We were here in September. The views are stunning. Facilities are very clean. Th store/restaurant wasn’t really much. The drive here in an rv was harrowing, but so glad we made it.

Such a friendly couple running this place.
Oysters were delicious and very well priced along with beer and wine.
Although known as an oyster bar they offer seasonal crab and lobster if you are lucky enough to go there in season.
We booked a site right on the cliff / cove view which offered spectacular views and if you are up early enough you can watch the sun rise.
Toilets / washrooms are plentiful, very clean and tidy with the showers taking $1 coins (loonies) for 5 minutes of use. The toilet on the cliff / cove is flushable but there is no light so be sure to take a torch (and to make sure you can find your way there in the dark).
There is a walking trail which takes you directly down to a gorgeous beach, when we went we were the only people on the entire stretch.
WiFi will only work around the office area and is not accessible site wide.

Super bon service, la dame était charmante et patiente avec moi. Ma décoter un emplacement pas trop loin des douches avec une superbe vue. Que demander de plus!

In our 25,000 miles of camping, Hideaway’s owners, Alex and Susan, are the most helpful, friendly and customer oriented folks we’ve met. When we left our 30amp-50 amp adapter at another campground at Mira River, Susan not only sourced a new one, but arranged for it to be delivered to their camp. The camps’ location is at the far NE corner of Cape Breton, offering easy access to the National Park and terrific spots like White Point and Meat Cove. Campsite have direct views onto the ocean. Susan and Alex will point you to the best spots for hiking, kayaking, hiking, or whale watching —— and most important —-serve you oysters they harvest from their own oyster farm. The oysters are scrumptious. We are only sorry we spent four nights at Hideaway. Looking forward to returning for a much longer stay.

We stopped in and had their amazing fresh oysters and snow crab! Out of this world good. Wow! The owner is so nice and inviting and will share info about the area, sea life and process of getting the sea food on your plate! Spoke with a couple of people staying at the camp ground and they said they were enjoying it! Our team at PhotographingInTheMoment (insta) #photographinginthemoment will be back!

Nice campground in a great location. Owners were great with tips to see and hikes in the area. Plus a great beach for sunrise pictures. Deducted 1 star for being tight with our 5th wheel trailer and the required U turn to get into our spot.

Wonderful campground, gorgeous views, friendly staff, very reasonable prices!

We stayed in the cabin that has electricity. It had everything that we needed.

Our kids enjoyed the zip line
We had a fantastic time at the beach nearby.
We tried oysters for the first time.

I would highly recommend!

Really great campground with excellent facilities. The views are quite stunning overlooking sugar loaf mountain. Perfectly situated between the middle of the Cabot trail. My parter and I have been here twice, and we’ll certainly visit again.

Fantastic campground! Beautiful views, friendly staff, private camp sites, and quiet. This is our third year staying at Hideaway and we can’t wait to return next Summer! We stayed at a few other campgrounds on the trail and Hideaway is by far our favourite!

After driving 14 hours from the US, I arrived to the Hide Away Campground! Upon arriving, I walked into the main office and was greeted by the owners, Susan and Alex. After paying for my service space (15a electricity and water), I really wanted something to eat. Good thing they mentioned that had freshly caught oysters and crab! I decided to eat the crab and it was delicious!

After lunch, I went to my RV camp site which faced the ocean and of Dingwall (northeast). It was very quiet with a slight cool breeze. My neighbors were quiet and respectful for my entire stay. Also, the restrooms and bathrooms were kept clean.

There's so much to do here and the surrounding areas. 2 nights was not enough for me. This location has everything close by: food, gas, trails, beach, and lakes. I will make a return trip here the next time.

Delightful spot. Crab legs and oysters are pricey yet they were unexpected and hit the spot. Beautiful sunrise and sunset views from some of the campsites. Bathrooms clean
22 September 2022 3:53
Views and location are great. The owners were accusatory and rude right from check in which was odd since our group of friends have come for years with no issues. The owners made sure we didn't get to enjoy the house rental at all.

I have mixed feelings on our recent stay. Let’s start with the good.

The view. Absolutely incredible, 10/10. Probably the reason this campsite still exists.

The price. Very reasonably priced. No complaints there.

The staff was very friendly, and they seem like they do try to do the best they can!

