We had Mother’s Best Steak & Crispy Haddock Fish. They were amazing! Servers were nice.

For such an outdated non modern restaurant, it was absolutely fabulous, tasteful and affordable. I recommend this restaurant.

Steak dinner for $18, cooked to my liking Medium, it was placed in front of me 5 minutes after ordering. Amazing

Because of many stories and advertisements, we took a small detour and stopped there.
Everything was OK, but there was no reason for me to go there.

Free meal on your birthday! I've been going to this place since I was a kid. It hasn't changed in the best kind of way.

I've never had a bad meal or service here. Anytime my family and I stop by we have a great time. The service is always fast, helpful and friendly. Mother's best is a fantastic meal, never disappoints. We usually start off with the onion rings, which are always hot, crispy and delicious. Tried quite a few different menu items and I've not heard a complaint yet. It can certainly get busy at times, on those occasions we've never had to wait long, and it's worth the wait. My dad's not from this area but insists we come here anytime he's visiting.

They were out of the Strip Loin we ordered and offered us a 2 for 1 special on their Bone in New York Rib.

I was in a rush, so I called in and my plate was ready when I arrived.
I had ribs and an apple pie, all very good and heartwarming.
My waitress Gracie was so helpful, brining the check in before I even asked for it as she knew I was in a hurry.

We visited Antigonish, the town next over and were trying to find a place to eat in town, and happened upon reviews for this place which were highly rated and numerous. We drove the 20min outside of Antigonish to this town to sample the wares and it is a very old, traditional establishment which obviously has stuck to its ways. The dining room is a single room with about 20 tables, and there are very few windows. The faux wood panelling and old style lighting give it a 1950's vibe as do the painted chairs and tables. Ordering is quick and easy and the various cuts of steak or burgers are the main draw. We tried the NY strip as well as a burger and the seafood chowder, poutine and onion rings. The steak was marginal in both size and quality, but certainly edible. The burger appeared to be from frozen, but it was juicy and delicious for sure. The seem to make a big deal about "pilgrim style fried onions" which are just stir fried onions put on everything. They do taste good with steak as well as the burger i will agree. The poutine had real cheese curds but was pretty small overall. The onion rings were great with real onion rings battered and fried. The seafood chowder was a super creamy and had a good amount of seafood in it. The clientele ranged from seniors to families to locals to tourists, to military types. All were having a good time and a good feed. The service was very good, and very efficient. There is ample parking outside and there is a hotel across the street. A good experience, however, unlike the seemingly endless reviews posted online, the meat is not the best quality, nor it is the cheapest cost. The value for money is moderate. The experience is good, and i probably would come again and bring friends for the same experience, but i would not necessarily come every day myself, although from what i gather from the other clients in the room, many do. Interestingly, i would've thought that being relatively close to the university (SFX) in Antigonish and open late, that there would be many students that come by, but the staff said that it was a bit far for them to drive over. Nice experience overall.

This is one popular place. The steaks are the draw to this establishment. Worth the visit. The staff were not only beautiful but also very capable and friendly.

Danny and i had the pleasure of eating there last.friday Russell the place looks beautiful and the service was great. We had a young lady by the name of Hannah. She was so friendly and kind. We chatted some. Your place looked so great with the new look. Nice and bright and clean. Thank you for a beautiful meal and lovely service. I will be back again when i am down home.

Great surprise! The steak is very good. The ribs are excellent. Sides, especially the mushrooms and onion rings, are “world famous” too.
