I didn't stay overnight at the campsite, I just stopped there to hike in the surrounding area. Simple campsite, but in a fantastic location. Parked in the square there was a stand selling fish chowder and lobster/crab rolls, I recommend it.

Take your time on your drive to get there (the road is in bad condition). The camping is family owned and SO friendly <3

Go see the sunset on the left from the short (20 minutes) hike. You might be lucky enough to see minke whales ;)

Pick a tent on the right side, facing the beach. You will be able to take pictures on the sunrise from your tent ;)

Do not eat the lobster / crab rolls. It's expensive and not tasty. The chowder however is worth its price!

They recently renovated the toilets / showers and it's nice and clean.

It was nice to walk the beach down the cliff.

We were there during low season so there were not that many people, but we can easily imagine this place being super crowded because it is worth it.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in eastern Canada. Great facilities, food truck is a nice touch. The tent and trailer sites are on a cliff overlooking the cove/beach. There is cell phone service as well. Warning: road access to this campground is rough. Huge pot holes and wash out. Don’t suggest cars with very low clearance. We made it fine with Subaru cross trek.

We made the trip up to Meat Cove Campground with our family of 6 and it didn't disappoint. We loved our site, the view and the friendly staff. Heading down to the beach and swimming around to the private beach was a memory we'll cherish forever. Just wish we could've stayed longer. Next time.

Meat Cove is a MUST experience! The scenery, amazing food and people, make it a true destination spot to sooth senses and relax in the natural beauty of Cape Breton! The Chowder Hut/Lawless Lobster are out of this world as master chef Eileen and her husband are the coolest people you will ever meet with a recipe for chowder and lobster sandwiches that will blow your mind! To top everything off, the scenery is GORGEOUS with a cove beach that leaves one in awe! There are camping spots and plenty of hiking trails! Our family/team at PhotographingInTheMoment (insta) #photographinginthemoment absolutely loved the experience and will be back soon!

Magnifique endroit, vue sur l'océan, plage tout près et que dire de la chaudrée de fruits de mer.elle vaut le détour

Great campground with spectactular views, unfortunately the roads leading down to the beach still have gaping potholes in them. I would not recommend driving there unless you have a four wheel drive, I learned the hard way and had my car towed

Quaint camp grounds at the end of the dirt trail. A lot of it is actually paved and it is an easy drive. Enjoy coffee from the office shop then wander down to the beach. Beautiful

Absolutely beautiful place to visit! Breathtaking with the high cliffs and mountains against the ocean!
Justin on staff, was awesome and found us the perfect spot for our last minute overnight "car camping " trip. He was friendly and helpful and even delivered our wood. We are seniors and are unable to lift much and he helped us out!
We loved the experience and will never forget our stay. Mother nature was showing off with a red harvest moon, starry night and even a cruiseship sailing by in the moonlight rays on the ocean.
Next morning we combed the beach enjoyed many beautiful pics we captured.
We later our travel down the road, just outside the campground, we cane upon a pod of long fin pilot whales. We watched them for 15 mins till they swam out to far to see.
The whole experience was surreal!
Highly recommend to anyone

You feel like you reached the end of the world. Can't be more remote than this. The views are just breathtaking. Pictures don't do this place any justice. You've gotta come here at least once in you life. It is a definite bucket list item. Hiking, camping, swimming (polar bear swim), meditating, bonfire, chilling, etc.

People were very friendly! The owners were kind and accommodating. The cabins and bathrooms were clean and the view was phenomenal. The hikes were intense but definitely worth it when you see the view at the top. My family and I will definitely be back here. We love Meat cove!

Very friendly people, great sites (if you're adventurous, stay at site 11! We also stayed in a cabin which was great as well. Can't go wrong here

The place was unexpected for us to go to but, we liked to go for an adventure since we were in the area in Cabot Trail Cape Breton Island. And of course, we ended up camping there. The place, view and the beach an Atlantic Ocean will be worth it to enjoy your stay. The most amazing place to spend your vacation. The washrooms was so clean and around the campsite. Also, a staff in the office was very nice, kind, helpful and approachable. Make sure to book your site before going there.

Coup de cœur! Paysage fabuleux!

Beautiful cove to swim in and spend the day at. Holy crow was it ever WINDY overnight, though! I have a feeling this cove is windy a lot of the time due to its location. Would love to visit again, but would probably rent one of the “glamping” cabins instead of tenting.

It's to bad the chowder from the food truck is only during the week I will have to go back again

I think, we northernst pont of NS. And what a view. The CP is built on the hill on the rock. Great place. But if you angry, that we rock will works.stay better away.no reservations possible.first come, first serve

This is a very nice place to stay, but understand that you have to being whatever you need with you, such as bedding, food, water, etc. There is solar powered light, and enough power to charge your mobile devices. The staff is very nice too.

