What a gem! Had a nice meal in November. Great location, atmosphere, food, drink and staff.

Overall a wonderful experience. I'd been waiting to eat here for two years, and was so excited to finally go. The Jerk chicken wing app was delicious, & I still dream of the sesame chili crisp broccolini! Service & atmosphere were great, with an incredible view. 4 stars for food was due to the sourdough app, and the truffle fries. The sourdough didn't taste like sourdough (none of that nice tang you get from it - it almost seemed like a premade frozen loaf), and the bread was quite dry. The aioli that came with the truffle fries was delicious, but the fries themselves weren't dredged in the Parm very well, so after the top layer was consumed it was just plain, unseasoned fries underneath. Given the price range, I just expected a bit more. Everything else was great, though!

Good restaurant with a splendid window view to a cliff across the water. The interior decor was lovely and perfect for a date night setting.

The lobster was finger licking good. I spent a good 30 min dissecting it and enjoyed every last bit of it.

Take note this is one of the more popular restaurants in the area, definitely recommend having a reservation for this place

Food was pretty tasty. Small menu but I’m sure everything is good. Our server was lovely, and the people who sat beside us were locals and very nice.
We had the burger (honest one of the best burgers we’ve ever had - with the parm fries) other than the fact that the my bun was a little burnt.and my bf had the butter chicken tikka masala which was very good! He was still hungry after the fact though. We started with the mussels, they were good quality but the broth was just “okay”. They also didn’t come with baguette or bread etc.and I’m always so confused when restaurants don’t include grilled bread of some sort with them - so that was a little disappointing! Either way, we would come back when we visit Cheticamp.

If there was a 4.5 that’s what I’d give it, truffle fries are a must here. Had the tenderloin was little undercooked but still good. 4.5

Really enjoyed the broccolini appetizer. Had the L'abri burger and the fish and chips.

Atmosphere is cozy in the evenings and feels like you are at home.

Magnifique lieu, plats frais et de qualité, mais la quantité de poissons dans la chaudrée et le fish and chips est très insuffisant pour un tel restaurant.

Mon copain et moi sommes très déçu de notre expérience. En voyant les avis, nous avions confiance de bien manger. Les saveurs et la qualité des aliments ne justifie aucunement les prix. Mon copain à pris le steak. Le 3/4 de l’assiette était remplie de frites. Aucun légumes. Les frites étaient blanches et sans goût, semblable à des frites congelées. Le steak manquait également de saveurs.

Toujours aussi délicieux. Cette fois nous avons pris pain et beurre fouetté, fish&chip, chaudrée aux fruits de mer et bol quinoa. Ambiance agréable, magnifique vue. À la prochaine!

I felt extremely deceived. I read all these wonderful reviews for this place and my partner and I go there, get a $175 dollar bill for pub food and bad service. Like incredibly bad service. This woman didn't want to be there nor did she want to do her job. In fact, she knew we were displeased with how she kept ducking us and when we got our bill, there was an extra drink on there. We realized after we paid and she gave the money back.
As for the food, the steak tasted like a Salisbury steak with instant potatoes. The Mediterranean burger was good. The food was also cold. The location was beautiful. However, it is not worth the prices posted.

Wow the best service ever! I have a cold and lost my voice and the server offered me lozenges brought back a plate with 3 of them, and then brought a glass of hot lemon water, she was so considerate. The food was also amazing, I loved the salmon, fish and chips were delicious, chowder was yummy (not a lot of seafood though), sister said Mediterranean burger was yummy and their bread with butter was so good with the green onions (I gotta do that at home). Would definitely come back when I come back to CB

Arrived excited to try L'Abri, mid-afternoon on a Friday after a 4hr drive to get there. The sole server with the 5 nose rings informed us that without a reservation, we couldn't possibly be seated. There were only two occupied tables but she told us that it would be full in the next half hour (more waitresses would be coming). After all, we obviously knew how popular it is because that is why we wanted to eat there. I guess it was my fault. We left feeling very insulted, declining to dignify the story by passing by later to see if they really were full, well before 5: 00pm.
I have no idea what the food is like.

The restaurant was absolutely beautiful, food was amazing, and the expresso martini was delicious. The older lady who worked there was quite rude to many of the customers including us. Luckily she wasn’t serving us, instead we had a young women from Eastern Passage in a green dress who was wonderful. She made sure our family had a good evening.

