Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Halifax - Dartmouth

Overall the hotel is good: the bed was comfortable and clean and the staff were professional. My biggest concern was the safety of the hotel pool slide. We chose the hotel for a staycation over Christmas, and it was very important for her to have a hotel with a pool and waterslide. The waterside is quite worn and therfore can be very slow because there is a lot of friction. The enamel (?) coating is peeling or crumbling off. We spent Christmas day in the ER after a peeling part of the slide lodged in my daughters toe behind her toenail: we weren't able to dig it out with the front desk first aid kit tweezers and had to go to the IWK hospital to get it done. She was very upset.

Welcome and checkout experience has been improved since the summer months. Rooms and hallways are clean but beginning to show age and need a little TLC. (Office chairs in room workstations are worn out, some painting touch ups needed and rugs showing age). Pillows are very small although you do get 4 per bed but really small pillows. Breakfast buffet was very good, clean and attendants visible cleaning and topping up items as needed. Over all property is well located in a great area for shopping, restaurants etc and close to everything in Halifax metro area.

Did a staycation here with my family a few months back, front counter staff were professional and courteous, rooms were nice and extremely clean and breakfast was great…nice and close to dodge out for a bit of shopping after getting takeout in one of many choices in Dartmouth crossing.

Just wish the rooms had a microwave in them. Also, the pool area could use better ventilation and the hot tub should have a user controlled jet/bubble timer.

We stayed there for 2 nights with our kids. The room was clean, and staff were polite. Reasonable size pool with slide, however water was a bit cold.nonetheless, kids had great fun. A very good breakfast. It is located next to the shopping area. Ample free parking and good price. I would certainly recommend and would stay there in future as well.

Comfortable stay! Breakfast was okay and included in the price. Our four year old had fun in the pool. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed.

Ok. Déjeuner inclus mais.très salé sinon yogourt ou céréale. Ok pour aller vite le matin en voyage d'affaire mais pas plus. Sinon aller ailleurs. Café = eau de vaiselle. Pas bon mais pas le choix le matin et ça c'est quand il y en a.

Front desk was super friendly. Rooms were very quiet and clean. Overall the hotel was superb. Loved tge location. Will be back!

The breakfast and water pressure was just about the only thing this hotel has going for it. There were stains on the couch and rug, the room smelled rusty and smug. The ac unit would run all day and then at night it felt like the Antarctica in the room. So much so, I was wearing track pants and socks to sleep. Let's not forget the smell in the halls, or the mold in the shower. The swimming area is not maintained and the water looked yellow. For the price of this stay I really expected more, especially after 3 years of not traveling. The hotel is however, in a great location.

This hotel is in desperate need of renovations and deep clean. The door to our room did not work properly which caused it to slam shut every time we used it. The bathtub had mould on the edges and the carpet is in desperate need of a rug scrub to take out the musty smell. The worst part was the bathroom ceiling that leaked water above our shower head! I’m thinking it is from someone taking a bath and draining the water causing it to leak through but not 100% sure. We also called housekeeping twice to ask for more towels and face cloths as well but they never showed up. This place is an absolute dive, we will not stay here again.

The stay at the hotel was first rate. The housekeeping was amazing. The room was beautiful. The pool was very enjoyable.

This property was amazing for my family trip! The waterslide and pool were a big hit. The hotel is surrounded with great shopping and food options. Breakfast tasted great. Staff are friendly.

Great location. Lots of shopping and restaurants around. Rooms were clean and so comfortable. Staff was accomodating.

We stayed here on our way to the southern part of province. Normally this chain has an impeccable standard. However this location allowed loud, vulgar, partying late into the night. Many things were damaged during the weekend. Hallway tv's, pictures etc. No staff were seen anywhere to stop it or attempt to fix. A tv outside the elevator was smashed and almost falling off the wall. It wasn't a great place for families. The food was bland and subpar as far as this chains other locations are concerned. Half the options, layout is poor, and not fit for the number of guests they can hold.

I was working nights and had asked for a late checkout so I could sleep from 6 until 1. At 9am, I was woken by a loud Bang Bang Bang and room service entering my room. The front desk authorized the late check-out and the DND sign was on the door.

I was not impressed.

Staff at front desk were unbelievable. Helped us with the room so we could be with our kids. Location is great if you're lookinh for Costco, shopping and nice area generally. Clean room. Awsome pool with a slide.

We stayed here a couple weeks ago and were really disappointed. The hotel is somewhat dated. The wifi barely worked, and the cable TV only worked on certain channels, if at all. We brought this to the attention of staff, and they blamed the weather for the TV issues, which had been nothing but sunny beforehand. The roof itself felt a dirty, and it was annoying to have to request with 24 hours notice to have your room cleaned and basic amenities (like soap) provided. Other people on our floor left towels in the hallways for days on end, so it was clear that while nobody bothered to clean the halls too. The breakfast was decent if you got there in time.

