We went here as a "second opinion" 3 years ago. Words cannot describe how happy we are that we came to this vet. Our previous vet had prescribed "end of life" medication for our dog without performing any tests for his condition. We trusted that vet and took their word for it that our dog only had months left to live. After seeking a second opinion from Dr. Will and he actually tested our dog for his condition, we found out that the medication was completely unnecessary and would have ended up doing more damage and ultimately would have killed our dog. Fast forward 3 years later we still have our dog, and he is as happy and healthy as he's ever been. We have since added another dog to our family and as long as we have dogs we will be taking them to the Hammond's Plains Vet!

To be honest it was a horrible experience there and for you to reach out to me. It made a huge difference. She was 27 years old and it was her time.

I found the vet and assistants very cold and very unfriendly. They had no compassion at all didn't even have a smile. It broke my heart that I had to go there that evening and then to have my cat experience this on her last day was very upsetting. The male veterinarian was beyond cold. He may have spoke 4 words to me. Did what he did and left. I couldn't believe a vet to be this cold and have completely no compassion. The vet was 24 hr Paws on Lady Hammond Rd

I’ve been taking my fur babies here since 18’? 19’ when our beloved cuddles passed, the compassion of dr will and other vets since that day I’ll never forget the first visit, how kind and wonderful they’ve always been to us and all of our beloved babies.all of the staff/ vets are so compassionate, kind and knowledgeable, and they truly do care about you’re pets well being, and go over and beyond for you’re beloved pets.

I called for an emergency appointment because something was very off about my dog. The reception staff squeezed me in to be seen within 2 hours. The reception staff was incredibly kind, and Doctor Will got right on the floor with me and my dog to go over what was wrong with her. Unfortunately her condition had a very grim outlook and euthanasia was the most humane thing to do in this case. Dr Will sat on the floor with us the whole time and gave her lots of love and pats while consoling me that this was the right thing to do.

When I got her remains back, they had picked a beautiful urn (I was too heartbroken in the moment to do so myself and asked them to pick something nice), and it also included a mould with her paw print and name on it. It was such a thoughtful touch and it really consumed my heart to know that she was so well cared for even after death.

Thank you very much to the staff and Dr Will for giving me some peace and calmness during this very difficult time of losing my best friend Coco.

These people are amazing, compassionate and very knowledgeable. We trust them with our dog and they have gone above and beyond for her when needed.

They have a clinic cat too, one of my favorite cats out there, very chill and accepts ear scritches willingly.

Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Doctors are excellent especially Dr. Emily for all your pets dental needs. Highly recommended

I was in need of a Vet to look at my fur baby's eye because our vet is not open on Sunday. I was looking on line and found Hammond's Plain Vet. Hospital was open on Sunday. I called, not really expecting to get an appt. But they gave me one for noon. The lady was so kind on the phone and when I arrived the girls at the desk were very sweet. Dr. William Hoskin was so friendly, knowledgeable and very gentle with our Tucker. The place was very clean and bright. I would highly recommend this hospital.

Our little girl just got spayed and they called several times to check in on her recovery. Previous vets have never seemed to be so supportive, nor as pro-active, in their clients care plans. I look forward to our relationship growing in the years to come.

You will see in the picture, our girl Winterfell, the cone is juuuuust big enough that she cannot lick anything but her tail tip. She was so happy when it came off today!

Just got my 8 months old cat, Lemy neutered.the service was very friendly and the attendant on the phone were very helpful and friendly and they were able to answer the phone whenever I called them.the surgical procedure was done very professionally and I would definitely recommend people who are looking for a reliable and trustworthy vet around in west bedford/hammonds plains area.

The best vet out there! My fur babies are in the best of hands when with them. Also, they are so kind and understanding.

Unfriendly staff at reception, the vet, Dr Kristin is extremely pushy, she has zero people skills, poor listener. Dr Kristin will try and push her own agenda without being able to do something as simple as decipher a basic X-ray. She is negligent and is mostly worried about how much the vet can make off of you. Do not bring your animals here, they’ll run up the bill on you and leave you in the lurch needing to find care elsewhere. The care here isn’t great anyway. Stay away if you cherish your pets.

It is without a doubt in my mind, that this is the kindest and most caring Veterinary Hospital that I have ever had the pleasure of being a client of. Being a past employee of this hospital I can also say that the administration staff, vet techs, doctors and managers are incredible people and it was a pleasure working there.