Service was terrible, starting with the extremely rude hostess. Rather try the Seafood Stop down the road. Great value for money and super friendly folks.

We had a wonderful time à l'abri. The food was delicious (the salmon was especially outstanding) and the view was to die for. Definitely our most memorable dining out experience in a week spent on Cape Breton.

We were served by 4 different people, the food was mediocre and over priced for the fact that it wasn't very good, and the girl who took our money looked like a teenager that was just grounded. It was our anniversary and this was the worst part of our day!

L'abri is incredible! My husband and I stopped in for a quite bite before a whale tour, and the staff were able to seat us at the bar. Their food was amazing, and we would definitely go back if we have the chance.

My dish nor my mothers meal was fully cooked, we were both ill afterwards. Our server wasn't friendly - overall a negative experience for us.

Yum yum yum! We loved all the dishes we had at l’abri. The pavlova was lovely.

It's a lovely setting and nice interior no doubt. That is the best part.

The fish butty was great and I liked the potatoes chips.

The big issue I had was with the tiny portions given the price. The seafood chowder was a bowl only half filled and there was hardly any seafood in it. Mainly broth. Thr server told us that was the normal serving size. For the price it was just way too small.

The people beside us got the lobster roll and we couldn't help but notice that very small size of the lobster roll. It was shocking how tiny it was given the $32 price tag. Look, I understand that everything is expensive these days but this is taking it to a whole other level in my opinion. I just find in really cheap

Tasty food; the salmon and the squid were my favourites. The only qualm I had was that the burger and lobster roll buns tasted like cheap buns from the grocery store. Awesome view at sunset though.

A stylish restaurant with exceptionally stylish appetizers and main dishes. It closed at 9 pm but make sure you make reservations in advance to secure a table. If you arrive late with no reservation, there's few other restaurants open after 8 pm.

I had high expectations of this place but I’m truly disappointed. I got a Cesar salad that had no sauce and the lettuce was turning brown. The smash burger that basically had big mac sauce and pickles…. Nothing special. I doubt we will ever go back. Also there’s very little to choose from for ppl who can’t eat fish or seafood. It’s too bad we ended our last night eating here.

One of the most memorable meals of my Cabot Trail adventure! L'Abri is beautifully located along the coast, with views of the ocean. The food is superb and delicately plated. Don't forget to try the carrot cake - one of the best I've ever had!

Went here on a recommendation food was basic and service was lacking! Certainly not on par with the other reviews! Don't go if your expecting dinner! Left disappointed!

We ate here two nights in a row in early May because nothing else was open. With that said, I doubt there is better food in the area. With two nights and four adults we tried almost half the menu. Everything was great! I only took one photo‍️ Some favorites were the steak, smash burger and the carrot cake. You have to get the carrot cake.

Food was excellent. Curry rice was incredible. Fish and chips were delicious. Service was excellent. View from patio amazing! Would highly recommend!

My wife and I are visiting from Massachusetts, USA. The locals told us about this place and we had food that we never had before. Wicked good beer and wine too.

This charming restaurant is the perfect stop on the Cabot Trail. The food is excellent - fresh and well-made, with lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options. I struggled all week in the area to find food I could eat (and enjoy), and now I wish we had come here first and every day!

Terrific place to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Cheticamp. We like to dine late and L'abri is pretty much the only place that's not a pizzeria with a kitchen open til 11pm on weeknights! The staff are friendly, the ambience is inviting, and the food is top notch, some of the best on this side of the island.

New spot from what we were told. One section of the restaurant where we were seated was not really comfortable. I was to the point of almost leaving because of how hot and sweaty I was. Hopefully they invest in another AC unit

I ordered the fish and chips to see how it compares and it was mediocre. Batter was a bit thick and over done. Fish was fresh which saved the plate and the fries were good but not memorable.

Absolutely amazing, everything on the menu looks delicious. Got the seafood chowder and a cinnamon roll - it was awesome.

We expected a nice little evening out at the restaurant but we were disappointed. First we couldn’t make a reservation. Secondly the service by one of the lady waitress was incredibly rude and it spoiled our evening. The male waiter was nice tough. Finally the wait was long and the menu offered few choices but the food was ok for the price.

