Lee Valley

Very helpful & knowledgeable staff. The soy-based paint stripper wasn't in that I need; however, after searching for 3 years for a screwdriver that the bits don't fall out of or require extensive pushing to get a bit out, found one at Lee Valley. This place rocks!

Today, I had a rollercoaster of an experience at a store in Halifax—initially very negative, then positive, followed by a frustrating moment, and ending on a high note. Upon entering the store, a lady asked what I needed. I told her I was looking for a carving knife. She seemed impatient and gestured for me to look around the store, which was full of knives. I decided to explore on my own, which seemed to irritate her as she was focused on her computer. When I specified that I was looking for a knife from a particular brand that came in a set of two, she told me they were out of stock. Her demeanor was so off-putting that I felt better browsing the store myself.

Then, in a somewhat scolding tone, she said a more experienced gentleman would assist me. I believe his name was Jay, and he was incredibly kind. He encouraged us to handle the tools to see which felt most comfortable in our hands, and I ended up buying much more than I had planned. When it was time for lunch, another lady said she would assist us. I realized I had forgotten some items and told her we would also be going for lunch and would return when Jay was back. She seemed so annoyed, and my husband felt so uncomfortable with her attitude, that he suggested we just pay and leave. I did so, trying to ignore her displeased expressions.

Finally, we had lunch and Jay returned and once again provided excellent service, patiently explaining the pros and cons of each option. We ended up making several more purchases. I don't know if both ladies were just having a bad day, but they made me feel so uncomfortable that I left with the impression that I never wanted to return to the store just to avoid encountering them. As for Jay, I asked if I could add a tip to the bill, and he said no, it was against the company rules. I really wish I could have rewarded him. He seems like a star employee, and I hope the company values him as he deserves.

Much of the focus has been diverted from wood craft to expensive gadget sales. The feeling is now very corporate. It no longer has the feeling of the small family business it was. It's no more than any average store. Staff are still friendly.

I can find things here I often can't find elsewhere. Today, it was a profile gauge.

There are fun, unique, little things you can buy here that are quite inexpensive- for the items you pay more for, the quality is always worth it.

The only bad thing about Lee Valley is trying to leave *only* with what you went for- there are too many tempting, neat things!

Customer service has really deteriorated. The worst part is, I don't even think they'll miss my customer loyalty. I don't even think they know I'm gone.

Extremely kind staff, came as non customers looking to shelter an injured bird until wildlife volunteers could arrive and the staff could not have been more welcoming

Been a customer for 26 years. Poor experience this month. Ordered three light weight items dec 9,2022 to be shipped 60 miles away and never received a confirmation for three days and never received item till 10 days later. I ordered items from California on the same day and got them in a week. Not impressed. Definitely gone down hill.

The people working there are really helpful. Great services. Their system to buy items is a bit much. Great place to find useful tools of all kind and gift.

Excellent store with some of the best selection of Festool tools at fair price. Also great customer service. Website is also fantastic.

Always something to find, whether you be a master carpenter, a journeyman, and apprentice, or just a skilled or learning crafter or hobbiest. Great items, great staff, great inspirations. And a quality you can depend on
