Helen's Family Barber Shop & Tanning

While on vacation, I visited Helen's Barber Shop. It offers a great balance between services and prices. Also, there was a cozy atmosphere, and the highly experienced professional, Yuliia. I recommend this salon and Yuliiaʼs services to everyone visiting this place. It's definitely a good spot with a skilled masters.

Wonderful hair salon! I went for a haircut for myself and my 8-year-old daughter and really enjoyed it! Great haircuts, positive staff and nice interior. I am delighted and will definitely go there for my haircut.

I am visiting Halifax and found Helen's Barbershop on Google. As a first timer this was a great experience. The haircut was done very well and there was no lack of attention on my request. The place looks very modern and clean. The prices are very reasonable. I like the service and was surprised that wash, dry and style was incluing - most of the barbers in Ontario will be charging extra. Darina did a great haircut. I am very satisfied!

Jill gave me a fabulous cut and this was my first time here. Also got a military discount! This hairdresser and place were recommended to me b/c they don't charge extra for women's versus men's cuts. Very rare and will keep me coming here now for years. Thank you!

Georgia is an architect of hair! What she has created with my impossibly baby-fine hair is remarkable. And arguably Georgia the best at #blonde colour in all of Halifax. I feel very lucky to have found Georgia and Helen’s‍️️

Brought my 2 year old son for a haircut, I was worried they will not be able to do his hair because he was crying and moving a lot. But Domenica managed to cut his hair and she is really good with kids. Plus the haircut was nice and clean. I will definitely bring my son here every time he will need a haircut.

Great atmosphere, very clean and very friendly staff. My friend and I both have Theresa cut and style our hair. She is the best in our eyes and we wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

Very professional and great customer service that I have never received before in any other places. All my daughters and even my son and me saw great results. All our haircuts were personalised exactly how we wanted and I even got a hair updos that turned out amazing.

I have been here a few times to see Anna, she gives me an amazing cut every time. Great attention to detail and provides an amazing shampoo as well. I’ve been to numerous barbers in Halifax, she’s the only barber who knew what a “French Crop” was.

Been going for 10 years. Anna is particularly good with man cuts. Her attention to detail makes your cut look fresh even after 3 weeks. Just make sure you tip appropriately for the extra time spent.

Superb place. Staff is very professional and at the same time friendly. They adjusted me even though I was running late as per my appointment and that too without any issues at all. I really liked the service too as I didn't have to explain a lot about what kind of haircut I wanted. And very good to the pocket too!
Overall experience - SUPERB!

If you're looking for a good fade or any cut for that matter, Anna is the one to ask for. She never rushes and makes sure you alway leave happy.

Great cuts, great price, great location, chatting with the stylists is always a pleasure, time goes by fast. Never felt like I was there longer than a few minutes.

The place is cozy and the staff are professional yet friendly. The parking lot can be atrocious, but there is usually parking somewhere around. The quality is good, and the prices are very reasonable. There are not very many products here, but it is to cut hair more than to sell products.
I would recommend this place.

This place is close to CFB Stadeconna. The ladies here will give you a top notch fade and will toss in a few extras like friendly hilarious conversations and AMAZING scalp massages. My go to place for a haircut when I'm in the city.

Started coming here for haircuts shortly after moving to Halifax. Tried other places first and they weren't consistently good or I had to book a month in advance. Everyone in Helens is very friendly and accommodating and does a good job. 5/5 cya's soon.

I walked in because my car was in the shop and I had to wait for it. I asked if i need an appointment and they said no. Few minutes later they say i need to wait for another 20 minutes because she did not realize she had an Appointment coming in soon. I said I will wait.then the other hair dresser said she can take me in. She:
- she used an older straight razor on me
- did not ask me how short i need my hair just started cutting
- finished my cut in literally 4 mns
- did not clean my face and neck after the cut
- smelled like stinking smoke

Great staff, reasonable price and usually easy to walk in. Call ahead if you want someone specific or are going to be close to closing time.
