We came for the vegan breakfast options. The tofu skillet was fantastic. We got gluten free bread with it which was tasty and crunchy. Since the home fries have gluten the server recommended we substitute potato Pattie’s and those were excellent too. They were similar to hash browns but not as greasy. The VLT was delicious as well. The highlight is the vegan bacon from Real Fake Meats. Possibly my favourite vegan bacon.

Very cozy, locally authentic. We were looking for locally owned and operated cuisine and found it here. Great brunch!

I'm always looking for where the locals eat.found the perfect spot for breakfast right here. Excellent food. Very reasonable prices. It's not a fancy place but the staff are fantastic and care about their customers. Highly recommended and will definitely be here again on my next trip to the city.

This place is fantastic! Reasonably priced, lots of gluten free options and the service is quick! The coffee is also pretty good. It can get busy but it is worth the wait. Their home fries do have a coating on them and they are really good but I don't think they're gluten free. I do recommend the champ. Their hollandaise sauce is a bit sweeter than I like it

We love Mary's! Kelly is always so so welcoming and treats everyone like family. The food and service are both great.
Every time we are in that area, we stop in for a meal.

Stopped in with some family. 3 of us had breakfast. One had the Greek wrap. Food was very good. And ample serving. Atmosphere was fantastic. They had a bit of an issue with their pos, and our orders got misplaced. They realized this, apologized and had our meals to us in no time. The owner was out chatting with us and it felt like breakfast at home. Will definitely be making return visits while in the city.

Mary's Place is a great breakfast/brunch spot with classic brunch foods. The service is great - we always have funny little dialogue that makes me and my guests feel like part of the family! They have wonderful vegetarian and vegan/gluten free options. I highly recommend adding the garlic sauce to your home fries!

Loved their food, had to wait a while but the wait was definitely worth it. I ordered the eggs Benedict, the portion was perfect and it tasted really good, the hash was fried to perfection

It’s always nice to find a place that knows what they’re doing when it comes to gluten free options. I was initially a little disheartened that the French toast and pancakes cannot be made GF, but I was assured of the options that would be safe for me as a coeliac. I went for the healthy choice breakfast with beans a GF toast. It was JUST what I needed.
The café was fairly busy when I arrived, and I was left waiting a little while for my order to be taken fully - but the folks who work here were lovely, offered an apology and checked up on me when they could.
I’d happily come back!

Amazing staff!
Our group had two very young children, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. The food was just as impressive, with many options for all types of dietary needs!

The best kind of traditional greasy spoon breakfast joint. If you don’t like frou-frou trendy breakfast restaurants, you will love this place. The garlic home fries are amazing. Prices are very reasonable, and the waiters are generous with the coffee top-ups.

Wholesome food, feels like home. Very welcoming staff. The building may look old, but makes up in charm!

This place has the best eggs Benny that I’ve had in years. My niece was obsessed with their breakfast sausages. We ate here twice in two days, had to get another Benny in before heading to PEI! Definitely recommend. Staff are very friendly and food is excellent.

Friendly staff/great atmosphere/great food. Had the Eggs Benedict and coffee, both were great with bottomless coffee with the meal. This place definitely deserves more attention then it gets.

Whoever made our breakfast did it with love.
I am German and my wife Tunisian. We are very hard to please. The coffee right after being seated was "sehr lecker". Followed by a very tasty breakfast poutine and veggie omelette. And 2 pancakes as a side dish. We didn't know hash browns could be so delicious. Thanks guys, we'll definitely be back. Including tax and tips we walk out under 42 bucks and skipped lunch that day

Went for lunch with a friend today, owner and staff were lovely.
The owner overheard my friend explaining how much they disliked tomatoes, specifically cutting them. We got into a brief conversation with her, and after she cleared the nearby tables she came back.
She brought over a tomato, a plate, and a knife and diced it in front of us while explaining her technique to my friend. The food was very reasonably priced, and entertainment was free of charge.

The food was very good and the service was fast and friendly, but I found it a bit pricy. A coffee cost 3.50 and a side order of toast (2 pieces) cost 3.25! You could buy more than a whole loaf of bread for that!

Loved this hidden breakfast spot. Reasonably priced and lots of fun options. I got the breakfast burrito which was very tasty and my friend got the big breakfast with a side pancake. Great food and welcoming friendly service.

Mary's has a lot of great menu options. I decided to try the Florentine and I was not disappointed. Their hollandaise sauce is amazing! I will definitely becoming back to try more options. The service here is great, highly recommend.

Great little cafe in Halifax. So thankful they had gluten free pancakes. Super busy but the waitress was quick, friendly and efficient. Much thanks for starting my vacation so nicely. Will be certain to return on my next visit.