Now the not so good. Me and my wife stayed in a cabin they have to offer. We were told there was a queen sized mattress there, all we needed was bedding. Scratch that, the bed, at least in the cabin we stayed in is reminiscent of a sheet draped over some springs. It’s awful. Hurts to sleep on, makes you ache for days to come. Bring your own mattress pad or inflatable mattress because the provided mattress is not good enough.

The bathrooms, I’ve seen some complaints about the coin operated showers. I think I can look past that given the price of the campground. Although I can’t look past the fact one of the bathrooms never had soap in it for the whole time we were there. Also multiple times in the morning there was no toilet paper in one or more bathroom.

The wood, for 7$ it’s not enough wood. Keep the price that’s fine, add a couple more pieces. No real need to be that greedy over wood. Guaranteed you could fill the bags and still turn a profit.

All in all, it’s still a very worth while place to rent a cabin, or a site just for the view alone. That being said with a couple minor changes you could take a good campground, and make it into a stunning place!

This is probably the best campground you can find in the area. The views are amazing, the accommodations are awesome (washers/dryers, full hook-ups available for RVs, FRESH OYSTERS ON SITE, etc.), and the staff were all super friendly. It's is one of my favorite campgrounds ever. (One warning: the mosquitoes in this area are the size of birds, so make sure to pack your bug spray!)
04 September 2022 19:22
Didn’t stay here (unfortunately!) but I did stop by for some oysters on my drive around the Cabot Trail! After seeing thier signs for many km of the trip, finally at. 5km away I said “aw, shuck it! ” a d made a detour. So glad I did! It was fun to swing by and I enjoyed 9 gorgeous and fresh local oysters- served with all the appropriate accomplishments- before getting back in the car to finish the loop! Absolutely a must do!
29 August 2022 17:24
Love this place. Me and my better half camp here almost every summer. Beautiful views and located about halfway around the Cabot Trail! Cabot Beach is located just a few minutes car ride away or you can walk from the campground to the beach located just down a bit from the campground.

I was looking forward to checking out this place considering I’ve heard good things about it. I went to the campsite at 8: 50 in the morning to ask some questions about the camp ground and availability. The lady owner quickly runs over to my car waving her hands in the air by saying I can’t be here unless I have a campsite. I was in shock. I’ve never had anyone run over to my car like that it was very odd. She acted like I was trying to do something illegal. I asked her if they had anything available for the next weekend and she further stated that if I wanted to ask any questions they don’t open until 9am…. Literally 10 minutes later. I’ve read reviews on this place and heard that the lady owner is extremely rude and age biased which makes sense considering me and my partner are in our early twenties. I wouldn’t waste my time trying to camp here unless you’re over the age of 30.

First time here, I will be back for sure! Campsites have fire pit and picnic tables. Lots of tree cover from morning sun. The most beautiful view of the ocean if you stay at sites 15,14,13,12,11. Office has things you might need. Most stores do not open until 9am in the area. There's a playground behind the sites mentioned. Also a zipline for kids. Highly recommend. Price per night 33$

Location was great but you would need to have a second vehicle if you have an RV because most things are a car ride away. Beach was beautiful but it was approximately a km walk. The hosts Sue and Alex were awesome, very lovely to talk to and knew the area very well. If you are lucky enough to go there at certain times of the year you will be able to get fresh snow crab which Alex cooks and of course oysters.

Not a bad price. Helpful owners upon our arrival. Great view! Only complaint was there was a baggie with crumbs under the mattress when we arrived so it wasn't cleaned underneath. Also the bathrooms could have been cleaned in the morning and garbages emptied more often. Not bad as I only saw 3 people working the whole gigantic campsite. Hard workers!
25 August 2021 0:56
Booked this camp site based on rating. Very bad experience. Its a mosquito hub. They charge $1 per 5 minutes for shower additional to camp price. The view is good but not worth the trouble.

Hideaway campground has always been a favorite! Staff are very polite, friendly, always willing to help to the best of their ability! I have done both had a tent lot very spacious, and their well spaced so your not ontop of your neighbor and have lots of privacy. The cabins are absolutely stunning, spacious aswell as spotless! Very reasonably priced, all items and amenities! Highly recommended staying here, weather it's with your family or some one on one time with your loved one. You won't regret it!