My favourite place on the planet. Cabins are simple yet clean and the campe sites are amazing. I want to build a house on this cliff and watch the seals on the shore one day. Nicest people ever work in this chowder hut. Almost like heaven
13 November 2021 6:39
Spectalur view from Meat Cove which lies atop of Cabbot Trail, Nova Scotia where St Lawrence Bay meets the Atlantic ocean.
09 November 2021 16:14
Amazingly breathtaking, love.matter where you look you see the rugged shores of the very Northern tip of Cape Breton! Beautiful!
08 November 2021 1:44
Delicious seafood chowder! Would have loved it a bit chunkier. Great views from the chowder hut, saw a group of sea lions near the beach.
07 November 2021 19:37
I'd give them more stars if I were able. Firstly the camp is located right on the headland with honestly stunning views of both sunrises and sunsets.

When we arrived late with a lack of dinner the entire staff bent over backwards to make sure we didn't go hungry which I was very thankful for.

We loved our stay and highly suggest you go also.

Unfortunately we didn't stay here [too cold for camping and none of the six cabins were available], but we did stop at The Chowder Hut for a mid-afternoon snack in September 2021.
The chowder really hit the spot on a cold day and the onion rings were good.
Be mindful of The Chowder House hours after Labour Day in September, they're only open from 1100h - 1800h. They also said they'd be closing end of the month due to renovations.

A campground with a unique view on the cove! Each spot its own view because it's stepped spots over the sea. One of the best views of the Cape but to avoid when the wind comes from the sea except if you are in a mini van (big trailers cannot reach this spot, it's a gravel road)
19 October 2021 0:22
Great place, we had an amazing view at the location 18. Beach close by. However there are no trees and the sun can become overwhelming. Also we had to walk a little while to access garbages and washrooms

Arriving at Meat Cove Camping was awesome
Justin helped me out with a bag ice and I stayed with my travel van! This was on my bucket list (and my mom's) to travel and I am sure glad I got to!
The drive into this magical place was some pavement and some dirt road but it's about the adventure of life is how I look at it. I would go there again in a heartbeat but next time stay more then one night that's for sure. The waves were crashing down but it was still very cool to see coming up on the beach and taking over the cliff/rocks on the side.
A must see in Cape Breton!
13 October 2021 5:50
If you're a camper it looks phenomenal. Believe there are some cabin rentals as well. Making it to the northern most spot in NS is a must. Make the day trip to the Chiwder. Food is good but pricey.
01 October 2021 16:35
One of the best Oceanside campgrounds in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia! Lots to do from kayaking, swimming, walking trails, and whale watching! Great food at the Chowder Hut and just an awesome place to spend a few days away from work with family and friends!
01 October 2021 12:33
Rugged but good drive to the most Northern point in CAPE Breton (accessible by car). Nice lunch spot if not a little pricey. They know they have a captive audience. Food was super tasty.
10 September 2021 18:29
5 stars for camping but 3 for restaurant. Would expect a real fork and a plate, not plastic if you eat there. Lazy and no excuse to do that in 2021.
08 September 2021 19:58
Great location! Decent food. I got some really helpful hiking info from Justin. Who know the "End of the Road" could be so awesome!
06 September 2021 19:41
Cool camping experience with stunning views! Best for adults/couples. We came somewhat unprepared for the landscape and brought an oversized tent which caused us some problems resulting in an early check out, but Justin was super accommodating and provided a full refund for the nights we chose not to stay! We will come again when we are better prepared for a more rugged stay!
31 August 2021 12:05
I wasn't at the campground but we drove to Meat Cove. It's a little disappointing that everything is roped off with private property but nonetheless we stopped and enjoyed the view we did have.
25 August 2021 8:41
Best camping experience in a while. Justin, our camp caretaker at Meat Cove was very friendly and helpful. Gave us a quick tour of the campsite, answering any of our questions. Campfire wood was provided at a reasonable price, promptly and delivered to us on site by quad. Only downside was the chowder hut was closed for the moment, this is understandable with with covid-19. Great site and very friendly staff.
23 July 2021 1:21
Very cool place to be. Great and friendly staff, clean washrooms and showers. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. ️

The fish and chips were top notch.
21 July 2021 10:06
Beautiful place friendly staff. But the food is highly overpriced. Your chowder is terrible the worst i ever tasted two spoonfulls straight in the garbage it was mostly cabbage.
19 July 2021 15:28
Really nice little campground and very scenic can be very windy while tent camping and the wifi and cell service can be spoty which is typical of the location but otherwise and amazing little campground.
08 July 2021 10:43
Worth every second of the drive! It was extremely windy the night we stayed and raining the next morning, but I didn’t care it was worth it! The bathroom is extremely clean, showers were excellent! The owners were really friendly
07 July 2021 4:51
Million dollar view for $40 a night (tent) or $80 a night (cabin).
Absolutely spectacular views, well worth the long drive to get there. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the facilities are spotless. We also ate at the restaurant which was excellent- highly recommend the fish and chips (portions are huge you might want to share with a friend!)
The stars at night.not to be missed. We swam at the beach and watched seals diving off shore. A unique and very special experience. I will definitely go back- next time for longer!
