Hillcrest View Inn

I am sad to give a poor review to this establishment because we stayed there twice before the pandemic, once for a wedding in 2010 and once after that, and it was good previously. But our most recent stay was not enjoyable. We were there in June and our room had a major ant problem. They were all over the room and especially in the bathroom. Also our bathroom door was broken when we got there and would not fully close, that was the most upsetting part. There's nobody on-site to help so that felt like we were kind of on our own. We didn't really have enough towels because there were 3 adults and one child and two of each type of towel. Luckily we had some beach towels with us, so we didn't have to call for help. The carpet was not very clean, but the beds seemed clean. The door locks don't work properly and we were with a group, three rooms all together, and every time we stepped out for a minute to see someone else the door would lock automatically about 5 seconds after going out. So we had to keep remembering the one key for each room so we wouldn't get locked out. We didn't watch TV because there's nothing on it unless you have your own streaming service access to log in with. There was wifi included though. They were also aware of the problems beforehand (except maybe the broken door) because they told us the keyless locks weren't working and left keys for us under a mat and had ant traps out in the room. The restaurant was our favorite part of staying there in the past but apparently there was a fire and it was never reopened. Unfortunately we won't be going back, sadly. It's one of the only places to stay in Pugwash. They did accomodate our request for a cot, but I let them know ahead of time so just keep in mind because they are offsite you probably need to do that and not wait until last minute when you arrive. Also the highway it's on was extremely noisy all night for some reason, which seems strange for such a small town. I did not sleep that night. Hopefully things will be improved for next season.

We stayed at this location at the last moment and the staff was very accommodating to us. The rooms were so clean and fairly updated. I only wish the restaurant wasn't closed (Due to fire so beyond their control)

Easy to find, very friendly receptionist. Room was brand new inside and it had a great kitchenette area with everything you could possibly need during your stay. Really reasonable price
