Beautiful location for events, wedding receptions, vintage photoshoots, and much more. They host events and openhouses throughout the year that are fun, informative and inexpensive for a day of fun for both adults and kids. A must see.
They also have a Historical Society and archive, which is great for those of you who are History buffs!

The day we arrived, we did not have much time to view everything in its full glory! But this place is just magical, the moment you enter from the road, it feels like you are in a different era!

The old machinery and vehicles is what always takes my fancy, can't resist some nostalgia. I see this location is temporary closed, I hope that it reopens soon, so everyone can visit!

This is a wonderful and fantastic place to come visit. The staff take great care in maintaining the museum and making it a center for the community. Definitely a must see if you are in the area!

Fun place to visit every year. The family who built it really care about the place, so that's wonderful history.

Worth a day trip from Halifax. It is my favourite museum I have been to in Canada. This recreated 1940's village has a homestead, a schoolhouse, a church, a barn, a miner's house, a boathouse, and a workshop. You can walk through and see artifacts donated by families in the community. The Cookhouse has great '40s lunch - with vegetarian and gluten free options! There is a friendly mama sheep with her sweet lamb roaming the grounds.

Amazing day trip. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and excited to tell us about what this place had to offer! Definitely friendly to all ages and a great place for pictures. It's nice to go somewhere where you can actually interact with history in a hands on way without everything being in glass cases. Food was great too. Definitely will go back.

We went to experience the Seafood Festival, and it did not disappoint! We were greeted by a gracious host who explained how everything worked then went about our seafood sampling. The food and drink offered were absolutely amazing. All the workers were more than eager to assist. It was a lovely afternoon for all ages.

Amazing little spot with educational heritage themes. Added bonus was the cold waters seafood hosted there.

A great spot that will give you a view of how things used to be. The front office feels just like an old general store.

They were closed at the time but noted the presence of these EV chargers as I drove by. Will definitely visit when they are open.

Check this place out, seriously. It's a total hands on museum, run by locals and owned by a ancestral local.good peeps through and through.
There is a consistent stream of events happening here, all set up by volunteers. It's just good wholesome fun. A must.
I'm definitely checking it out again and again.
