Staff was friendly, however this was the loudest campground I have ever stayed in. Loud music from numerous sites after 11pm and highway noise all night long. One night a bunch of drunk teenagers almost fell into our tent! Campers were all friendly as well, far more than any other sites we've stayed at. We enjoyed the pancake house, ice cream shop, pool, bike rentals and kids activities of art and bingo. There is only one spot to wash dishes, not very convenient at all for tenters.

I've been staying here for a while now, and they have been fantastic, they have been very accommodating and have helped with and opportunities that may have arisen during the stay. Lots of activities and things to do around the camp, and generally a very friendly environment throughout the area.
All amenities that are not provided on site are located within 15 mins, which is a huge bonus.

I am a frequent camper and have travelled all over Canada! Originally from BC this campground was magnificent, and throughly enjoyed my experience would highly recommend!

We loved our visit to W Halifax KOA. The bathrooms were a little too buggy for us (they need doors that swing closed - they are always open at night with the lights left on) and we could never find the dog park, unless it was a tiny overgrown small rectangular dog run, but there were plenty of interesting places to walk the pup. There were some mosquitoes but not terrible. We were in THE best site C8. It had access from the back to fish with a great fire pit behind the RV in a woody spot. Very small pool, jump pillow and playground.

This is one of the best experiences I have had in any campground I've stayed! My family and I have been camping here for the past 4 summers and not once have we had any issues and the service is always terrific. Joe; thank you very much, you and your staff are fantastic. You always go over and above to ensure everyone not only has a plesant stay but you definitely know how to make people smile.
They are extremely friendly and welcoming.
I highly recommend KOA Sackville to anyone looking to enjoy a wonderful camping experience.
Thank you KOA. I look forward to seeing you again in a couple weeks.

Campsite was muddy, no privacy from other sites (no bushes or trees on one side), and extremely noisy (the highway is very loud all night long). I suppose I am used to a more wilderness type of camping and this was like apartment living. Not a redo for me.
11 August 2023 18:43
Kid friendly+. Lots of events for Canada Day.
Super fireworks display.
The noise curfew not enforced- basketball being played at 3 am.
Rained + while we were there which resulted in a very wet site. Thank goodness we had rubber boots!
10 August 2023 10:18
Beautiful campground with friendly, helpful staff. We booked for two nights then decided to book a third night because we loved it so much. The pancakes every morning were absolutely delicious and made to order. The pool was very clean and well maintained. The laundry facilities were reasonably priced and worked great. The on site store had absolutely everything you need and more. We were sad leaving and already planning our next visit. The only thing we have to change is to book a much longer stay.

Bon camping. Un peu loin de Halifax pour quand on veut visiter la ville. Mais on a pris un taxis. La course aller d'environ 60.00 avant pourboire. Pareille au retour.
Le camping Dans la ville était plein.
Ça été une bonne alternative.
06 October 2022 20:21
What a shame. Just to get money they booked us. And tell u to tent on rocks. Kids are crying. We were never expecting this. Greedness at its peak. Don't trust
01 October 2022 12:10
Love the little cabins. It has a double bed and bunkbed. A propane barbecue on the deck. Also a swing on the deck which I really enjoyed. They have a pool. There's kayaks to rent. The rive is right there in the campgrounds. Showers, laundry facilities and fire wood. All for a fantastic price. This is definitely a great place for families.
15 September 2022 21:21
Nice place very clean, super friendly nice people!
If I come back to Halifax another time definitely I stay in this place!
03 September 2022 23:46
Installations désuètes. Terrains trop petits. La sortie d’eau n’est pas au même endroit que la sortie électrique. Besoin d’une rallonge de boyaux d’eau pour rejoindre ma roulotte! On entend les véhicules qui circule sur l’autoroute. Pas digne d’un KOA.
22 August 2022 11:46
First time here and it won't be the last. Lots of stuff for children to do.great camping experience. We try to camp here once a weekend of every camping month
04 August 2022 9:50
This is a wonderful place to stay and has the benefit of being close to Halifax and wine country. Good for children, adults and people with pets. The pool is well maintained and the facilities are clean. You can choose a site with a water view or nestle in the trees. At night

My husband and I were really looking forward to staying at Halifax, NS Canada KOA, we actually look forward to staying at any new KOA’s we’ve never visited before. We were extremely disappointed with Halifax KOA and how the campsites and amenities were not maintained.

The grass at our campsite wasn’t mowed and we couldn’t sit around the campfire because there were tons of dandelions and long grass. The staff mowed some of grass at other campsites but never came by to offer to mow ours. The laundry facilities were dirty and untidy and laundry machines smelled like mildew…we’ve been to a few KOAs across Canada and have never experienced dirty and untidy facilities.

