Long Alley Bicycles

LAB is my favourite bike shop in Halifax. Paul and the staff are super knowledgeable and attentive and don’t talk down to you, and the service team are great at what they do.

This place scammed my wife into buying a generic Canadian Tire bike refurbished well above the cost of what a new bike of that brand costs. On top of that broke before it got 1 km on it. Very predatory, I wouldn't trust them.

I’ve had some many positive experiences with Long Alley that I can’t recommend them enough.

Each time I was there, they took the time to explain what was happening without rushing me and fixed my bikes very quickly! I really appreciate their knowledge and patience.

I purchased an e-bike conversion kit and they suggested that I take it to Long Alley Bikes to have it installed. I always use to go to Cyclesmith on Agricola, who have been great but I thought I would try out Long Alley. From the moment I walked in, I've received nothing less than VIP service. Paul at Long Alley Bikes explained what they were going to do, gave me an estimate and completed the work faster than I expected and for far less than I know I would have paid at other bike shops. I dropped in a few days later and had to replace one of my tires and tubes and Paul helped me out again, this time changing my tire and recommending what turned out to be an amazing ebike tire. I highly recommend Long Alley Bikes for service, price, knowledge and friendliness!

I arrived minutes before close in desperate need of a tire repair and they did not give me a hard time and made sure my bike was well taken care of. Friendly staff, can't recommend enough.

Long Alley for life! The staff there from the mechanics, to sales staff are always incredibly friendly and happy to see you even if the store is front to back packed. I didn't catch the gentlemen's name who had helped us both times we were in but, he remembered us the minute we walked in the door, and he is a spark of joy I haven't seen in a retail store in a long time. If you see this, you're the man! Updates when our bikes are back in hand.

I recently took my mountain bike in for a tune-up in order to sell it. Not knowing much about bikes, I trusted the staff to address all items included in their tune-up description.

If the bike was cleaned, then it was just a quick spray down and not the job I was expecting as there was still mud in the corners of the frame. But that's my own fault for not clarifying the level of detail beforehand. That being said, the wheels were not trued and the brakes were not deglazed which was only brought to my attention by the person looking to buy it, and brought down the sale value.

The staff were friendly and helpful in person, but unfortunately the service wasn't what I expected. Unfortunately I don't have photos as the bike was sold.

Brought a wheel to be be built. In hindsight, they put the wheel together which was the end goal. Great. My only qualm was zero break down of what was all done in the end. No invoice, no overview of all that was done from the technician or store rep. My previous spokes were also cut and rendered useless to "save time". I wasn't going to use them myself but what if I was somebody that wanted to use them? They did offer to give me new ones to replace those which was a nice gesture. I appreciate the fact that they were willing to do whatever it was to remedy the issues. Overall I just feel like if they were trying to "save time" then I will bring my further bike/wheel builds somewhere else where there isn't a rush to get a job done.

Friendliest coolest wonderfullest bike shop in Halifax.

The people at this shop are so wonderful and kind. I have a long convoluted bike theft story and I was so big-time confused while I grieved my old bike that they were so kind about listening to me and advising me about fixing up the other bikes friends gave me or which bikes in the shop I could buy. Eventually I bought a new bike rack and am getting two old bikes fixed up there, but if I decide to trade them in or buy new bike stuff or do anything else bikey, I'll definitely be coming here. I feel like they've explained all the options with my best interests in mind and these are the kind of people that make the world a better place.

The shop is absolutely beautiful too. Go in and buy a bell or a helmet or something just to see the gear chandelier and the super-awesome bike art on the windows and above the mantel/cash register. Or a bike! They have lots of cool bikes, new ones and used ones, for sale.

These guys definitely know their stuff. They're very knowledgeable and give amazing pricing options. The work is really good and I love how independent they are

Great service from these folk! I needed some urgent work done before heading overseas, and they dropped everything and jumped on it. Great people to chat to too!
