This museum provides great information about lobster fishing. Entry to ship Theresa is included but to not the new ship that was its replacement. Make sure you talk to museum tour guides to know the history (its included in museum entry fee) else you will be wondering whats all about. Don't miss lobster talk inside museum, where they show real lobster and explain about its size, how it is caught and its conservation. Guides explain well about lobster fishing history and Lunenburg

The staff were outstanding! There is a wide variety of exhibits, including a boat. We came here with our young children and while most of the museum was a bit beyond their interests, they had an amazing time. I loved it here when I was a kid, and you can still learn something new from the incredible guides every visit. I always recommend the fisheries museum to anyone looking for a day trip.

Absolutely wonderful. This is a small well managed and well appointed museum. We were fortunate to have a terrific guide called Matthew, his enthusiasm for Maritime history was infectious.knowledgeable, keen and most engaging. I learned some facts I had never heard before and Matthew's depiction of what occurred on The Grand Banks with the fishing industry makes one feel they were actually there. I know how underfunded our museums are so I thank you as a Maritimer for working so tirelessly. I encourage the reader if they are ever in Lunenburg to go and support this museum with your presence.

I am not very knowledgeable about ships or fishing, and don't go out of my way to learn about those topics. But this was a very enjoyable museum regardless. A little aquarium with some Atlantic sea creatures, an interesting exhibit about the Bluenose II, and museum tickets get you onto two boats docked in the harbour (if the Bluenose is in, check the schedule).

Also chatted with the lovely ladies in the children's exhibit area, who taught us about natural clothing dye. Fascinating!

During COVID, the hands on displays, touch tank are non operational. One side of the fish display was not working. The upside right now is free admission. The check in covid tracing is a bit ridiculous (visit a website or text before entering building) since you also have to stop and answer questions in the admissions.
We only stayed for a short time - we have two young kids and this was uninteresting to them (and us).

Awesome experience. Very informative staff who seem about their jobs and plenty of East coast history inside of that museum. Definitely worth stopping by.

The staff were amazing. They talked with the love of Lunenburg in their hearts. Truly amazing to see so much history in one building. I hope to see the rum running display return we truly missed it.

Great staff and a great selection of things at the gift store.
The picture I posted is a Scallop vessel not to far from the Museum.
Thanks for making our visit a great one!

The guide did such a great job explaining the lobster fishery in Nova Scotia. This is a must see museum to learn about the history of Lunenburg, and how it was built on the fishery.

Well worth the trip a nice content of the area and remembrance of fisherman lost at sea. Staff and boat tour staff need to be better communicators with the public. They just don’t seem to know how. I don’t mean they are rude, it’s just that the public doesn’t know what of who or when or what’s available there for tourists.

What an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly interpretive staff! I had a wonderful time and was blown away by the exhibits and aquarium. Truly a gem in Nova Scotia and worth a visit to Lunenberg just for this.
