Hungry Hut

Hungry Hut has been a staple in the Dartmouth community for as long as I can remember. The food is amazing, especially the donair pockets (my fave), but the service is really what makes this place special. My partner and I both used to come here as kids and Hana always lets us know how sweet it is that she sees us together now. Everyone is always positive, smiling and happy to see you, whether it's been a day, a week or a year you can always count on the Family of Hungry Hut to accept you and welcome you home. We love Hungry Hut, from the mozzarella sticks, roast beef subs, donairs, all the way to the pizza, garlic fingers and deep fried pepperoni, there's nothing on their menu that they don't make perfectly. This place has the best food and the best prices in town. The people who work there are really nice too and friendly. I had the best pizza pocket in town and my husband had a donair that he says was awesome.

Super friendly people! I ordered the Donair with cheese, I think it's my favourite in Halifax/Dartmouth now. It was super good! And not crazy messy like most donairs. My favorite before I tried this was Tony's Donair.
But hungry hut prepare theirs with much more care, and it shows. That is why this is now my favorite Donair. Thank you

Delicious donair meat- the best in town + the friendliest service ever. What more could you ask for? Extremely fair prices and always made to feel welcome. A must try- you will return.

Don't get what the positive reviews are about. Donair meat came out of a container in the fridge, and was drenched in super sweet sauce with next to nothing else but a few bits of tomato. In a city full of donair places, there's better to be had.

Fantastic family run and very personable. Food is always fresh and delicious, my go to donair plate shop.

My favourite spot in the HRM for donairs! Delicious and the flavour is the best! This is a small family owned business and when you walk in you feel like family. Literally Hannah, Sam or Ma will ask you how you’ve been doing and remember your face and what you’ve told them. I can’t recommend them enough. It’s a beautiful thing when delicious food is paired with people with big hearts. Covid has hit hard and we’re so glad you’re here Hungry Hut crew! Much love! Keep being your wonderful selves!

Best pizza around! They're a family run business, I've been going here since I was a kid and they never ever disappoint. Some of the kindest people I know, who just happen to make the best pizza around. Fast, friendly & quality service - if you haven't had a chance to check them out please go do so!

Sam and family are possibly THE friendliest business owners I've ever encountered in HRM. My friend mentioned them to me years ago when he was a regular, where they knew his voice from just the phone. Since I moved to Dartmouth three years ago, I obviously had to try it. Tried the pizza sub, the panzerotti/ponzo/calzone and a "Cape Breton combination" (although to them it's just a three-topping pizza). Lol All tasty and I'd get again! The pizza has a generous amount of cheese, which is important to me. Want to try other things on their menu soon.

First tried this spot last night, donair was freaking awesome! Shout outs to Sam, Bud, and papa John. Very nice family

The food was alright. My son says he really enjoyed his cheeseburger, I had a chicken burger. It could have used more lettuce and cheese and maybe a house sauce if that was a thing at Hungry Hut. The fries were piping hot (10/10/ but we're incredibly.bland. Nice big pile of fries went with our burgers. Thanks for serving us Hungry Hut

People there were so nice, and they just made me feel very welcomed. The food was amazing, I just am not the biggest fan of Donair sauce but I don't lower them down for my own personal taste, will definitely be going again

Hands down the rudest service ive ever gotten. I'm very disappointed about it since I was always a fan of this place. The manager is a complete idiot and I hope they find new staff

I have ordered so much food from there. I miss them already and I have only been moved out of Dartmouth one day.

Great food and friendly vibes. Ate here 3 times over the past few weeks and been happy as can be every time. They are run by a very friendly and thoughtful family, who always ask how your doing with a smile on their faces. They are also very quick and efficient, from my 3 times they were exact with the estimate they gave me (20mins on average).

Food: the pizza was really good, especially with the side of cooked pepperoni (not spicy at all so anyone can handle it) Wings were exactly how i like them (i i asked for well done with sauce on the side) cheese sticks hit the spot, and ceaser wraps were decent with real fresh bacon and chicken but i feel needed more sauce.

The only negative thing id say about this place is it almost looks like an old run down corner store from the outside. We've passed by it multiple times in the past not knowing what it was. Definitely dont judge this book by its cover.

The staff was friendly and meant well, but I was concerned that they were directly touching my food with their bare hands. This was in February before the covid wave came to Nova Scotia but jeez; this is how these things start. ‍️

I love the Hungry Hut - in fact it is our Friday night pizza spot. We always get the large pizza special with 4 toppings - good bang for your buck. Their crust is incredible and good amount of toppings. It is consistently good too! We like our pizza well done so I usually ask for that. The family is super friendly - over the phone and in person - lovely folks. We will continue to support this great family business in downtown Dartmouth! I can't speak for the rest of the menu as I haven't tried it but the pizza is delicious. Keep up the great pizza-making and business Hungry Hut!:)

I had the donair with cheese, it was delicious First time there and the staff was super friendly. Being new to the area, they welcomed me. A great "homey" feeling. Definitely will go back.

Best donair pizza on the Dark Side - love the family vibe, and they are always happy to see new and repeat customers. The people are as warm as the pizzas they make! Order here, it's a good buy!

I went there with $20 and came back with a stomach ache and crabs. It was the most disgusting experience I've ever had. My Donaire was soggy and I found three hairs in it and what appeared to be a dried onion (but I'm pretty sure it was a toenail)! God, that place is disgusting.

The family that runs this place is top notch and definately add to the experience. The quality of food is great and consistent. Whether you go today or three weeks or three months from now it's the same consistent good food. Favorite pizza place in HRM.

I went in and asked for a burger and they put a frozen burger patty from Costco on a flat top and said here you go enjoy.if i wanted a frozen burger from Costco i could go to costco

2nd time ordering, med pizza & sm donair, $24.04! Took an hour & everything and was cold!

Spent a few days in Dartmouth and came here based on the reviews. The food may not be fancy, but it's delicious. Felt like family while we were there; everyone was so kind and friendly. If I ever find myself back in town I'll definitely be grabbing another meal from them!

Greasy. Overcooked. And plain disgusting.

Warm and welcoming staff, had a nice talk with them while waiting for my food. The Donair was delicious, great portion and price too. I would recommend Hungry Hut everyday of the week.

This is the best place to eat donair in Halifax and very underrated. The first thing I like about the restaurant, the atmosphere so welcoming and it's family owned, doing it the old way and the service was amazing. Thanks again, go eat here!

Likely the best Donair I’ve ever had! If you’re in the Halifax area it’s a must! Family owned old school business doing it the right way. The sauce is the key to any Donair and it’s outstanding here. Great service, not much more they can do better here.

First time I went to Hungry Hut I was barely 12 years old. They welcomed me from day 1. Always get what you want and it tastes great. Love the staff to bits. I'm 27 now and they are still the same lovely family they were 15 years ago. 6 stars.

Great pizza and garlic fingers made by warm and friendly people! I was in town for work with my young teen aged son and they welcomed us and joked around with my boy. Food was flavorful and plentiful for a great price, and we even had lunch for the next day.

Come for the pizza, stay for the donairs, come back tomorrow for the garlic fingers. Everything these guys make is delicious if you're in the mood for some pizza place fare. They oughta be teaching donair school. The meat is delicious, perfectly chewy but with a satisfying crisp. The sauce is textbook. The veggies are always fresh. The pitas are prepared awesome so you get a nice mix of cripsy and chewy - they are never a soggy mess.

Portions are generous across the entire menu, including the pizza toppings and cheese on the garlic fingers.

If you're not convinced already, the family working here are so genuine and friendly. You leave this place with a delicious dinner and nice feeling that you've supported some great people.