Definitely will not be heading back to Halifax KOA.

We didn't stay here but we visited friends who were RVing here.it is a fabulous spot. So much larger than you can tell from the road. There is a lake for fishing, boating and swimming. Lots of play areas for children and entertainment for adults too. Laundry and store too.
23 June 2022 5:19
This was our 5th campground on our road trip to Newfoundland. This was by far the most fun and lively place we had stayed. They were able to accommodate our last minute reservation and we loved the site that we were parked at. The staff were very friendly and were able to help us with anything we asked. I would definitely recommend this campground to anyone looking to have a fun, exciting weekend!
10 June 2022 1:15
As always, my go to camp site when visiting Halifax. It’s a ways away from Halifax, but the friendliness that comes from the staff, makes it worth it. The pool is COLDER then Antarctica, but that’s not the fault of the staff. I wish the pool would be heated, but that’s minor. The boat rentals are so much fun. I enjoy being able to go down to the lake and have a paddle down it. I would like to suggest one thing to add to the lake would be double paddle boats. Next year, we may not visit Halifax, due to us possibly visiting the islands around the maritimes instead, but we will always keep this place in mind.
28 December 2021 13:55
It's ok. Not a whole lot for views and it's right off a busy road but it's neatly kept and they came a big play area for kids. Also pet friendly and they have an inclosed fenced in dog area.
21 December 2021 23:38
Great campground that’s very well maintained. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.
10 December 2021 19:43
You couldn’t find a friendlier place, or a better group of service providers like Joe and the crew (Family). Have been come here for years, and will continue to do so. Great times at KOA Halifax West. Thanks Joe.
26 October 2021 21:32
Great amenities! Kids (especially on the weekends) can be a little rambunctious, but the convenience of being close to Halifax far out-weighs a little 'excitement'.
26 October 2021 10:10
This is such a beautiful campground; one of the nicest we’ve stayed at! We loved the natural landscape, with treed-in sites and cabins, nestled along serene wetlands, where you can rent canoes/kayaks. This was also a very quiet and respectful campground, with a playground, bouncy pillow and pool for the kids to enjoy. Great experience at KOA Halifax!
22 October 2021 1:03
Great staff and activities for the kids. Tent sites are on top of each other. Gets expensive if you utilize the activities often.
20 October 2021 21:12
We were denied entry into Canada. I canceled reservation, and we were still charged for one night.
11 October 2021 4:40
Really enjoy our stay we rented a deluxe cabin the staff was amazing and very friendly we had one young man who was always there to help named Harrison he Catered to our every need dropping fire wood off to even taking us for a joy ride in his little buggie thing.lol
We cant wait to go again so much to do for the kids we loved the fact that our kids were free and safe to enjoy the activities while the grown ups enjoy there time.
25 September 2021 19:19
This was our first time at a campground with our 2 year old. On our first night (of 4) she had a horrible time sleeping so we ended up taking her home at 2 am.

After realizing something was wrong, we came back the next day to pack up our site. When I notified the office that we’d be leaving 3 days early, they were quick to refund us for the remaining 3 nights.

We will absolutely be going back and will recommend them to anyone who asks.
21 September 2021 0:37
This is the best campground that I have ever been to. The staff is so friendly and so very helpful, they even answered the phone late at night just to bring us some extra fire wood. Very appreciative of how they make sure you feel at home. Anyone looking for a beautiful campground with outstanding scenery, this is the absolute best place to go!
10 September 2021 0:54
We really enjoyed staying in the cabin. The kids loved this campground above all the others we have stayed at. Great staff and fun for all.
08 September 2021 16:59
This place is great for family and kids. Not too far from town with plenty to do. I would recommend.
The garden surrounding the pool.
04 September 2021 19:53
What a great campground, perfect location, right off the highway for day excusions. Owners very nice, very accomodating, allowed to move
Sites.we had trouble with our RV, he sent his maintenance man over and he trouble shooted and fixed our problem.saved us a RV repair shop bill for sure. Very clean and great activities for kids.movies, ice cream.etc.
02 September 2021 13:13
We've cmaped here twice and we are here for our 3rd year now. I love this place. Very friendly, nice lots and store serves its purpose. Swimming and play area for younger children. Pancake breakfast is wonderful.
02 August 2021 21:14
Great campground for families and kids! Lots for the kids to do, bike rentals, canoes, giant bounce pillow thing, ice cream shop and movie nights. NICE CLEAN POOL.
Close to amenities. They will shut down noisey campers after a certain time & bathrooms are clean for the most part. Open and wooded sites available, although we found some RV sites were small, should be kept for tents only. But every one is different.
11 January 2021 6:57
Campground is near the highway. Other campers were playing loud music not at their site. We packed up and left and went to a hotel. Not what I expect from a $45 campsite in the off season.
18 November 2020 23:57
Great little campground. Decent amenities. Shaded tent campsites. Great for kids, playground is tops.
14 November 2020 21:33
I have spent many a week/weekend here. It is amazing. I have camped in lots of campgrounds.and lots of KOA campgrounds. Lots of wonderful places. But this place is really special! The owners are so awesome and thoughtful and kind. It feels like a family and it translates to how the guests treat each other. Firepits are great ways to make new friends as everyone is so happy. The playground is awesome. There is a big trampoline and even as an adult I use it! The amenities are awesome! They have been handling covid beautifully and I feel so safe. There are so many different sites, all beautiful! And on top of that, you can store your camper here in the winter! I love this place!
27 October 2020 17:42
Took us in well after office closed on a Saturday evening on labour day weekend. Was nice all weekend

