from me due to the fact they are in the dingy dartmouth ferry terminal. These guys definitely need & deserve their own space, so much better than you'd think!

The food was amazing. Being from out of province, I was hoping for a couple fresh options.

Great experience. Had dinner here 3 nights out of 4 while in Dartmouth. Looking forward to visiting again the next time we are in town.

I think it was our favorite place to grab food when we stayed at Halifax. We ate there 3-4 times, even though Halifax has a lot to offer food wise. First of all, the staff there is super friendly. Second, and most important, everything there was just so ridiculously delicious.

Really nice fish and chips.
The coating is thin and you really get to enjoy the fish.
The lobster? Poutine was very tasty too.

My husband and I went there to order sea food chowder soup and we are both disappointed. He ordered big bowl and I got small bowl, but they are both look small. The soup wasn't creamy at all, very runny. Seafood inside only has one scallop, very few lobster (I couldn't find any) and a lot of fish. My husband's soup added mussels but there are only three mussels inside. Overall, what they served was pricy. A lot of people show good sea food chowder pics, I'm not sure if we had the same stuff.

Absolutely worth the stop. We took the ferry over, and it’s a few minutes from the terminal. The Fish and Chips were delicious. The sweet potato Fry option is a must. The fish sandwich is the same haddock from the fish and chips. Lobster roll was delicious with decent amount of lobster chunks. The Cajun Mayo was a pleasant surprise to dip the fish or the fried in.

When I saw gluten free fish and chips and great reviews I had to go. Sadly, I was really disappointed.
The fish was over cooked / dry and under seasoned. The clam strips were rubbery and under seasoned, and the tartar sauce was a one note fat bomb …. No pickle / no caper / no acid …. Nothing to cut the fat. The standout was the scallop …… sweet and moist and delicious. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but it just wasn’t great food today in my opinion. I suspect I had an off day.

Amazing place. We got the seafood platter, a lobster roll, and a lobster poutine.

The deep fried scallops are fresh, large, and great tasting! I also liked the deep fried clams as well. I was surprised at how strong of a taste they had. The deep fried fish is prepared differently than I am used to as the fish is a thinner fillet. However, it was drier than I would like, as a result.
The lobster roll was very good. It's on a hot dog bun but you're not eating this for the bun. You can really taste the lobster.
Same with the lobster poutine.
Definitely recommend this place!

I've been going to Evans for years and it is my go to place for a quick lunch. Fish and chips, scallop burgers and fish sandwich are all great. But my Calgary brother and I tried the large seafood chowder at $12 a bowl and were both disappointed -small portion, thin (which is a matter of taste), scant seafood but lots of potatoes. On the other hand, really like all items at Evans just not the overpriced chowder.

The food was awesome! Dropped in to try the gf fish 'n' chips and gf onion rings, they were awesome!
The server taking the orders was very rude but the waitresses were very helpful and kind!

Evan’s is awesome! My sister recommended their clams and chips and it was so good! The portions were a good size and it came with plenty of condiments and utensils. Really friendly service too. We were served by one of the kids and he was professional and polite. Thanks again.

Came here on a whim as it's in the same building as the ferry terminal and I was headed across for the day. Definitely glad I stopped. I had the seafood jambalaya (might be a limited time special), and while it had some technical mistakes as far as a jambalaya goes, it does not take away from how delicious the entire meal was. Very very good seafood. I definitely will try something else on the menu as that lobster roll is calling my name. Was pretty quiet atmosphere when I was there but I imagine it can get loud as it's just in a food court area in the terminal. Overall worth the stop and would recommend.

Super friendly folks and very delicious seafood. It took more time for us to find the location but it’s worth the visit.

Bad dinning experience here, actually it is in the food court, very bad environment. We ordered the big oyster but were served with the very small one, and the oyster were not fresh enough. Not recommended.

One of the best seafood places in HRM! This lobster poutine is gluten free (as are a lot of the items on their menu) and everything is SO delicious! Love the food and the harbour front view, which are both top tier!

The food here is amazing, well priced and they have lots of great gluten free options! The even have dedicated fryers so people like me with celiac disease can enjoy most of their food! The staff is very friendly and the owner very personable.