I stayed here for one night at a 1King Study room. The staff were really nice and let me do early check-in, 3 hours prior to the official check-in time.
I left my room and went for lunch and shopping in Dartmouth Crossing and came back after a few hours. I noticed there was a chewed gum on the carpet that wasn’t there before. They had left a note in the desk that they might enter the rooms to finish some caulking. So, I went downstairs and asked if they knew about it and since they couldn’t find the answer, they upgraded my room to 1King Studio Suite.

Both rooms were clean and everything you need (shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap, hair dryer, coffee, mug, coffee machine) were available in the room.

Complementary breakfast was served 6am-9am and included muffins, fresh waffles, bacon, egg cheese, cornflakes, yogurt, oatmeal, fruits and coffee. Some people had brought their own blueberries to put in the waffle mix. Smart, eh?

The pool had slides that attracted many families with young children, playing by the pool until the closing time, 10pm.

Unfortunately the cleanliness of our room was not up to expectations. The A/C unit was disgusting, old crumbs dirt and garbage. There was also garbage on the shelf in the closet.

Well between kids and adults slamming doors and screaming all night.and barfing in the morning.a tv remote that works sometimes but then decides it doesnt want to work. Just a normal hotel I guess.dont really expect much these days.no one goes out of there way gor anything.just heard them in.take there money and heard them out.

Arrived when a hockey tournament was on and was incredibly disappointed with the lack of control over the floor hallways and elevators. Between allowing children to run and yell down hallways to the BLACK Mildew around the tub, Old food and other substances inside the air venting system in two separate rooms, what appears to be human hair on the floor and unknown residues on the mattress I will most certainly NOT be staying at this location again!

Excellent top floor room overlooking the highway with a king bed and pull out couch! Kids loved the breakfast and water slide. We always choose the Hampton!

A very good hotel. Great location, just walking distance to Darkmouth crossing outlet. A unique service I very appreciate that I stay over 100 hotels but no one did it. This is very sweet heart. The staff will send you a message to ask you if you need any help or not. And they always response very fast. Breakfast provided. But sometime when close to 10: 00 am. They will not refill again. This is the only point need to improve.

This was my first time staying at a Hampton Inn property, and it definitely won't be the last. This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The rooms were clean, the pool was nice (albeit a little too cold), and the elevators were quite fast. They are also very supportive of elevator photography, and those who are interested in fire alarms. I'll be staying here again!

Sadly due to the staff member not having her mask pulled down at the front desk, I have to only give 3 stars.
I was not recognized as a diamond member and there was no complimentary bottle of water.
Room carpet was full of dog hair from a previous guest (slippers were covered in white hair)

The room was filthy, food is horrible, everything is dirty same with the pool. Didn't even give us tissues, also they have the bad water, and it's $2 per bottle

This is a great hotel with exceptional staff. We have a son with non verbal autism and we were treated like gold, which we greatly appreciate. The location is also top notch and is walking distance to all shopping and dining amenities, as well as a great park.

The room was spacious and the prices were reasonable.
The room was fairly clean; the coffee maker had old coffee left in it, there were candy wrappers found underneath the bed, and I found a hair in the bathtub drain.
Overall everything else was fresh and clean.
My other complaint is partially due to Covid - but the breakfast doesn't open until 7am. Our flight required us to be gone from the hotel by 7am, so we were unable to eat anything or take anything with us. Pre-Covid most hotels offered a partial breakfast for anyone leaving early. I would think this would be a great thing to offer again!
Overall, a good stay, and served it's purpose - a place to sleep for a night during our travels!

Had a very bad experience! Would not come here again! We checked in just before 9pm, room was quite cold. Turned on the heat to 73F. 20mins in and the fan is still blowing out cool air. Took about 40mins for a tech to come service the unit. A few tries turning it on and off determined the unit shuts itself off at anything higher than 68F. Unit casing was just about falling apart after the tech put it back together (not their fault). Everything is good until 1130pm when the unit fails to turn back on again. Front desk notified and the solution is to send another tech up, at which point we decided to just grab some blankets from the car and call it a night.

Room itself isn't actually that bad. Large, spacious and has a nice layout. Relatively clean.

Bathroom is a different story. Looks like previous guests left behind clothes hangars that were missed by housekeeping. Grimy overall.

The woman at the lobby told us she had cancer and believes that COVID-19 is mostly spread by black people so she was scared when we checked-in. She also expressed that she was surprised by our behavior because to her « black people dont usually behave that way ». Whatever that means. I think you get the picture. Would not recommend this place to any BIPOCS.

A nice hotel with friendly staff. Very convenient at the highway, but very quiet. Comfortable beds. It would have been perfect, if our room would have been cleaner and been sanitized (it just didn't look that way).
I would stay there again, but made sure that we get a clean room.

I got charged for my room twice. We stayed there September 30 till didn't get are money back. We were told would get back. Till waiting. We will not be stay at Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Halifax - Dartmouth again.

