We hadn't been to Kempsters in years. It's just not close to where we live. We went there for breakfast for the first time, and it was amazing. Got pancakes on the side, and they were the best restaurant pancakes I've ever had. There are too many places that their pancakes are either too dense or tasteless. These were nice and light and buttery. We'll definitely plan on coming back for breakfast again.

Kempsters had always been our family's go to place for comfort food! The staff are always very friendly and the food is awesome every time!

Hamburger bun and fries were soggy, and the waitress kept forgetting to bring ordered beverages and condiments

Not vegetarian friendly for breakfast as everything comes with meat and you cannot replace it with fruit.

Always excellent service. Went with a large group and food was very good, hot and served to everybody at the same time. Very diverse menu.

Great place to eat with your parents or grandparents. Good home comfort food. Service is friendly and fast.

Was there with family within last two months. Used to frequent often long time ago but since moving, it's out of the way. Just happened to be in the area one day so decided to eat there again.

Food not as good. Server was friendly but shirt was unbuttoned near top exposing his very hairy chest. Didn't need to see that. Found that be very unhygienic. Won't go again.

Service was good but breakfast potatoes overcooked & dry and their eggs always overcooked. We usually go once a week for breakfast but the quality of the food has gone down hill which prevents us to go there anymore

Went here for dinner around 5pm, it was pretty dead. Our server was great, food was to die for. Especially the maple curry pasta. Everything came quickly and fresh.

I enjoy this restraunt, my son and I have gone there quite a few times. The food is always good never had a complaint always fast service. They have a great breakfast, and alot of dinner specials through the week. The place can be busy but that's fine just sign that they.must be doing something correctly. You get alot of food on your place no skimpy portions. I will be back again keep up the good work

I just ordered $70 worth of food from Kempsters through door dash. I paid an extra $3 dollars for onions rings with my fish and chips and when it arrived there was LITERALLY 4 onion rings. FOUR. I paid 75 cents per onion ring ON TOP of the price of the “Fish and Chips” this is an absolute rip off. The food may be good but it IS NOT $24 dollars for two tiny pieces of fish and FOUR onion rings good. This is ridiculous.

The food was fantastic, the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Edwina was lovely, great service.will be back!

Very tasty food, but portions are a bit small considering the price. Very friendly service as well!

Food was cold. Service very slow considering there were several empty tables. As much coffee as wanted was offered, but when asked for more hot water, I would have expected a new tea bag as well. We probably won't be back.

Excellent food and the service was excellent as well. Dad love the fish and chips. Will need to try that the next time we are there.

Travelled up 2 Halifax to visit my daughter and grandson. I am from Cape Breton. I remember going Kempsters restaurant many years ago with my husband when we lived in Halifax and we always had a great home-cooked meal so we decided to give it a try. It still has the best home cooked meals and friendly staff. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice home-cooked meal instead of those greasy meals that you get it lost of the other restaurant They have a large menu full of items to choose from, something for everyone.

Excellent all around. Food arrived within a reasonable time and was made perfectly. Server was attentive, kind, and personable. Ate 30 minutes before close and everything seemed fresh. Will definitely be back, very well done.

Nice place, friendly servers. Went for lunch and got the seafood chowder. Not the best I've had and not the worst. If I go back again I'll definitely try something different

Was in Halifax for a business trip and this was the go to for lunches. Great staff and food. Bring your proof of vaccination to enter.

Everything was absolutely delicious! The stew was homemade and sooooooo good! The prices were reasonable, and there are so many things I want to try on the menu! Will definitely be back!

The Kempsters skillet was quite tasty. The service was quite slow however because I think the restaurant was short staffed. They did an excellent job considering.

Great spot to go for a catch up breakfast with friends. Food is good, service is friendly and coffee is topped up often! Portions are generous and decent price, a go to spot when we are hungry especially for brunch!

It has been a while since I stopped in. But the food is still great, the staff are still friendly, so I will be back.

Bonus, they do breakfast all day!

The breakfast servers were just lovely and attentive, the place felt welcoming, the food is great value, they have a good selection of teas, and the breakfast was fast and hot. Take a look at the pic!

This is a good, friendly restaurant. Prices are reasonable and service is good. My only issue is that the portion size tends to be on the smaller end of the scale from what you'd typically expect from a North American diner.

Decent food and very courteous service! Reasonable prices too. Parking is somewhat limited though, and not many options for parking nearby if the lot is full.

Good quality food with reasonable prices. They have good daily specials, I had Haddock dinner for $11.99, it was delicious.

Food was good and the wait staff was excellent. Both mine and my girl friends side fries and potato were cold. Waitress was very apologetic and did her best to make it right. Would defiantly would go back again thanks to our waitress

Somehow the kitchen staff managed to mess up every aspect of a simple breakfast. Eggs were overpowered by the taste of cooking oil. The toast was smothered in way too much butter to be even slightly bearable. The hash browns were burnt and the bacon was uncooked. Pathetic.

Good atmosphere and great staff. Most of the food is good although they made some strange changes in the last year or so.

1st & last experience - TERRIBLE

1.) Ordered 5 items from Uber Eats, they forgot to put in Chicken Fingers so only got 4 items including Pepsi.

2.) The kitchen staff who packed the items packed them as if he/she recently had a breakup, the packing was so messy. Just dumped the food in the bag.

3.) The food is soggy, tasteless & of very small portion be it - Onion rings, Poutine, Fish & Chips. NOT worth the price

4.) The kitchen staff forgot to follow the instructions about napkins, condiments etc. Are you guys even literate?

Always a reliable place to eat with good food. Can be busy at times but our group of 10 Wednesday morning breakfast arrived in less than 10 minutes and coffee cups were never empty. There are cheaper and more exspensive places for breakfast but for large groups, they got it covered.

I love coming here! The staff is always wonderful no matter how busy they can get they treat you right. The food is fresh and always a great price, if you haven't gone, it's a great family place, they do all day breakfast as well so try the pancakes!

Nice local diner/family restaurant. They used to have great milkshakes, but took them off the menu, which is too bad as I miss them!

Fast service, not many parking spots, decent prices for entrees. However, not the best quality for that price point. Good to visit at least once

They neglected to put the sour cream and salsa for my chicken quesadillas. This is the second this has happened to me. I pay good money just to have it delivered (Ubereats) and it arrived late, cold, and no sour cream and salsa.