Chowder is way too thin, feels like it’s diluted with water.

20$ of scallops + salad, there’s only 6 pieces of not so fresh scallop and half cup worth of salad.

From the reviews I could tell that this used to be a good place. But it’s just not worth the money anymore.

Ordered the famous lobster roll and scallop sandwich. Tastes are good but not as gorgeous as expected. Considering the price, the portion is limited. Spent over $40 for these two and we are barely half full.
You can certainly try but adjust your expectations.

On our recent trip to Halifax we took the ferry to Dartmouth and, on recommendation from a fellow we met at the Bicycle Thief, we grabbed a bite at Evan's. Wow! First of all we met the amazing Nathan who quickly picked up what we liked and improvised by putting the amazingly sauced lobster over homemade mashed potatoes.and added a side of scallops. With a suggestion that we enjoy it at the beer garden our tastebuds were in heaven! We also enjoyed the blueberry kombucha which is local and was so yummy.

Ive been here a bunch of times! Absolutely love the food here - one of the few places that serves deep fried scallops. You get a great portion for thebprice and the food never disappoints!

We had fried clams overlooking the harbour and it couldn't of been better. They were cooked perfectly and were a good size. It's a small market place with a great seafood menu. Great service too. We will be back.

Excellent service and food. Fantastic lobster roll! Could be a bit lower in pricing considering it is basically an office mall/terminal to sit in. Outside deck is nice but it not when raining. Staff is super friendly.

Quite probably the best fish and chips I've had in years (maybe ever)

Despite its humble appearance, Evans has blown me away every time I've been there. Super quick and efficient service, excellent portion sizes, delicious food and a great view of the Halifax Skyline makes for a "must-do" every time I'm in Dartmouth.

Tried their lobster roll, seafood chowder and fresh oysters. All were very delicious! Good amount of seafood in the soup. Even though it wasn't lobster season, the lobster roll was still very fresh, not fishy at all. I also really liked the toasted bun for the lobster roll. Would definitely recommend.

Staff were super knowledgeable about Celiac and had measures in place to care for my gluten-free needs. We ordered the fish and chips with tartar sauce, and a slice of the blueberry citrus cake. It was indescribably fantastic! The food was so good we got a carrot cake for the road, which was equally delicious. I highly recommend a visit to any Celiac. Nathan makes delicious cakes, and can make a whole GF cake if you provide 24hrs or more notice. Will absolutely visit again!

Great food Gluten free is a plus. We ordered a GF fried clams and this is the best fried clams we had. It is fresh and tasty

This is THE premier seafood spot in HRM. The chowder is loaded up to the brim with fresh fish. The cool alert system allows you to sit on multiple patios. Staff is super chill and friendly. Clams to die for.

Showed up about 5: 00 on a weekday. Recommended by a local. Kind of like a fish market counter, and also a restaurant, which is a little confusing for a westcoaster like myself.

We ordered a lobster roll with onion rings and a chowder with side salad. Ate outside, which appeared safer due to Covid.
One thing to note, there can be a significant line that can form at certain times of day. Worth it though.

Evan's Fresh Seafood lives up to the Hype! We ordered the Seafood Platter, Seafood Chowder, Scallop Tacos, Spicy Fish Burger, Reg. Fish Burger and the Fish'n'Chips and they were 10/10 for taste, presentation and freshness! We can't wait to come back again to try the other menu items! See you soon Nathan!

Great gluten-free seafood options! It was a nice experience to not have to worry about gluten contamination! And they allowed our dog to join us on their patio.

This is one of the best spots in the whole city. The lobster poutine is hands down the best dish I've had in Halifax. The burgers are excellent as well, particularly for only $6. I don't think you could get a better meal in the city for the prices.

Once again, and I can't stress this enough, the lobster poutine is perfect and out of this world delicious.

If there was only one place that I could eat at in Dartmouth it would be Evan's. I really enjoy the experience and the food that they serve. The locally caught fish makes for a great taste, and the dishes they offer are diverse, tasty, and unique.

As another user mentioned, it is kind of hidden away in Alderney landing but if you are in the mood for a great Atlantic experience, go to Evan's!

