Le Rouge - Bold Grill & Cocktails

Muscles although small were done in a beautiful sauce which was the best. Ordered a lobster club. The lobster was obviously previously frozen, as it was mushy and tasteless, extremely disappointed. Gave the bacon to my husband. Took the cheese off. Ceasar drinks were nice but had way too much ice and the second one did not taste like first. Coffee was very good. Ceasar salad was very good. I don’t feel I would go back again.

Don’t believe the hype about Le Rouge… if there’s any.
Supper for three came to $177 including tip.
Meal 1 - Ordered $39 7 oz Chipotle steak (Medium) with loaded baked potatoe and veggies.
The steak was smaller than a deck of cards and was grey and tough. Pad of hard chipotle butter on it. The loaded baked potato was barely warm and had nearly no toppings to mention. The veggies were undercooked carrots and soggy bok choy. The steak was well done, tough to cut and chew, but somewhat flavourful. The potato was cool in the middle and very dry with an outer skin that couldn’t be eaten ($3 upcharge)
Meal 2 - Ordered the $44 NY Striploin (med rare) $15 lobster tail and mashed potatoes/veggies. $14 Whisky business 2oz beverage.
Meal presented well on the plate.
The steak was properly cooked but still tough to chew. The lobster tail was plastic-like and overcooked as well; very disappointing. The mashed potatoes were the best part of this meal. Whisky business was as expected; decent for $14.
Meal 3 - $19 Winter salad added $6 chicken. First ingredient was Quinoa which there was none. The rest of the salad (lettuce, kale, pecans, bacon etc) was as expected.

The waitress only came around to check on food quality only 10-15 mins after it was served. When we were asked about meal, I expressed our disappointment. She offered loaded mashed potatoes as a substitute for the cold baked potatoe. We declined the offer.
We received our bill (added the 15% $23 tip) and left hungry, frustrated and underwhelmed. Proceeded directly to Five Guys Bayers Lake for a burger, fries and strawberry shake… delicious!

What can I say? Textbook.

I have been to Le Rouge a few times but this was my first time for lunch and I couldn't have been more impressed. I ordered the chicken clubhouse and lets just say that my expectations were extremely high and somehow, someway it exceeded them with ease. The best chicken clubhouse I have ever had the pleasure of eating in my 27 years. The icing on the cake was when I learned that the bread was baked in house, unreal right?

The service was top notch as per usual. I was given another Diet Coke upon finishing my first one almost instantly. This put the biggest smile on my face and made my entire day. Our server showed true compassion which is tough to find these days, but not at Le Rouge.

Overall, it was an absolutely life changing experience and I will definitely be back. I love Le Rouge and I feel loved when I step into the establishment.

Food excellent lovely atmosphere. BUT our writer's attitude was hurry up and get out. 4 (older ladies) in my party and our whole time there would not be an hour. Not my idea of a $100 quiet lunch.no "encouragement" by
waiter to have coffee/tea or dessert. Very dismissive even tho the whole place was at best 1/3 full.

Best restaurant in Halifax. Food is amazing staff is great. Cowboy steak was unreal. Sirloin was spot on. From apps to desserts all was 10/10

My boyfriend and I went for some cocktails wine and apps this evening, the service, food, and ambience were amazing. The server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and was very patient with us, as we asked a lot of questions about the oysters and the appetizers. We never felt rushed and the food and drinks were amazing! Thank you so much for the excellent experience! Would definitely recommend and go back!

Recently I had dinner here and it was pretty good. My only complaint is that my fork was very small and I felt like a child eating my steak.