This year we sadly had to make the tough decision to say goodbye to our beloved family dog of 14 years. Maxx had been struggling with a few ailments and his old age was showing. Dr. Will Hoskin gave him excellent care and did all he could to prolong our dogs time with us but ultimately he declined quickly. A few weeks later Dr. Kristen Hill and our family made the decision it was time.

The compassion and care that was shown to our family in this hard time will never be forgotten. Thank you for being so kind and patient while we said our goodbyes, thank you to Sian who called to let me know our Maxx was ready to be brought home when his remains arrived back at the clinic and her kind words, and thank you for the messages, card and paw prints.

Wow what amazing, wonderful, carrying, knowledgeable, empathetic staff and Dr. I am very impressed with my visit with Kai today. From the phone calls to today's visit with Dr. Will. I love my fur baby Kai and Dr Will and the ladies made us feel less anxious. All I can say is they are truly wonderful and I am so grateful for them. Went through this vet as part of adopting my cat, they missed an undiagnosed lump the size of a dollar, pododermatitis in two paws, gingivitis.and last but not all.got the gender of the cat wrong.

Called back and mentioned the above issues and tried to get an appointment, but never heard back after sending multiple emails and calls.

Consider alternatives.

We have seen both Dr. Emily and Dr. Will and they have taken excellent care of our animals. Clinic staff are friendly and polite.

Dr Emily is great. We have a crazy dog and we know she is well taken care of when she is with Dr Emily.

Dr Will and Dr Emily have been absolutely amazing with our puppy Stanley. They are both very kind and knowledgeable. They call to check in on him. I also sent an email with pictures of his recent neuter incision and they responded immediately reassuring me that all looks well. It is always a pleasant experience with all staff! We definitely hit the jackpot finding this clinic for Stanley! We highly recommend Hammonds Plains Veterinary Hospital!

Such a refreshing change in the veterarian field in Halifax. Privately owned and operated location, that actually care about animals and not the bottom line. Hands down the best place to take your pet for any needs. Called us 5 times just to see how our pet was after surgery that another vet specialist performed! Just pure care for animals and we love it. Always friendly and willing to help!
Most other location have been bought out and operated via a large company so its all about the bottom line for them.

Dr. Will and his colleagues truly care about the care of your animal. Nothing but great things to say about this business.

I recommend Hammonds Plains Vet every chance I get. Dr. Emily always takes her time to explain everything to me - every visit is jam packed with information that is clearly explained and focused on helping me provide the best care possible to my pup. The team makes us feel like part of the family, and my puppy always leaves with a belly full of treats!

My cat Gunther has been a patient of Dr. Will's for his whole life and recently he had a urinary obstruction. I took him in as an emergency on Sunday and he had to stay 2 nights. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Will and the staff at HPVH for treating Gunther so quickly and effectively. I trust Dr. Will completely and couldn't ask for a better veterinarian. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a new vet. The total bill was also less than I was anticipating, so thankful for that as well.

Both Dr. Emily & Dr. Will are amazing vets. My dog has gone to see both on separate occasions and they treat us like family from the moment we walk in. The entire team are amazing and compassionate. Would recommend this clinic to anyone I know.

Great place. That Bobbi Mosher lady is very unwelcoming however. Not sure why she is hostile as soon as you walk in. Whatever problems you have dont take them to work. Your in customer service.

Our family had to take in our four legged family member in for a couple surgeries. Our expectations were exceeded. Stanley is doing great and back to his old self!

Absolutely, The Best! We had been to several other veterinary clinics and no one was able to help our dog, Tyson We were desperate by the time we found Dr. Will. His genuine love and compassion for animals was apparent. His medical knowledge and skills impressed us and he has continued to impress us with his straight forward honesty in dealing with Tyson's issues.

Our dog had a problem with her eye, it was a small puncture to the cornea, it didn't look good. After getting a firm recommendation to have the eye removed from another local vet we visited these guys for a second opinion. Will suggested we give a course of medicated drops and more time to heal. Within a couple of weeks the eye had improved significantly and it looks like she will keep it after all. Not to suggest these guys can work miracles, of course. The service was top notch and Will was patient with our old but still very hyper and jumpy boxer. I feel like my pets are in good hands here with people who prioritize health and integrity over profits.

The doctors here are amazing, we have no anxiety leaving our fur babies in their care. They truly care and they check up the next day even if they were in for something small. I feel so comfortable paying the extra buck to bring my dogs here because i know they will recieve quality care and beyond!

We changed to HPVH as soon as they opened. They're top notch people, accommodating, thorough and friendly! Highly recommend!