My mother and I both got the lobster roll and a salad, and it came to like $50.
We really hoped it was worth it, as that is pretty pricey for takeout. It was delicious! The bun was light and fluffy, and the roll had a lot of lobster meat in it, which does bring up the value a lot. My salad had too much celery but that’s personal preference. The house dressing was great. I would definitely go back to try more of the menu, but would highly recommend trying the lobster roll if you like lobster!

The best quality seafood I've ever had, and their preparation just highlights the quality of their product. Reasonable prices and very friendly people. Their fish and chips is cooked using a light, crispy batter and if you're like me and that's how you like it prepared, it's the best you can find.

Both of us got the squash curry with rice and soft boiled egg. It was super tasty, with quick friendy service. It was a great price for a quick dinner on the way home. Anyone should definitely give this a try if they keep it around.

I have been going to this spot for years and will continue forever if I can! I love how the whole family is involved and the fact that almost everything is gluten free, but that those without celiac still love it as much as I do. Friendly staff and great food!

I think this place has the best lobster rolls in town, but I had a bad experience one time where I felt like we were served the lobster roll on some old buns, and something about the sauce was off. This was in July 2019, so maybe it was just a one-off, but we haven't gone back since then. Perhaps we will give it another shot soon.

Not exactly a restaurant but very good and inexpensive sea food. I am definitely going to be back someday.

I had their lobster roll and a caesar salad. It was $20 and worth it. The flavour is delicious, the bun has great texture, and the lobster is fresh. The caesar salad dressing was also flavourful, yet light. The gentleman serving us was very kind and kept checking in on us if we needed water or our plates cleared. Excellent service and I would come back again. They suggested the lobster poutine.

FYI - we did pay for parking, it’s $2.50 an hour.

Great gluten free fish and chips. Add in a ferry ride and it’s a fun adventure for the kids on the waterfront before or after lunch.

This place has great breaded fish dishes, most Gluten Free, which is such a treat for those of us who must eat this way! They also have a dairy free tartar sauce. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The fish can't get any fresher than this, and it's beautifully prepared. Add to that hand cut fries and fresh garden salad and it doesn't get much better. We've also had the lobster roll and lobster poutine here, both memorable. Parking can be a hassle, but go to the parkade just across the tracks from the terminal / market building. Same price as the open air lot and no grief.

GLUTEN FREE fish and chips that's great! And no more expensive than going to Wendy's or another burger place for a meal. This is the only place I'm going for seafood or fries from now on.

Since moving in Dartmouth, the first restaurant I wanted to try in the area is the famous Evan's Seafood. This restaurant did bring good sea food quality on the plate and the service is very good, the price is amazing. Highly recommended

Amazing food, highly recommend! Always service with a smile, and seating options both inside and out. Almost all of the menu is gluten free, including the battered fish and chips and they even have house made gf chocolate and carrot cakes. Big portions, fresh local fish, and excellent prices.

We were so excited to find a restaurant where I could have fried claims that I was able to eat! Evan's GF fried clams did not disappoint and service was great. We will deffinatly be back before we head back home!

Best seafood! The fish is the freshest and the batter is super light and crunchy and not oily at all. Local family owned. Worth a trip to Dartmouth for. Their lobster poutine is sinful and dreamlike.

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Friday. Staff was delightful and the food was SO good. For $20, we had fried clams (yum), wonderful French fries and my husband had a huge bowl of mussels in garlic butter. We ate at a picnic table overlooking the water. Our new favorite place to go!

The Lobster role was good, up to when I found the large hair in it. When I took it back, all I got was a sorry and sent on my way.

Great fish 'n' chips! The fries are thick cut, generously salted and fried to perfection. The fish is breaded (not battered) and nicely seasoned. Also gluten free, for anyone with Celiac's disease.

I have offloaded boats for Evan and I can say with certainty he is probably the freshest sea food most people could ever find good job

Delicious lobster poutine, clams, and gluten free chocolate cake. Cake was dense but one of the best gluten free I've had. This place is awesome gf or not. Service was friendly. You can also buy local sausage and bacon here.