The food is usually good here, but not very consistent. The prime rib was not good, but everything else I've eaten has been some level of good to great. I've eaten 4 or 5 burgers here, one was amazing, and the others were all fine, but nothing too great. The fries and Caesar salad are both great sides. The highlight of all the food I've eaten here has been the Asian nachos. They're excellent. I find the service here is sometimes great, but other times lacking pretty badly. I got the tuna tartare cones once, and they were swimming in so much sauce that I couldn't taste anything other than a really salty sauce. I brought this to my server's attention and she just said "okay" with no offer to bring another or take it away or anything. $17 is a lot to pay for an app that wasn't enjoyable and that you didn't finish eating. I've also had servers drop food and never come back for a quality check and to see if I need anything else, and I've had servers not offer and not bring any starter bread, and then I see it going to other tables. I asked my server how come none was offered to me, and she just told me she forgot. No offer of any actual apology. When restaurants drop the ball or "forget" part of your meal they should own up to it somehow. The place is nicely designed, and not a cheap restaurant, so my expectations are a little higher than sometimes this place lives up to. When the service is good and the food is good, it's worth every penny, but this isn't always the case. I have eaten here 6 or 7 times, and had great service 3 or 4 times, and less than stellar service the other 2 or 3 times. I'll keep going back because it is close to home for me (and I don't always feel like driving downtown for good food), with hopes to see improvement in consistently doing well at service and food. I'll update this review if they start consistently stepping up their game, but it's hard to give more than three stars for food that isn't always great. The pasta vodka was pretty underwhelming also.

The tomato sauce was awful but the meat and mashed potatoes were great. It was definetly fancy though and fit for adults.

An interesting place with unique, bold decorations. The food is delicious if a bit too slow but it’s a nice enough location you don’t mind waiting. Staff are friendly but can disappear from time to time. I had the la rouge burger and it was one of the best I’ve had.

Disappointing place. Overpriced, we waited 30 minutes to wait to order drinks. The drink order came and it was wrong. Had to flag someone down to help fix it and we were told it was our fault. Another 30 minutes to order our mains. Our mains came 45 minutes later and even the order was wrong for 3/8 of us again.

It was a frustrating birthday experience for my friend who booked it. We had no service and no one checked in with us. I would not recommend. I have heard several of my friends report similar problems. The cherry on top was the mandatory 18% tip for terrible service, wrong orders, and wait time. The amount of 5 star reviews I see is truly concerning.

Second time visiting this restaurant and it was just as amazing as the first. The customer service was amazing and the food was as well. Definitely won't be our last time visiting this establishment, it's a personal favorite!

Le Rouge is an excellent restaurant. Fine dining in a casual atmosphere. The food (appetizers and mains) we ordered were excellent and delivered in a very timely fashion. Julianna (hopefully spelt correctly) is an exceptional server checking on our dining needs from time to time (granting dining freedom), very helpful with our menu question explanations and recommendations along with being very pleasant.

Le Rouge is highly recommended.

What a wonderful dining experience! Food was amazing, staff was on point with checking in and offering suggestions on drink and entrees. Spectacular decor and atmosphere. Would recommend 100% Adel our server went above and beyond and was superb. As you can see in the pictures the whole staff made our 30th wedding anniversary a night to remember.

Had supper here yesterday evening. I was pleasantly surprised with the New York strip loin I had. The cut was thick and tender, and the seasoning spice was excellent and not overpowering. The desert option was great, it was small, but full of flavour and I left feeling very comfortable. We were served by Will who did a great job keeping our glasses full and needs met, I actually didn’t have to ask him for anything because I’m fairly certain he read my mind…If you’re considering this restaurant for dinner, you will not be disappointed.

This is my favourite restaurant in Halifax. Excellent cuisine. Excellent service. I highly recommend this place.

I ordered a sirloin steak meal, and I have to say it was the best tasting and best cooked steak I've had in a long time in many HRM restaurants. It was cut evenly and cooked to perfection. Le Rouge's steak is head and shoulders above all others.

My wife had a chicken dish, and she liked it very much.

Customer service A+ … not only from our server but from other members of staff. This happened from we entered the restaurant until we left (literally … No exaggeration).

I had the garlic shrimp to start and the Le Rouge burger. My food was VERY tasty, I enjoyed every bite.

To top it off, I cannot stop raving about my drink. My classic margarita was SPLENDID.

Thank you for an exceptional evening. We will definitely be back.
