Good little park. My one year old had a good time. Playground was clean. Washrooms near by. Free (but very limited) parking.

Was expecting a little bit more, more stories boards and facts. News clips, informations. The maritime museum has more info than this site.

It was really good experience. I did enjoy walking by the nature and checking on the monuments. Its having a good view of the sea side. Wasn't a bussy place at all. Parking slots for diable. If its cloudy day take a jackets will be a very windy spot.

This memorial is very well done. It presents the history of the Halifax Explosion in a different and respectful way. As a space, it is a wonderful hilltop that serves as a happy open space full of sun and wind.

Beautiful park and monument. Has tons of historical facts built in to the architecture, worth checking out.

Nice playground, lots of space, out of the radio so not too many people there at a time, seems to have more parental supervision than other parks, feels safer to bring my daughter here

It is a very nice playground with a washroom, water fountains, and garden, parking, and benches. Has swing sets, slides, and things to climb.

High up park with views of both bridges and the ocean. Dog friendly and is a great place to hang out in the summer!

A must for history buffs. Incredible green space in the city overlooking the harbour where 2 ships collided on December 6,1917. Destroying the north end of Halifax.

1782 confirmed dead
Approximately 9000 injured

Their story is told in this beautiful park.

Also a great playground and washroom facilities.

A wonderful place for young and old.

Lovely park, great place to bring your family. Not a very big park but a lovely walk. It has a playground and washrooms.
21 July 2022 19:28
This is my favourite place to walk in the North End, learn about Halifax's history and the Halifax Explosion

Amazing place for morning and evening walk. It is near to my place, safe location and never too much crowded.

One of the nicest parks in the city of Halifax.

It is dedicated to the Halifax Explosion in WWI 1917. The bells in the exhibition are rung each year in respect of those lost in the explosion.

It has information on the vessels involved with the Explosion. Placed along the pathway through the park.

There are nice benches where one can sit and ponder on the peace and values that we are aloud to live in our times.

Our parents, grandparents and grea grandparents went to participate in various wars so our children can live their lives in peace.

We thank them for their beliefs to create a world of freedom for all.

Very nice park setting. Well taken care off and of course the memorial which is a sad reminder of what happened in the city on December 6th of 1917.

The defining moment when the Imo collided with the Mount Blanc depicted in wood and steel atop Needham Hill. We'll done Halifax.
24 November 2021 18:58
Really great playground on the south end of the park. Some sweet patches of evergreen forest on the north-facing slope.
03 September 2021 15:25
A wonderful place for children and their families to get together. Awesome playground - made all from lumber. Something for all ages!

Only downside is: no bathroom

And the nearest bathroom I know of is a 10 minute walk away- even longer when you have littles walking!

Otherwise a great park

Excellent playground -if it's a sunny day make sure to bring hats as there isn't a lot of shade. If you walk towards the large cement/bell installation opposite the playground there are 2 very old trees that are amazing to climb,

A great place for the dogs or kids or a picnic or throw a ball or frisbee or drone or tai chi or music festival or skateboard or climb a tree!

Great Kids play area and lots of interestingly displayed historical information about the Halifax explosion.

I've only been to this park twice, but I'd like to go more often. The landscape is different; Higher Ground. The park looks over the northern most area of the Halifax Harbour and its components are literally made up of relics from the Halifax Explosion. As you walk down the path that lines the field and the all wooden playground - your peripherals are sobered by the surrounding centuries-old Steel that lines your walkway. See dates, names, and ship memorials as you round the north turn. Fort Needham is a beautiful gem hidden in the North End of Halifax. Go enjoy it for yourself!

Best sledding for younger kids in the North End! Safe, just steep enough and great views of the city.
06 April 2020 19:36
A lovely spot to bring your pup for some play! Beautiful sunsets and generally some other dogs around to play with.

This park is up on the hill with a nice view of the north end of Halifax Harbour. There is a children's playground, a dog area, and some playing fields, but the unexpected part for me is the carillon honouring the Halifax Explosion. A very appropriate tribute, considering that the area the park is in was pretty much flattened by the explosion.

Nice park to let the dog off the leash. Can be quite busy at peak hours (430-630pm). Decent views of harbour and Bedford basin. Plenty of parking.

We did not realize how lovely this park and memorial to the Halifax explosion was until today. More than just the big monument with bells. Many historical facts throughout. And a fantastic kids playground.

This place is beautiful. Large playground, great space for families and their dogs. I love that there is a large section just for unleash dogs. I love the writings on the metal along the walking trail that is paved. It also has handicap accessible parking. Very lovely and I hear it's a great place to go and watch fireworks

Recently upgraded park. The landscaping has been improved to tell the story of the Halifax explosion. Steel retaining walls are engraved with statistics about the people and ships involved in the disaster. Accessable parking can be found at the south end of the park near the new wooden playground. A large field is available at the top of the hill that is popular with dog owners.

Beautiful park, great memorials scattered throughout the park with powerful words. Love the bells ringing on the hour!
30 September 2019 16:43
Recently revived. Nice walking path and a nice play area for kids. Landscaping around monument was all redone in 2017.

This outdoor playground has a very unique look to it. It's toddler and child friendly, I recommended it.
18 September 2019 19:06
It's a beautiful, relaxing place if you want to get away, but still be apart of something important.
18 August 2019 17:52
The park has had a major overhaul in 2017 for the 100th anniversary of the explosion. The space and the playground are awesome.
18 August 2019 0:23
Am yet to fully explore the entirety of the park, but so far it's lovely. For my sporty friends, there is a great set of stairs here which are perfect for step running (it's shaded too so big bonus). The bells are lovely and the gardens are super well kept. There's a nice play park for families and lots of dogs on walks:)
26 July 2019 22:48
Great view, awesome play structure, big sports field, with added feel of a museum thanks for to the Halifax Explosion monuments
21 July 2019 21:42
They put in a new playground that is made of old looking wood. The children loved it! Encouraged use of full body movements, imaginative play and use of risk management techniques to climb.
18 July 2019 23:01
It's really good place for the people who love to sit alone with the fresh air and a green environment but you might get to see a lot of dogs.
18 July 2019 20:08
Great park with two different types of scenery. An open field with old buildings and cannons. The other is a set of paths in the woods leading down to the water.
13 July 2019 22:07
Lots of pokestops and spawns. Bananas spawns on Community Days. Really nice trail and cute playground. The offleash dogs are a little out of control tho, they should have a fenced in area.
02 July 2019 17:22
Nice for what it is. A urban park tucked, like many of Halifax's parks, inside a residential area of the city. There is well maintained stairs and paths as well as nice plaques and monuments referencing the Halifax explosion.

There is a dig friendly "off leash" zone that is a nice touch for dog owners. A small play ground that i didn't use but looked serviceable.

It's not local to me so i dont know how often i would return with so many other parks to explore but it was nice to visit.

Good location to take your dog to off lease area. Newly paved sidewalk. A little wet/ messy in the spring.