The hotel is dated and the toiletries is not enough for two people. I found two strands of long golden hair sticking to the hair dryer. The Kleenex is almost empty. So I asked the front desk to change the hair dryer for me. Feels like our room is not well clean at all. Won’t come back next time if they didn’t improve.

Value: 4 stars

Location: 5 stars, lots of store around and only about 20+ minute drive into downtown area.

Service: 5 stars, they allow us to have a early check-in 3 hours before our check-in time so that was great.

Cleanliness: 1 star, only stayed here for one night but the restroom had a strong mildew/pee smell like when you enter a restroom in the gas station. There was a wring up used and dry towel on top of the shower curtain ring, either room service missed that or they didn't really clean the place. The restroom have no ventilation fan probably reason why there was a mildew smell and the shower curtain was part fabric part plastic. The mildew smell was coming off of the curtain also. The rest of the room seems clean enough but the hotel is out of date.

Look/Aesthetic: 2 stars, not the worst but definitely need a face uplift because it was starting to look and feel like a motel. Also the main door seems to get stuck and have a hard time opening the door every time at room 205.

At check-in the hotel basically refused to honour the confirmed rate from booking.com.

I repeatedly showed them the email that showed the room rate, taxes and levies were included. That didn't work. I strongly suggested that the problem was between the hotel and booking.com and to give me the keys. They wanted me to call the booking agent. I tried that, and email. It was a big hassle at the end of a long day. 25 minute check-in, which I think is unacceptable given that I had a confirmed booking and the problem, if there really was a problem, was theirs, not mine. This is the first time I've had this problem with Hampton Inn.

Well located within recent commercial area. Access to a choice of restaurants and shops. Staff member that welcomed us was somewhat friendly. Clean room and quiet. Did not like the bathroom faucet and sink drain was clogged. Otherwise I would go back. Several amenities.

Coffee on 24/7, close to shops and restaurants. Very nice and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and when you needed extra, no problem.

The hotel rooms can often be extremely unkept and not clean. The pool is absolutely disgusting. Half the time, the water is green, there's unknown substances floating around, clumps of hair, diapers, and lots and lots of bandaids. Does no one working at the establishment have any regard for basic cleanliness or hygiene? Would not recommend for anyone expecting anything mediocre, especially for the charged prices. Nonetheless, the service at the front desk is good, along with a great, enjoyable breakfast.

Clean, good service, good covid friendly breakfast, reliable. I miss the smoothies or fresh squeezed juice they used to at breakfast though. Wish there was better dairy free and meat free breakfast sandwich option and but I can't complain too much for continental breakfast.

The staff here take great care of their clients. Excellent adherence to covid protocols. Very very clean property.

Very clean and extremely friendly staff members. Only thing that needs to be added would be microwaves in each room instead of down in the lobby for those who may be staying longer than a day. Rooms are very comfortable and great sizes

Breakfast was not fresh, especially the fruit, we had to request clean towels, toilet paper and our garbage changed. The sink in our room took a very long time to drain.

Family of 5 just stayed there last night. Gave us a free room upgrade as it was slow. Pool was book by the hour per family so we had the pool to ourselves twice. Close to playground and all food establishments. Beds arent the best but we couldnt be happier with our stay

Booked with the kids for March break so they could swim and it was a total waste of time and money. There was WAY to many people at the pool at once and we didn't feel comfortable AT ALL.we left and kids didn't even get to swim. I called front desk with concerns and she hung up on me saying it's the best they could do. Won't be back to this hotel again.

The staff are incredibly helpful and genuinely friendly. It’s also the only Pig-friendly hotel I’ve found. We’ve been to this hotel several times and always have a good experience.

The rooms were nice and spacious, but the rest was awful, the pool was awful because they allowed 60 people to go at once (during a freaking pandemic) and the hotel was so busy that we couldn’t feel relaxed but the exact opposite, even the breakfast was awful it was so busy you were not able to sit and eat you had to take the little bit they gave you to your room.

Went to see a friend late night and front desk person ignored my knocking, smiling, pleading everything. I was a ghost. A black, masked ghost mind you. Just saying.

Nice hotel. The water slide is also very nice because not so many hotels have water slides. The breakfast was decent. The only problem here was that the wifi didnt work for my phone but I think its just a problem with my phone.

Disappointed that front desk staff are doing nothing about out of control Birthday parties at the pool. Many kids being let in from the back door. This is ruining paying guests stay. Not worth $$ paid to have a family weekend!

DO NOT let them transfer you to the call center! After 15 minutes I had to disconnect due to a communication breakdown. I was told no rooms available after quoting me $40 more a night. Called the hotel back and booked the room at the right price within 2 minutes.

Nice hotel and the breakfast is as good as any buffet breakfast. Thing is I feel I'm at a kinder party eating with plastic cutlery and off paper plates. Can't be good for the environment also. We are adults not children paying a lot of money for a cheap service.

Nice rooms as you would expect from a Hampton Inn. Convenient location close to highway and in the industrial park. Complimentary beer/wine and appetizers was a nice touch for customer appreciation night.
