Gahan House Nova Centre

I’ve been here several times. Staff are all very young and seem to be un-attentive to the point where you have to wave them to get service. Several just sitting on their phone and chatting with people. Beer is well made, nothing experimental, mostly safe and traditional styles. Food is good but kitchen is slow.

Overall an an average brew pub. I would keep coming back.

Update: went back again and same issues. This time my food was soggy. No soap in the bathroom. I asked them to refill it and it wasnt done. I basically had to eat my food without washing my hands. And left without my hands washed.

Won’t be going back.

Excellent service, good beers and the food is amazing. Seafood cowder, chicken curry and pretzel with beer dip were 10/10.

Food was fabulous. Server was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was quiet, it was early afternoon.

Breakfast doesn’t seem to be as popular in Halifax as it is in the states so we tried most of the breakfast options over a week visit. This one was simple and good diner fair.

Live music, kids menu, variety of beers on tap made in-house, and some solid and tasty food

Entrée was over cooked. With all the choices downtown I won't be choosing this location to eat again. Service was good though and location band atmosphere are excellent. Shame about the meal.

What’s not to like? Friendly service in a great central location and a varied menu with something for everyone. And of course a great local craft beer selection on tap.

A few weeks ago, I went to Gahan House for a drag show and supper. I had the ring bear burger and it was delicious! Today, I went back for their brunch and it was just ok. I had the chicken and waffles; it was good but nothing special. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant.

Visited once, 8/2021. Atmosphete is trendy and modern, yet slightly rustic, almost hipster in a way. Great for night time casual outings. Staff were all nice but service was not the quickest, yet not slow by any means although some orders seemed like they could've came out sooner. Everyrhing seemed clean. Food options were pretty decent and taste was definitely satisfactory but nothing out of this world. Ordered the poutine (okay value, decent taste), pretzel bites (eh value, decent taste but I expected better), and fried calamari with aioli dip (good taste although I'm not a huge fan of calamari, and decent value). There were some menu items that seemed interesting enough to come back again. Overall pricing though was decent.

Went on a weeknight with a group of 4. Food itself was great but service was slow and the live music was painfully loud. Even seated the furthest away possible from the band had us yelling at each other to be heard. Wouldn’t recommend for that reason

Went for brunch with another couple. Prompt service! However two of our orders (same dish) had French toast that was horribly undercooked so much that egg whites were swirling around on their plates. Told waitress.no compensation offered, only a half hearted apology. Our other dishes were delicious however.

Inviting and spacious with an excellent selection of beer. I especially like the 1772 IPA. Had the beef melt with lobster mac and cheese and it was a solid 10. Highly recommended!

A great atmosphere, the food is pretty good and the service has always been good. The beers they have are great, a great selection, especially the raspberry sour. The menu wasn’t exactly my style of food, but everything was delicious I had, and would definitely be back.

Upon arrival was greeted by the hostess to which we thought was having a bad day. She was cold and unwelcoming almost to the point of rude. But once seated the server went above and beyond and made our visit a excellent visit. Food was a excellent variation, flights are always a good choice and crowd pleaser. The GM also stopped by to make our visit was a pleasant and enjoyable one.

The beer was amazing, and the food was incredible. My friends and I ordered Nachos, Mac and cheese, burrito bowl, and beef melt, all were perfect, I highly recommend this place. It is a bit pricey though, but the food and beer are definitely worth the price.

One of the best go to places, amazing service and large menu with both veg and non veg options. Also if you are into mock tails you need to try Gahan House.

I've been frequenting the Gahan House since it's opening. The service has always been incredible, fast, and friendly. The menu is dynamic, and a fun take on east coast upscale pub food. They have their own beer on tap, everything from a light lager to a rich porter. I always recommend the Gahan House to friends visiting from out of Halifax. Great spot, always worth it!

Great service and wonderful food. Braised brisket and arctic char were outstanding. Ginger cake and poached pears were definitely worth trying - wonderful and light.

It was ok. Like exactly what I expected. I wasn't amazed. The food was ok not exceptional. The chowder on the other hand wasn't great. I have no complaints. It was just fine. No high expectations.

The cocktails were good, the food was not. All the food sounded amazing on the menu, but the falafel burger and chicken tacos were both really bland.even the rice was bad.

Loved the relaxed atmosphere and no rush feeling. Good conversation environment. Staff were courteous and friendly great memory.

So good! Drinks + Food are delicious, definitely try the homemade root"beer"! The Nashville hot chicken skewers are excellent, and so is the cajun creme pasta. Looking forward to trying for meals

Food was good, service was great but it took over an hour for a brunch plate to be served. Kind of soured our first experience.

Our group of 10 went here last night for supper. Although I must admit I was a little sceptical at first with their limited menu it turned out great for all of us. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was great. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. Appetizers were excellent as well.

Soooo delicious! I had the haddock tacos & their seasonal dessert. Both were AMAZING. Great service too!

If you get a chance to try their banana bread dessert, do not pass it up.

Tried 4 dishes. All were good. The calamari was especially good and I probably had calamari at 20+ restaurants in the past 3 years in Nova Scotia

Our first experience at the new Gahan House Nova Center was incredibly positive. The new location is beautiful and the atmosphere was great. Our server was friendly and attentive and the service was prompt.
All of our dishes were amazing. We started with the Nashville chicken skewers and the mussels in the colliding tides & cream sauce (which was INCREDIBLE).
For entrees we had the pot roast & fries and the fried chicken sandwich. Absolutely everything was amazing. We couldn't believe how good everything was.
It was a fantastic first experience here and I can't wait to come back for more!

The Gahan house in Halifax is not following Covid-19 protocols. They are allowing more than the 10 person bubble to mingle. Public health needs to shut them down, before more Covid 19 cases arise!

Never been to the old location in the waterfront, and it was my first time here in this new location. Me and my bf got pan fried haddock and fried chicken burger (I got their fries instead of the rice). The food was tasty, we both really enjoyed it. The atmosphere and decor are super nice and warm, also love how their patio looks like (it’s closed now in the fall but every time when I passed through in the summer, it always seems so nice)

-1 star for their server, the service went super poorly and slow. The server barely checked our table and everything took forever to arrive. Also I saw one of their servers didn’t wear the mask correctly, when she talked to the other server she took her mask off.

I’ll still go back sometimes, their food was super good.
