I used to love this shop, and Ive spent thousands of dollars there. But no more. Between the way over priced MEC brand garbage they’re selling lately and the smug, condescending yet still unknowledgeable staff…well, Ill just save myself the irritation and headaches and buy elsewhere. Atmosphere has now taken your spot. Nice knowing ya MEC.

If I can go in, find what I want and get out, I can find some good, yet expensive stuff.

If I have to seek help from staff it's a different story. Staff are often underinformed, arrogant, pretentious, or blatantly rude. They won't listen, make assumptions, don't have answers or recommend something they don't know and that might not even be at the mec store.

Fantastic location for support with bike maintenance - all of the team (I dealt with Glenn, Dana, and Andy) were generous with their time and expertise. Strongly recommended!

HUGE shout out to Dana (not sure of the spelling) and Tabitha at the Halifax store. I was having issues with my rear fender which required multiple visits. These two mechanics were patient, kind and professional.

Had trouble with my saddle while on a trail. Took it to them, the guy with a cap repaired it for free. I insisted him to take atleast something but refused. What a nice guy man. I hope he stays happy always.

Large MEC store in downtown Halifax. Parking in the area is a little skimpy (street) but there is a public garage close by. Smaller footprint store than others I've been in but decent size for the market. Staff were friendly & helpful but certainly not overbearing. Good stuff available here that will last you many, many years, most with decent warrantees. Some items/sizes have thinned out which is likely related to supply chain issues.

Allstar retail experience. They got the sale, the upsell and the addon!

Was back in for some advice on care of previously purchased product recently. Staff very knowledgeable and provided advice that didnt require a product purchase.

We drove from Ingonish 5 hours as this is one of the only proper service shops in Nova Scotia, Dropped my Alpine touring setup off to get mounted in the middle of June and they were able to accommodate despite being in full bike season mode! GLEN the tech was super helpful and friendly! Went for a bit of a shop after and was greeted by many friendly staff, MATTHEW was such a knowledgeable guy with almost every department! We got talking and I'd come back to that store just to see these lovely people again! Good passionate staff are hard to find and I hope they are treated very well (maybe a pay raise in near future for those two fine gentlemen) Thank you mec for an awesome experience overall!

You can find many things for outdoor or indoor sports, camping, etc, at good and competitive prices.

It is a really nice store. I was surprised they sold anything I can afford (nothing crazy- MEC is what it is price-wise) The staff were amazing and very kind. One person helping me had to leave so she introduced me to her colleague before she left. Really good service and good selection. Just a little pricy lol

The reason I am camping right now is because of a great sales person at mec in halifax, Ava! She’s so stunningly beautiful. I don’t know how anyone could shop there—she’s so beautiful. The way she greets you at the door is great. I’ve never felt more welcomed and loved in a space as I did in The MEC Halifax. Truly I will be camping everyday of my life just because of the inspiration she has planted in my heart.

Went to buy a Garmin watch. Went to Best Buy first and the staff had zero knowledge and wouldn't even let me try one on.

Ashley at MEC not only knew exactly what I was looking for, let me try them on, was extremely patient with me, and her knowledge actually lead me to buying a different watch that I originally wanted. I'm very happy with my purchase and Ashley's customer service!

Not impressed. Ordered a couple of items online, to be picked up in the store. About 12 hours later I receive an email from MEC saying an item was not in the store so I couldn't pick it up and they don't know when the item will arrive. I called to cancel that item and get a refund and they said no refund; not until the item eventually arrives in the store will they issue a refund. Don't buy from this company - not honest. Better to go the Trail Shop or elsewhere in Canada.

False advertising. They list a product online in their shop. Call to find out about product and they say they won't be ordering until spring. Why would you list an item on your site stating that it's available when in reality you have no plans to sell that item for several months. This should be reported as false advertising. If you sell a product and a customer wants to buy it you order it and that's that. Ridiculous

This is my best outdoor equipments and apparels store in Halifax. There are enthusiastically professional staff, wide fitting rooms and multi-options. The store is quite big. I feel like to browse here once a month for monitoring the clearance and sale products here. Furthermore, you don't need to worry about the returning issue since MEC has a unique policy. It's lucky for me to heard of MEC though its name was changed to "Mountain Equipment Company".

Buyer Beware! Bought a pair of pants online, and wanted to return them due to poor quality. After work8ng a 12 hour shift, and driving around Halifax for 20 minutes looking for a parking spot finally got into the store. Was promptly told they would only give me a gift card, not a cash refund. That "fact" was not made readily available when I ordered them. So much for the "Rock Solid" guarantee refund. After 25 years of membership, that is the last nickel they will get out of me. At least Atmosphere has easy parking, and refunds, and is where I normally buy outdoor/sports related toys. And will be rrom now on. Would give 0 stars if possible. To top it off, some smiley manager guy who needed a shower badly kept calling me "sir". Was like a weird time warp back to the 1970's.