For a Canadian returning home to NS to live - I was astonished by the refusal of campground after campground - primarily in the Annapolis Valley area, to let us quarantine in our fully self contained motor home. We were looking to live in the valley area but no one would allow us in. I called the Halifax West KOA - explained our issue and our plans for fully self contained quarantine. They not only said - come - they put us in an area where we had full hook ups, a decent sized lot (as we could not leave our site for 14 days), we were isolated from others, they picked up our garbage and even checked on us to see if we needed anything. Once we were out of quarantine, we found a home (in the Valley) within two days but we decided to remain at this KOA until the closing because of the great way this campground is run. Once we got out of quarantine - we could explore the well kept campground and really get to know the owners. They are great people who offer lots of activities for families and even old folks like us. They offer a great camping experience and go out of their way to make your camping experience the best it can be. This camp ground is close to the Halifax area, the valley and so much of Nova Scotia. Several campers have arrived since we have been here with the same story - no campground would allow them to quarantine but Halifax West KOA not only does - they do it in a way that is safe for everyone. The entire team is so friendly and helpful. When we hit the road again to go camping - we will be back - for the people and the great facilities.

Best service I've ever had at the campground! Perfect spot for the family weekend. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends
15 October 2020 17:36
This can be a party campground at timrs. The quite times are not enforced by staff. During the days lots of kids and families. Everything is clean and maintained. Good luck sleeping at night.

Amazing owners/operators. Clean sites, great for kids - cabins and option and fyn to be had and memories to be made here!

To the KOA crew in Upper Sackville.un gros merci.a big thank you! We are just back from spending four nights in this little piece of paradise. Two adults, four kids, one tent trailer, and fantastic facilities. Well maintained, clean, fun activities, great physical camp site (FYI #40). But most of all, grateful to Joe and his fine team. Until next time. Craig and family of Moncton.

First time here and it won't be the last. Lots of stuff for children to do.great camping experience
03 August 2020 13:29
During these trying times, the staff here are making the best with what they have to work with. Respecting social distancing, but trying go create a "normal" camping experience, is a task unto itself, but I think they are doing an exceptional job. Glad we chose to come here after the easing up of the Covid stressaholic.

Love camping here or "glamping" if you prefer a cabin or a cottage here. Book in advance as this place is popular for the area. It's situated near the Irving off Exit 3 in Mount Unicake area and is tucked away where you have the privacy of nature but the convenience of being close enough to the city, hospitals, groceries and gas. I love staying in the little cabins here. They are equipped with a little mini fridge and bunk beds that sleep up to 6. They have a bbq and fire pit and picnic table for eating at. They have a small pool which is usually full all day long in the hot summer heat but kids love it! They have an arcade and a canteen where you can purchase treats and firewood. The arwa is clean and well maintained. The cabins are always spotless and the mattresses are comfy. You have to bring you own towels and sheets, pillows, blankets and other amenities but they have power in them so you can charge your phones, tablets, etc. The campground is situated on a giant loop and theres tons of spaces for tents. I reccomend this place for a comfy experience with lots of kids and friendly helpful staff.

Had a freaking blast here while renting a trailer. It rained and we still had fun. Can't wait to go back. Only 4 stars cause I was told a TV was included but it wasn't in the trailer when I got there. BUT. They showed up the next day with one. That was awesome on their part. Also, the trailer on the site said a 3 bedroom, when really it was a 2 bedroom but the 2nd bedroom was all in one. Not the layout that I paid for. But, the did make up for it with how extremely accommodating they were. Look forward to our next visit out there:)

Surprisingly nice campground, decent spot room, lot of trees, little lovely creek behind some spots. Great playground with inflatable trampoline. Kids liked it a lot.
24 October 2019 9:00
Great campground with great views. Washrooms were spotless. We did accidentally lock ourselves out of our cabin, but we were able to get help within 10 minutes. I would recommend this to anyone.
03 October 2019 7:39
On the weekend this park is definitely a park for a getaway for families with young children. There were a couple of quiet corners for other groups. Facilities were nice and management was amenable. Weekdays were laid back.
28 September 2019 10:35
Motto here is pack em in with spaces very close. This campground is the busiest place I have ever stayed from coast to coast. Also quite noisy even well after the 10 pm quiet time. Not for those wanting to commune with nature.
07 September 2019 7:20
We stayed one night during our Atlantic canada road trip. Good place to stay short period. They have canoe and kayaks for rental. Small swimming pool and play area. Kids enjoyed it.