No idea about the food as we didn't manage to get any, but if they tell you that there are 4 tables ahead of you, there might as well be 40. Understaffed for the demand. Staff are not efficient and way overoptimistic regarding waiting times for tables (and waiting times for food). Cute backyard where you are allowed to drink, though.

This is one of the best restaurants in all of Cape Breton, or possibly THE best! Food was fantastic and would even do well in a major city anywhere in Canada or the US. Service was incredible and our waitress was so kind. She was happy to answer my older aunts and my questions on anything from the restaurant, to local culture. We found out the owners are young people who went out and learned the restaurant and art trade then came back home to open this gem. Even the decor is fun and well thought out. There didn’t seem to be a dress code and the temperature was comfortable. Will be going back ASAP!

We are traveling around Cape Breton this week and stopped in for dinner; we sat at the bar and stayed for hours. This restaurant was the perfect spot- from the location of the restaurant (right on the water with gorgeous sunset view), to the atmosphere (adorably decorated interior), to the service (the bar tender was prompt, knowledgeable, and very friendly), to the drink list (Big Spruce on tap & handcrafted and expertly mixed cocktails), to ultimately the Food (delicious! We ate every bite of the PEI Mussles, lobster dinner with brussel sprouts, and lobster roll) - it’s all highly recommended.

I loved everything about this place. Food was great, atmosphere/music was great and the waitress was one of the best I have ever had. The building is very cool also with a fireplace lit nightly and and nice outdoor area overlooking the ocean

We enjoyed the view of the bay, the bright setting inside, and the delicious food. Since this restaurant is new we could understand why they took about 45 minutes to serve us on a busy Saturday evening. We would have enjoyed having our appetizer served before the entree. We also suggest they serve some bread as soon as people sit down. We would go back because the food was worthwhile and the place itself with a very pleasant.

Great menu, food, service, ambience. Popular restaurant and bar which opened in Apr19. Conveniently open later than most restaurants in town, particularly after completing the Skyline trail. Highly recommend.

You should stop here, you'll see why. The view is outstanding, the service was excellent, and the food was awesome. Ordered mussels and lobster roll, both were fantastic. I think this place has a lot of hard work going into it, and it's going to keep getting better. Get a spot outside while you can!

Good food, great fish and chips. Nice decor and pleasant service. It is also good that they are open for dinner a little later, even on a Sunday, than many other places in town. If something could be improved it would be the speed of service, although good things are worth waiting for.

Omg soo good! I had the breakfast sandwich with potatoes (pic shows only the remenants, lol) and my BF had the chicken ceasar salad (he said extra $6 for 3 nuggets of chicken was excessive, but the salad was good, had bacon). The drinks were yummy and the room was nice.

Delicious food, amazing staff and great atmosphere. There wasn’t a bite left on anyone’s plate. Only wish we had time to eat here again!

Delicious! We ordered mussels, truffle fries, fish tacos, a juicy well done burger, brussel sprouts, tomato soup and my bestie got the seafood chowder. Everything was so delightful. I wanted more brussel sprouts as they are cooked crispy, as if they were made in a cast iron. I couldn't believe how juicy and tasty the burger was. I usually don't order well done because in it's usually dry but they did a stellar job. Tomato soup was yummy. We went back the next morning and got the honey donut, lemon meringue cookie and chocolate covered peanut butter ball and every bakery item was too sweet with too much sugar. I'd have gone back if they cut the sugar around 75 percent. Dinner was fantastic.note that this place is higher in price than the surrounding restaurants but it's on the upscale side.

Probably the best place I've eaten in so long. Their breakfast sandwich is a must have. You will regret not visiting this place! The restaurant looks really great and the food is on point I've really enjoyed the visit.

Amazing views, service was prompt and very friendly. The waitress did a little Gaelic dance. Food was delicious. Solid bar options. Beautiful jazz was flowing from the speakers. Had the curry. Would return! Might go back for breakfast even.

An awesome stop before visiting Cabot Trail. They have a beautiful view in the back. The menu had many choices, we tried fish and chips and truffles chips. Both were good though a bit overpriced. Their cappuccino and latte was delicious. I would recommend a visit just for the latte.

Super Lobster roll, je crois bien que je vais refaire le chemin. Je vais m'ennuyer des beignes (cronut?) aussi. Délicieux!
