Island Sunset Resort

The perfect spot for a sunset on the ocean. They made late check in very easy after a long day of driving. Yummy restaurant too. Thank you!

CAUTION! NOT A COTTAGE AND NOT LUXURY
not sure where the great reviews are coming from, in my opinion, they are questionable.
These are quadplexes with paper thin walls. The private deck is not shared but most are staring at another persons door, ours was on the main road so no privacy whatsoever. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The rooms were supposed to have a tv in livingroom and bedroom but was told "no, sorry, not in every room". Our room was not clean with hair all around the tub, the shower and tiolet were clearly used and not cleaned so forget about sanitized.
The doors are rusted, rooms are musty smelling.
Parts of the advertising are just lies such as 50 feet from the ocean, no its adjacent but much further than advertised and for lie #2. LUXURY!
The rooms look like hand me down furniture from the late 70's early 80's. There is absolutely no attention to detail and everything is cheap. The small appliances are are the cheapest you can find. The dishes are old and mismatched, curtains are dirty and homemade. The tv stand for the 29 inch CRT TV was broken, the area rug was worn out and damaged.
The "group of investors" should be ashamed of themselves. The employees are kind but severely untrained and left to deal with the failures of these owners. Horrible way to treat employees, they are owed proper training.
The food is good but not great and in no way "fine dining". Again no investments in training the staff, leaving it up to servers to try and give good service. Ordered a drink and had to ask the server after 20 minutes who told me she was sick and distracted (yay, love sick people handling my consumerables). Brought me a drink that was just the overly sweet mix you buy in the grocery store.really!? ! Fine dining? !? Stick with beer or wine as there are no trained bartenders.still question if the vodka was ever added.
Disturbing that if this was a first and only visit to our province, this is what would be the impression of what Nova Scotia thinks LUXURY and FINE DINING is.
This is just a 1 star outdated, rundown cheap motel at best.

The streak came back red when I asked for well done no pink. We were a party of 10 and two of our meals came after everyone else was done eating. The haddock dinner did not have the sauce as advertised. The waitress failed to understand that one person had chosen two alternative sides which was an option so patron got the two normal sides plus the replacement and were charged for the errors. This is the eight or nineth time going over the past ten years and it just gets worsted. Had to send back three Spanish coffees one time because they were not even like warm. This is an overpriced poorly managed dive

Most beautiful stay. Beautiful cottage with outstanding view. Nothing better than hearing the waves drift you into sleep.

Day 4 of our 5 day stay here and we couldn’t be happier! Our unit is spacious, well appointed and the views are spectacular with the beach steps away. Marie is lovely and very helpful and accommodating with any requests.
Perfectly situated 25 minutes from Cabot Cliffs/Links and 20 minutes from Cheticamp, right on the water, it’s the hub to everything.
The 3 meals we’ve had here have been great! Expect both a casual setting and presentation of dishes and you won’t be disappointed. The quality of ingredients in every dish we’ve had have been top notch, perfectly prepared, delicious and the service team are wonderful! The open kitchen watching the chefs is an added bonus. The steak and ale night on Tuesday with live fiddling was great!
The restaurant isn’t open for breakfast but there is a little gem 5 minutes away at the Duck Cove Inn that opens at 7: 30 where you can get everything from a traditional breakfast to homemade fish cakes, baked beans and toast.
Highly recommend a visit to Island Sunset. Try the haddock and lobster!

Chowder good but a bit salty and too thickened.

Did not stay here, but the cottages looked charming with an outstanding view of the ocean. We did eat here and the service was excellent, our food arrived promptly and it tasted delicious. Would recommend this restaurant highly as a fine dining experience.

Resort is getting a bit tired with outdated TV, cracked floor tiles, needs paint, wooden floors water damaged, musty dank smell, internet intermittent, phone crackly. View and dinning are excellent

Beautiful, clean, relaxing, amazing sunset views. Need I say more? Loved my stay was fortunate enough to have the entire place to my boyfriend and i. We will for sure be going back its worth every penny!

L'appellation "resort" est un peu exagérée. Les cottages sont vieux et sentent l'humidité. Ils auraient besoin d'une bonne rénovation. Point positif: la situation géographique est bonne.

It was very nice. Worth the drive from Judique. We shared a lobster poutine and halibut in a lobster cream sauce.

Spacieux et propre. Les télé sont d'une autre époque mais c'est pas pour regarder la télé qu'on vient ici.
Difficile de trouver un petit déjeuner hors saison, en fait, rien à des kilomètres. En déplacement pour le travail, je suis arrivé tard et parti tôt le lendemain. Je n'ai vu personne. Service à la clientèle entre 9h et 17h, hors saison.

Great staff, prompt service great views. Varying menu, also had a kids menu prepared as well. As this is a upscale dining experience be prepared for a bit more out of pocket HOWEVER I got the 3 course special which included soup, salmon and dessert for $32.00 so can't beat that. Definitely great value for the price. Would highly recommend for a dinner date at sunset to anyone stopping by. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is cause there isn't a 4.5 star option and we'll nobody gets a 5 star but this is damn close!

Sehr gutes Restaurant mit toller Aussicht. Waren an einem Abend mit live Musik essen. Küche ist sehr gut. Personal ist sehr Nett.

We had our wedding here this past August. Have been meaning to leave this review for a while.

The crew here were incredibly accommodating! Our wedding day was perfect and seamless. We are definitely happy we chose Island Sunset as our wedding venue. Our ceremony was on the beach and we were able to set up the morning of since it's not a very busy beach. Our dinner and reception was held in the restaurant. The food came out fast and everyone commented on how great the food was. The second evening everyone went to the Steak and Stein they hold every Tuesday. The food the second night was equally amazing as was the live entertainment. The accommodations were great! The cleaning crew came in daily and they were all so sweet and helpful. Nicole their in-house Coordinator was great to work with and Margie their Restaurant Manager was a big help when we arrived. I have no complaints! Our wedding was perfect and I strongly recommend Island Sunset as a wedding venue.

Nice place. Inside is a tad dated (I have not seen CRT TVs in a hotel in many years) and bathroom sink is cramped in. In late fall when you can’t really utilize the outside view and seating area, I am not sure the value proposition is that great since that is partially what you are paying for.also they don't provide breakfast which most other places seem to include. But room is very large and a living room and kitchenette are great to have - and for many people maybe a kitchenette offsets lack of providing breakfast.

We had a wonderful dinner at The Island Sunset.the steak was delicious! Service is excellent and the view is great at sunset!
