Friday the 20th. It says online that they are open. Drive from Halifax and the sign on the door says they are open but they are very closed.

Not very happy with the menu and price for what you get, we ordered haddock burger and the smoke chicken club, which online come with a salad and potato wedges. Which are both $18.00. THEN in the actual restaurant they haven’t changed the price but have taken away the sides, but you can add them for an additional price. This is highway robbery. NOT right at all.

If you’re still reading, the food was actually really good and the service was amazing. Won’t go there again due to the above mentioned comments.

Was very excited to try out this resturuant. Unfortunately the food was poor and service very unfriendly. Wrote a private message to them but no response. I hope it was just a bad evening as it is a lovely location and does have good reviews!

A solid menu with a good selection of seafood, haddock, chowder &, wait for it, PAELLA. Also lamb and beef. Good salad selections too. I approve of the whole menu. Great selection of craft beer and creative cocktails. All this and great staff too!

Delicious food and excellent service. We were treated so kindly by staff when we showed up with our two small and very hungry kids. Coffee was excellent. Patio was a lovely space to enjoy brunch.

Nice home like setup, kind staff, good food variety different than the usual every day. Owner was nice he came out and talked to us when he heard we were asking about the babba ghannouj dip! Reasonable pricing. We will go again

Food was really mediocre at best. Portions were small, bland, and uninspired. We only came here because oh my cod was closed. Service was great.

We had a great lunch at the Mateus Bistro in Mahone Bay! Our server, Erin, was fantastic. She was friendly, nice and provided us great service. The food was excellent! Everything was delicious. I highly recommend this place!

Enjoyed a nice October afternoon on the patio with local craft beers, chowder, brisket sandwich and a chicken club for lunch. Now in the dead of January and in the middle of another lockdown in Ontario, I dream of easier days like this.

Loved our breakfast immensely. The hollandaise was delicious as was my Greek omelet. The French coffee was an unexpected treat that we relished.

Great service, generous portions, VERY tasty food. Plenty of meat and vegetarian options.

Sub par food, over the top prices. Went there for valentine's day and got hosed. Felt like a used car salesmen swindled me.

The food was excellent. The ambience was perfect: the overhead canopy illuminated by strings of lights, the decorations all worked together to create a casual yet intimate setting. The live band was really good. They even accommodated me by letting me transform a bourbon old fashioned into a brandy old fashioned sweet which was delicious.

Great service, delicious food, clean premises. This was a delightful experience for both lunch and dinner. The chowder is yummmy, so is the rest of the menu.

The food here was absolutely delicious. They had a Thanksgiving turkey/Jiggs Dinner that surpassed our expectations. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend this place.

Would have loved to have experienced and reviewed but wasn't to be.planned a nice night for my husband's birthday, booked reservation 2 weeks in advance as we were coming to stay in Mahone Bay especially for his birthday. Got a call from Matt before our reservation, him saying there was a problem with the stove, and he didn't know of he could get a technician to fix it in time for our reservation. Gave him one star for that but we called twice, on two separate days, asking for an update to see if we needed to make alternate plans and no response, not cool and very non Nova Scotian as far as service/hospitality. As well it just so happened to land on the new federal holiday, a coincidence that the "stove wasn't working "? We stopped by and knocked on the door at 4pm when they opened, pur reservation was for 5pm. Again no recourse as Matt wouldn't return our call. When I mentioned their stove having an issue they looked at me like I had 2 heads, as I assumed it was BS. There was no other restaurant in town open other than Ricardo's Pizza but kudos to them, I will be giving them 5 stars for great food, service and hospitality! I feel like Matt panicked when the new holiday came about but instead of being upfront about it there was stories about a stove that didn't work. Instead of telling us upfront, he decided to be fishy and wouldn't just come clean that he wanted to close. I would have been disappointed but by not communicating and leaving us on the lurch during a holiday inwhich there was literally no other restaurants open was just horrible in my opinion. I know being a tourist town you don't need to cater to people but that doesn't mean you should be down right rude and screw people over. Just so not right any very un Nova Scotian, extremely disappointed.

The food and service were excellent. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for great meal in a lovely atmosphere. Not a fast food joint.

Excellent food; some of the best seafood chowder I've ever had. Reasonable prices, great service!

I would pass on this place, and find somewhere else where you get your moneys worth, both in food and service. Geared for the tourists who come through there, locals probably know better.

Service was slow, with four servers on, with not that many tables to service. The plate that our sons food came on was chipped. A restaurant that serves food should never serve it on chipped dinnerware. We had to ask for our water to be refilled, when we sat by the door where the servers constantly come out of. We had our food so we were done being serviced I guess.

Had a club sandwich which was very good, but came with only 4 wedges (about half a potato} on the plate seems a little too rationed, when the avg price of a potato is about. 10cents. Salads on my partners plate was not fresh. It came with one cherry tomato and one cucumber slice cut on half. (again rationing?) I also had a side of shredded cabage and carrot, being passed off aa colslaw. They must have run out of the mayo and vinegar to complete the recipe. Irs definitely overpriced for the portions.

The restaurant is close to the water, but you feel like you are on a boat, because the deck was moving with every footstep.

Facts can be so misleading, but reviews, true or false, are often revealing.

The food was good, however, we found that there was a very limited menu selection, and it's a bit over priced, I don't plan on going back.

Lunched on the patio, fish chowder was as advertised "the worlds best"
house smoked chicken sandwiches, fresh, really fresh salads and Ann's' cake; so delicious! The service was excellent in every aspect, including friendly. When travelling in the area this is the one place you gotta eat!

Loved this place. We had the burger and the haddock. Both excellent. Great service, on site parking, lovely atmosphere. All dishes are prepared from scratch. Solid 5 stars.

AMAZING! Super cute decor, lovely outdoor seating. We had appies and drinks, Lobster dip delish! Breadsticks with cheese dip delish, salad delish, seafood chowder.delish!

Service was very slow for a place that was empty inside only serving people on the patio. Our meal came on plates that were chipped and broken, and not little chips either, large enough I was worried my son would cut himself. My husband had the chicken club and 3, yes 3, potatoe wedges and dry coleslaw. I had eggs benny which was Ok but it came with salad which was lettuce with 1 cherry tomato and 1 slice of cucumber, salad itself was not fresh, something that should have gone in the garbage the day prior. Needless to say this was not at all a good experience, over priced, terrible service, and very basic food with no taste!

There food is excellent. The attention to detail, and presentation of the food was fantastic. Plan to go back here as many times as I can.

Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is awesome for informal dining.
Quite often live music on the patio as well.

The fish cakes had too much potatoes in it, but tasted good. Salad was great. Overall a good meal and great service. I liked that a couple could bring their dog to the patio. Very considered of the restaurant.