Service is good and they service pancakes etc for breakfast for nominal fee. Check with the counter for breakfast times etc.

If you are looking for hiking, water front activities etc this is not the place. But if you looking for relaxed accommodations, yes.
03 September 2019 5:19
My family and I were not impressed by Halifax West KOA. There's a level of service we have come to expect when staying at a KOA and this one is lacking. The water pressure was hit and miss to the point we had NO water at one point. When we spoke with staff we were given what felt like a "fluff off" response about their water pump needing to be re-set and that several campers were going to be checking out that day so lots of water was being us. The response was basically you can just deal with it. It was the same response the next day when the water stopped flowing which forced us to use KOA facilities for showers and bathroom (note there were less campers). When we spoke with the campers in the site next us (long term site rental) he said it has been hit and miss since his arrival (over a month before) and the owners know about the issue and just don't seem to care. When you pay for a full hook-up site you expect there to be water.
We also weren't impressed by the overall layout of the sites.very cramped (more so then most KOAs).
The pool area was quite nice and the kids enjoyed the small playground and jumping pillow, did comment it was crowded.
We will not be returning Halifax West KOA on our next trip to Halifax to visit family and would not recommend this KOA.
25 August 2019 1:25
You can not beat the friendness staff ever. Always there for you. Very clean facilities and always well stocked. Well tree, if you are tenting you should bring ear plugs. (Hi-way noise). Thanks for the great time. Rick Stasiuk, Wetaskiwin Alberta Canada T9A 3R2
20 August 2019 19:25
I liked this campground but it was slightly disorganized. Staff initially put us on a site that was way too small for our large trailer. I was impressed that they rectified this with little issue and we got a decent sized site. I enjoyed the extra stuff for kids like pedal bikes, canoes and arcade.

My issues were that daily activities were poorly communicated to the campers. A white board is posted in the main office. It indicated a craft at 3-4pm. We showed up and it was not going on. Then it said that there was a wagon ride (on saturday in brackets). We were unable to attend. Then it went by on Sunday when we were available but it was only posted on sat. Frustrating! Then finally it said ice cream was open 6-8. For some reason when we went to get it at 725 it was closed and a sign was posted on the door 6-7pm.

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but I had two kids very disappointed on three separate occasions. They need to be more organized. I've done a lot of camping and this is always well communicated in several different areas for campers to be aware.
19 August 2019 6:20
Very noisy place.especially when 10pm is the curfew time.currently 11: 36pm and people 3 sites away are partying it up still.
07 August 2019 9:26
Absolute nightmare drove 7 hours to get here to find out someone else took our site and after sitting around for 2 hours waiting for them to try to figure out what to do they finally moved us to another site with no water hookup bathrooms were disgusting with urine all over the place and all they were willing to do for us is give us our money back if we wanted to leave
05 August 2019 22:06
It’s a OK campground if you are not going to be there most of the time, we were out during the day and came back in the late afternoon. It’s about a 25 minute drive to Halifax. Lots of highway noise, crowded. Fire pits are in weird areas and so close to a camper or your vehicle. Some sites are not very level.
It is a very compact campground with one road that loops around the campground in a circle (one-way). This was dangerous as the kids were on bikes and all over the road Not enough room for large 30 + motor homes to manoeuvre around the kids jumping / playground because of a large rock then picnic tables and bicycles left on the ground where the kids are playing.
July 1 long weekend, they had entertainment and fireworks & 50/50 draw but we were never told or informed when we checked in what was happening. It was a oh! Music.oh fireworks. Etc.
They have a dog park for dogs to do their business and have a walk, but people were not very courteous and walked thru campsites to get there. Wifi was important to us as we were away on travels for many months, it sucked. I would say non existent even after a lot of people left after the long weekend.
I will give a thumbs up to a young man who works there (curly shoulder length hair) he was mowing his little heart out and actually seemed like he cared about his job and helped people out.

Great place not too far from Halifax for some sight seeing. Very nice playground and pool for the kids. The sites are nice and ours was tree enclosed very cozy.
