Very basic, but clean, modern and very cheap. Breakfast is not available. You will need a car.

Registered by nice fellow, George who was quite helpful. Rooms were clean with new laminate flooring, table & chairs, fridge & microwave. The dresser, headboards & desk were all in matching blond oak. We did miss a blow dryer & coffee pot, but this place is close to everything. Quick walk down to Tim Hortons in the morning solved the coffee fix. I would definately stay here again.

Very disappointing experience
Rooms very dusty. No security chain on door. Looks like there was one at one time. Bath tub was gross. The baseboards could use a coat of paint. We stayed in different motels all over the province during our trip and they were all great for similar prices.
Would definitely not recommend. My son's room was even worse

Perfect stay for a night as a solo traveler. Nice and helpful staff, the room was clean, the full structure is monitored by cameras, even the parking. No smoking in front of the rooms. Laundry room is accessible for guests from 8 to 6 (washing machine and drier operating with 2$ coins).

The location of the motel is at the center. It is facing different businesses ranging from restaurant, bank, coffee cafe, Lawton pharmacy, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dollarama stores, and many more. There are bus stops around.

We had stayed one night (August 25,2023) at Lake City Motel and the room smelled of cigarettes. The guy next to our room was smoking inside the room. Our room was #10. It had mold! The floors were cracked. Room smelled so bad! Broken light on the ceiling, fan and tv didn’t worked, and the toilet was leaking on the floor which we had to use a towel as our floor mat. Staff were not helpful when we called to report the issues. $109 before taxes (Aug 25,2023 stay). Illegal business was happening outside our doors at 1 a.m. With no owners or security around. Holes in blankets from cigarette burn. Door didn’t locked properly. Be careful do not book here. What a scary dive of a place! I have reported the issue to Halifax Tourism and the Halifax health and safety dept.

Very poor, room smelled like a smoke though non smoking room, blankets have holes, the door is soooo hard to open, it's not recommended to stay in room #9, in case of emergency, you'll be dead, staff is not approachable, though I left tip for the people will clean the room.

I called this place 3 weeks ago to ask if they would rent to my boyfriend who is attending NSCC for trade school from Sept-Nov and I was wondering if they’d rent to him on a week basis since he has to relocate 3 hours away from our home. The lady on the phone was very nice and said yes no problem. I said I wanted to come up in a few weeks and we could discuss it. She was very pleasant and gave me a rough price. After 3 hour drive we showed up to this very rude lady to tell me they don’t rent weekly or monthly and no one would have told us that (despite what their website says & what the lady on the phone told me). She was not helpful in the least. Not to mention the place is an absolute dive! I don’t think you should be turning away 8 week guaranteed occupancy considering the state of the place. What a waste of a 3 hour drive.

I had read good and bad reviews about Lake City. I like to see for myself. You don't even have to believe my review, but I recommend.

Room smelled smoke for a non-smoking room. Linens smelled smoke. My 5 year old son, hubby and myself didn’t get a good rest.
The upholstery of 2 chairs really need to get a thorough clean.
Fridge’ shelves doesn’t exist.
Deposit is required and it was twice the amount of a one night stay. What are you going to steal or break in that room since everything is falling apart.
Very nasty accommodations.

Not the greatest place in the world, but it's not trying to be. My buddies and I graduated high school last year and stayed at Lake City Motel for a week. No parents. Just four guys, a car, and a week to ourselves in beautiful Nova Scotia! Totally worth it.

The pictures are nothing like the real look of this place. The government pays them to house homeless people and so the place is completely run down. I mentioned this on our last visit and the "clerk" behind the desk was very coy about the situation there and would not admit they were indeed "homeless". After repeated complaints, he finally admitted that is indeed the situation there. There is noise at all hours of the night, banging on the wall next door which woke me out of a sound sleep. We were afraid of our vehicle being vandalized with the amound of these people milling around in ther parking lot at all hours of the night smoking and arguing back & forth. It's astonishing how greed can completely overtake the satisfaction of running a good business. We will not be back.

Stay clear of this place!

I've read some bad reviews on this Motel & after staying there for 2 nights, I totally disagree.this place was amazing. 1st off.this place is an amazing value in today's economy.the room we stayed in was clean.the location is central to everything & anywhere you need to go.or shop.when we got there we had an issue with heat.only because we couldn't figure out the controls on the heat exchanger.the girl came right away & after we left, my girlfriend had forgot something & we remembered a few hours later. & again.it was no problem.we got our things.this place is top notch & I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants good quality service at value prices

Loud, can hear everything in the adjacent room, no nothing to make a morning coffee, good if you tired and just want to crash
