On holiday from Ireland. Our tour guide Cecile was very engaging and the Restaurant staff were very friendly when we popped in for Coffee

Beautiful location, beautiful inn, wonderful service. We spent a lovely night at the Inn. They thought of everything in our room. Two luggage racks, two chairs, comfy bed, coffee, fridge, patio etc. We had a delicious meal in the pub and enjoyed the live music. A must for any trip to Cape Breton.

We stayed here as part of our trip to Cabot Cliffs and enjoyed a nice dinner and overnite stay, we purchased a beautiful bottle of whisley, some cigars and a few other things. When we were leaving we collected these items and included some gifts I bought for my kids at Peggys Cove, sadly we left the gift bag in the hotel room as we rushed to our tee time at Cabot LInks. We realized we left the gifts behind but were confident the hotel would hold them until after our round. Sadly the bag with the gifts was missing and the staff seemed more focused on telling us it wasnt there fault. We are not in the habit of stealing or lying about such thihngs and were packed and know for an absolute fact we left that bag in the room. Som eof the staff said they looked int he garbage, but that wouldnt make sense as no one puts a heavy bottle of Scotch in the garbage. The perosn who called us back gave us a bit of attitude saying we must have lost it and I was like seriously we are frequent travellers to nice destinations and if we are telling you it was left there it must have been stolen by housekeeping staff, I know it is good to defend your people, but there has to be an explanation when the stuff is missing and we are ten minutes away at the golf course and it is not in our car, Anyhow, I didnt find the service was caring and I am left sad that I lost my kids presents amd the scotch which we bought 20 minutes before checking out. I thought for a premium establishment they would have at least been sympathetic and a top service professional would have replaced something we had just purchased as the stuff was stolen. Beautiful property and I would like to support the cause, but left with a poor taste in my mouth form the experience, plus, i would want to know they figured out who took the stuff before I felt comfortable stayign there again. Loved our stay at Glenora Inn & Distillery. Had dinner at their restaurant which was fantastic and included live music. I did find the whiskey's a little too high in price range for me but I am sure others wouldnt think the same. That being said I still bought a couple of bottles to bring home.

As a whisky fan, I was perhaps influenced by the opportunity to spend a couple nights at a unique distillery on a beautiful site. Unfortunately the beauty of the surrounding Cape Breton area didn’t offset the disappointment with the accommodation. We had an “executive king” in the Glenview, which offered a beautiful view and very generous square footage, but lacked in some basic appointments: no towel racks in bathroom and no table to eat the modest continental breakfast of yogurt, granola, cheese, apple and juice (first day we weren’t provided cutlery or napkins). The mattress of the bed was terrible and offered no support (be careful if you turn in your sleep or you might roll off the bed). Not that we watch a lot of television when on vacation, but there was no reception on the first night, so it felt like we were in an expensive campsite.
The dining service was a much more positive experience: great menu, attentive staff, plus access to the delicious Glenora liquids. Live entertainment provided a pleasant backdrop.
Our second day included a troubling discovery: housekeeping staff had left the patio door to our room unlocked and open. Thankfully our belongings were still there, but our personal security was shaken.
We enjoyed the distillery tour, shout out to Cecil. Our experience was perhaps more positive due to just 4 people in the group. Suggest that Glenora consider limiting size of the tour groups to permit more engaging and intimate conversation.
Overall, I’d recommend Glenora for the dining and bar menu, but can’t endorse the accommodation. At $330 per night, it didn’t meet expectations.

Paid for the "normal" tour, which was posted as being 30 minutes, we were told 20 minutes after we paid, and after 11 minutes it was up and we were told to see ourselves back to where we started. When we told our "host" it seemed like a pretty thin tour he said it was because there were 30 people and somehow that made it hard. Nonsense, the tour was a joke and had nearly zero content. If it had been free perhaps it would be acceptable but not paid. Give the place a miss and go somewhere that will appreciate you.

Loved the music and the space for dancing!
Very friendly crowd.
A little mixup on the drink order, but tasty after dinner drink. Lovely atmosphere!

There is barely any data in this area and Wifi was not offered. Glasses in the rooms were plastic. The food is okay, servers were great and live music is a nice touch. There is not much to do around the property, it was a bit disappointing for the price of one evening.

We just visited the distillery, it was a nice scenic place to stop. Some of their whiskey is really good also.

We visit Cape Breton every year and eating at the pub in Glenora is always a must on our trip. Food is always great - no matter what you get and service is friendly. On this trip we also did a tour of the distillery which is only 30 mins and very interesting. We did not stay at the inn but I gave it 5 stars just for the view and location.

We are touring Cape Breton, driving along the Cabot Trail. We stayed one night at Glendora Inn & Distillery. The property is beautiful. The rooms spacious, comfortable and clean. Bed comfy and nice shower. We had a cocktail and ate a delicious meal in the pub where live music was happening. Our server, Debra, was impressive. Her knowledge of the distillery was great. If there was something she wasn’t sure of the answer, Debra went and sourced the correct answer. Then we met Donny, the manager. He was a great source of knowledge too. Very social with his guests, and a generous gracious host. YOU MUST SPEND A NIGHT HERE!

Thanks for the memories!

Stopped just to pick up a local ice wine barrel aged scotch. We did a tour 7 years ago that was very informative and recommend it. Beautiful well kept grounds.

Update: Customer Service issue addressed by the owners below in reply so I have deleted the comments. Changed rating from 3 to 4 stars

Lovely distillery and restaurant. We got there too late for the tour but went to the pub and did the flight. You get 5 different half ounce pours for $35 ranging from basically moonshine to 19 great old cask work oat cookies and water to dilute. I personally prefer Irish whiskey but enjoy the Scottish style whiskey. Lovely location, great food, great whiskey and child friendly. Worth a stop

Did the tour which was very fun. Enjoyed lunch with a flight of whisky. Calamari appetizer was great. My wife had fish and chips which was excellent. The ribs had the best sauce I ever had. Couldn’t convince them to give me the recipe. Jordan offered us excellent service.

My family and I went for a birthday dinner. I hate giving a negative review for a local place, but, unfortunately, I have to.
The service was terrible. Very unprofessional. Slow. She gave us the excuse she was busy with other tables.
Then, the food was disappointing. My fish cakes were tasteless. No salt!
And, when I asked the waitress to share my feedback with the kitchen she told me she was really surprised because no one else had complained about the food before. She basically argued with me, instead of accepting my feedback and passing it along.

My 7 yr old was done eating, but my 5 year old was in the middle of eating her tasteless pasta (my 5yr olds words) when the server abruptly brought them their ice cream dessert (it came with the kids meal).
We were all shaking our heads about the weird service when My 7 yr old said “ usually the waitress says, are you ready for dessert? ”
I asked her to please take it away and bring it when she’s done eating.
She finished eating and waited and waited and waited. To the point I called the manager and said the waitress hasn’t been back in a very long time…… I’m talking like 20 mins of my daughter saying “where is she? I want my ice cream now mama”.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. And, more disappointed to have to say it about a local place and local people.
The prices are high. It’s considered fine dining. But, it did Not live up to those standards tonight.

Fantastic food, amazing service and staff and the spirits are legendary! My crew and I had the pleasure of staying with Glenora while filming in the Cape Breton area and we were blown away!

Cannot recommend Glenora enough! A MUST SEE destination in Nova Scotia!
