Hector Heritage Quay

My family and I had a wonderful time today and the staff was absolutely incredible. We loved it so much we'll probably be making another trip out here again soon!

Very well done. You forget how much history is in your own backyard when you are from here. Highly recommended.

Visite vraiment très intéressante sur l'arrivée des premiers Écossais en Nouvelle-Ecosse. Audio-guide gratuits en anglais et en français. Seule déception: nous n'avons pas pu visiter le bateau car il est en rénovation, ce qui n'est pas indiqué sur le site, vraiment dommage. Merci pour la belle visite!

Very interesting museum. The staff were very friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend this place.

This is the history of the Scottish Highlanders emigrating to Nova Scotia. A must see in Pictou, NS.

I enjoyed my time at this museum a lot. It was really interesting to learn about the early Scottish settlers and their experiences before and after coming to NS.

I’m giving it a 3 star review, though, because there is a complete lack of information on the Mi’kmaq people here at the time and the role they played in the survival of the Scottish settlers. We had to ask to get any information on this relationship, and the tour guide didn’t have a lot of information to tell us other than that the communities collaborated in earlier times.

Outside the Museum, in Pictou, there are many more places that include Mi’kmaq history and experiences, but this is completely absent in the Hector Heritage Quay.

Please consider adding some information to make this experience even better!

Very charming waterfront restoration project including the reconstruction of a ship used to bring in the original settlers. Great opportunity to support saving our history and heritage.

They offer a lot of information about the first settlers in Novascotia. Their life style, the materials they used. The spectacular view of the first ship landed in Nova scotia the the prime attraction of this place.

Parked along the road, walked along the water front. Read the signs, learned that the first all Black Canadian Regiment was in WW2.

Nice place to talk a leisurely walk (unfortunately it is rainy and misty when we visited). You can see the mill across the water!
