Gypsum Mine Lake

We camped here with our tent and used the very nice wooden washrooms inside. Our host, Kevin, was very friendly and helpful, we had a very nice chat over some coffee with good recommendations for the surrounding area. Even outside in the tent we had very good wifi reception. I highly recommend this place!

A gem of a swimming hole! Easy hike in with one gradual incline along a gravel road, gorgeous green hued lake surrounded by cliffs of gypsum - warm water and some benches to sit on and reflect on this beauty of a spot!

Love this spot for swimming and pictures! It's a relatively easy hike in (just one hill) to climb. Fresh water that isn't nearly as cold as the Atlantic. There are a few benches around, and a few places to get in and out of the water. Usually busy, but not overflowing.

Quick walk and a short trail to reach, nice lake to visit with your family or friends for a beautiful fall colors

If you are interested in a short walk and a fantastic view, this is the perfect place. You can swim in summer and as an extra bonus in autumn you will get some beautiful photos.

Great lake with beautiful colors. Easy hike. Water a bit cold in the fall definitely will go in the summer to take a swim. Worth it.

What a unique experience! A great mix of history and beautiful views. Hike in (only about 15min.) easy to get to and well marked. Amazing views and trails. A must do along the trail!

Really cool spot to cliff jump or just swim. It’s a bit of a hike but totally worth it. Visiting in the evening when everyone had cleared out was surreal.

My favorite hiking route on the island. The lake by the end is quite rewarding like a hidden gem. It reminded me those lakes in Banff park, the color and everything - peaceful and joyful.

Short hike but very magical, if you have the guts and fitness and are not scared of heights then definitely make your way in top of the hill the you get see it even better!

Nice walk in about 10 minutes small hill, a nice large mine with a deep pond to swim in, qn some ares to climb around

Great swimming hole after a bit of a walk-in. Loved it! Water was clean and refreshing and the scenery was beautiful.

Beautiful spot, you can actually go up a hill on a rope and take a panoramic picture of the lake from above. The water is green and shiny, it's a little cold so it's ideal for a hot weather. There is an abrupt change in depth and it's so deep you can't see anything but a floatie is a nice addition when you go there.

Small 15 min hike from the Rd. Best place to go for a swim. Noone there in early morning wear water shoes

Beautiful area, amazing view, easy to get to.

Went in late April, path was wet but traversable without soaking our feet.

Some litter and make shift fire pits along the way.

My favourite lake in cabot trail. The hike is really short and you can kinda climb the rocks and get to the top to see it from above. Here are some photos for you!