Fantastic private campground with a wide variety of lots, some in more opens areas with amazing views and others tucked into woodsy areas. One of the best perks is they also serve amazing oysters that are super fresh and shucked right in front of you. I've been coming here for years as never disappoints!
18 April 2021 3:55
Probably the most beautiful scenery on this side of the island.the campground was very clean and the owners were very nice.lots of things to do close by especially if you're a beach lover
10 April 2021 10:24
Called to reserve a plot, was hung up on. When I called back the lady was overly rude and refused to accept my reservation. Demanded to know my location, I'm on vacation from P.e. I.since I'm a tourist I'm unable to pin point my location. Was told when I called the first time there was plenty of open plots aswell. "You're not going to make it here anyways"
06 April 2021 12:23
Beautiful view from our tent site. Friendly staff. Clean washrooms. Showers are nice as well as the laundry room. Wifi by office. Beach is a bit of a drive and walk but not far. Enjoyed our time here.

An amazing place to spend some quality time with stunning views, beaches, seafood, and ideal camping conditions with fantastic amenities for the whole family

Awesome spot, beautiful views, best oysters I have ever had. Make sure to make your way to the beach, one of the nicest in the province and you may have it to your selves.
16 March 2021 12:44
This campground is wonderful and the owners are ones to be supported. Please travel the distance to come to this glorious place. We stayed here for a week and absolutely loved the place. The owners were so accommodating and the facilities were fantastic. The campsites are well laid out, spacious, lots of trees on many of them and open fields on many of the powered sites. They also have really cool cabins. One in the shape of a lighthouse. They typically havea great oyster bar too but this wasn’t happening when we were there because it was shut down due to this being COVID year. I didn’t miss it though and had a fabulous time.
10 March 2021 6:38
Excellent place. Only complaint is the mattress was a little bit springy. Otherwise the people were pleasant and the scenery is beautiful.
06 March 2021 11:02
It was our 3rd time staying there for several nights. We love, the kids love it. The staff are very friendly. Super close to many hiking trails and beaches. The secret beach is awesome! We will be back next year.
01 March 2021 2:22
This campsite is fantastic. Very well maintained and you are surrounded by spectacular views. It’s in a great area along the Cabot trail, with lots of hikes and a beautiful beach nearby. I look forward to coming back one day!
16 December 2019 3:53
Beautiful place run by lovely people (and a very sweet brown lab). We loved it here so much we stayed twice!
25 October 2019 22:04
I tent camped here while cycling Cabot Trail. Thank you for your hospitality! I would stay again and again.
20 October 2019 9:04
Large, private sites, friendly owners, well maintained. Many view sites are out in the open, but there are some wooded sites with a view. Walking trails to the Aspy River.
08 October 2019 4:18
During our three week trip with RV in Nova Scotia this was one of the best campgrounds. Enough free space to play. Quiet. Beautiful beach with little people and clear water is 5min with the car away. Dumping station and fresh water also available.
The owner was extremely friendly!
28 September 2019 0:02
The views, the oysters and the service - top notch spot! We'll definitely be going back! (Note: I only had 2 oysters because it was early in the morning and oysters don't really pair well with coffee)
27 September 2019 13:13
Really great experience, honestly. A beautiful park with breathtaking views! Would have given 5 stars, except that the bathroom needed more frequent maintenance and restocking, especially with the large group in our area. Also, it shouldn't have smelled as bad as it did for what it is (not an outhouse but a flush toilet). At times the whole area stunk of sewage.
22 September 2019 17:30
Nice Campground, private sites, tremendous view.but more than 10 minutes to the beach. Might be 10 minutes by car but not with Rv or Walking
20 September 2019 11:55
Very nice place! The hosts are wonderful, friendly and helpful. Beautiful views from the bench overlooking the ocean. Riding out Hurricane Dorian in a sheltered site that the hosts moved us to.
AND. The oysters are some of the best I've had, ever! They have a clean briny start and a long sweet finish. I heartily recommend Hide Away!
01 September 2019 3:45
Great place. Nice view of the water. Not busy. Full 30 amp service. Would be better with 50 amps but 30 amps worked as well
24 August 2019 14:10
We had an awesome week here! The owners were super helpful with local activities and check in. Our site was very level (our jacks weren’t working so we were thankful for this!). We ordered dinner twice and took it back to our RV to eat; delicious! Were very sad to leave.
01 August 2019 5:40
One of my absolute fave campgrounds. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the view is incomparable. There are little walking trails around the site that can keep you busy after the highland trails!

They allow pets in their cabins, which cost around 80 a night. We stay here at least 1 night every year!
