My Family have taken all our pets to this vet since I was a child. (Over 30 years) We have been fortunate enough to have healthy animals that haven’t required treatment since 2018. Today I needed an appointment for my cat & was told that the file is inactive and they can not take her. I am so extremely disappointed that this is how loyal customers are treated. Shame on you; do better!

Called today and was told my cat has never been there in 7 years when my cat is only 7.rude front desk lady

I truly hope this clinic checks the reviews. I’m beyond grateful for them taking in my family’s dog during his final moments to make sure he was safe and comfortable. Especially when the other vet clinic in town (which my family is actually patients at) we beyond rude and lacked any form of compassion or empathy. The love and care they showed my family and our boy goes beyond any thanks I can give.

Best vet I’ve ever experienced down to earth tell you how it is. Price wise very good. 4 thumbs up

Once upon a time there was no better vet in the land, but that was long ago and the story has changed.

They were my vet of choice for over a decade.
Now, I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
Take your business elsewhere if you can.
The new owners don't care about you or your pet.

Always caring and great service, wouldn't go anywhere else.

Amazed how well they are doing with current shortage, I wouldn't be able to do their job and appreciate everyone.

A shadow of its former self. The majority of the five star reviews are from when it was owned by Dr. Robb. A LOT has changed since the sale. I’m moving on and will travel an hour to follow a vet who used to work here.

Our 9 month old puppy was diagnosed with a new heart murmur, suggested from eating a grain free diet. After changing his food, had follow up, with a different vet in same clinic, and heart murmur was still present. When I wanted to wait another month to get info, from our breeder and do my own research, before making a 4 hour trek to Halifax to see a cardiologist, the vet wrote on our record that I refused care! This is a therapy dog for my husband who suffered a massive stroke, we paid over $5,000.00 to get him from Manitoba! Why would we refuse care for him! When I explained the hardship of getting to Halifax, this vet just stood and looked at me, no suggestions of possibility doing an X-ray or ultrasound at the clinic to get an idea if something big going on. This info, could be sent to Dr. Orr to assess and he could possibly give some recommendations. Had previously poor care and accusations from this vet that were dispelled by another vet, with a different dog. Why can’t we see the same vet each visit for consistency of care? I respect the first vet we saw who diagnosed the murmur, but not this second one. Also she made me wait 45 minutes to put my bill in the system so I could pay & go home.

UPDATE: Billy was seen Jan. 10 by Cumberland County Vets, right in our community, as they have a mobile service……No Murmur!

I had my cat spayed and all her shots at this vet and purchased advantage from them annually (which can only be done if you are a client). Because I did not have my healthy, indoor cat in to see them for a check up in the past 3 years they would not see her when she was visibly declining at a rapid rate. They at first offered drop off euthanasia. However, I called back the next day and they offered an appointment (7 days later) for euthanasia with me there. They would not give her an examination. My cat died within 48h at home. I gave two stars for the simple reason they were the only vet in Pictou and Colchester Counties that would let me be with her when she was put to sleep. Turns out we didn’t need that since she passed at home.
Perhaps if pets were not required to go to the vet when they are not sick - without fear of being dropped as a client, the local vet clinics would have time to see urgent cases.

Garbage vet. Long time customer but wouldn't take some of my pets only others that were there more recently. Reception is terrible and slow. Avoid this vet at all costs. Sad that before with Dr Rob I have 5 stars
20 August 2022 8:37
What a joke. I trusted this place in the dr. Rob days. I spent 20 min on hold after I told her it's been 6 years to come back and say it's been over 3 years go see another vet, even tho I have used their services for other pets more recently. Sent me elsewhere. Never go here.

I took my cat Oscar in to say goodbye to him. They are so professional, kind, and empathetic. Wonderful people.

Called today to make an appointment for my kitty. She had been spayed and needled at this clinic.and was told to call around to other clinics as she would be a new patient. They have no records for my baby. I found them to be rude by refurring me to go elsewhere as they were my baby's primary vet. I will not refer anyone there again. Very disappointed.

Its almost a 4hr round trip for us to visit this vet clinic. No issues so far. Our Kitty has had many health issues and these folks keep him going. Usually very thorough. Staff are friendly.
22 September 2021 0:53
While they are short staffed due to COVID, anytime I go there with one of my dogs, they are always very helpful and treat us with great service.

A little upset you can't buy worm medication for cats without making an appointment for the cat to be seen. The cat isn't sick I just want to do a routine de-worm. Nope no can do: (

I am moved to write this as a cautionary note to those looking to have their pet's teeth cleaned.

My four and half year old Havanese breath smelled poorly so I took him to NG Veterinary clinic for a diagnosis.

Dr. Dawn examined my dog and informed me that his teeth require scaling to remove plaque and that he may also require the removal of a couple of teeth as there was some swelling of the gums. I was sent home with a 10 day prescription of amoxicillin and told to bring my dog back in two weeks for the dental procedure which would be performed under anesthesia.

I dropped my dog off at the vet at 8: 30 this morning with the understanding that he was getting his teeth cleaned and perhaps having a couple of teeth pulled if need be. When I picked my dog up at 4 pm, I was horrified to learn that a Tech by the name of Tanya didn't perform a scaling but instead probed each tooth for signs of inflammation and pulled any tooth where inflammation was present. In total 27 teeth were removed leaving my dog with just 11 teeth to chew for the rest of his life!

I am heartbroken for my dog and feel totally deceived by Dr. Dawn and the NG Vet Clinic for saying one thing then doing another. If I had known beforehand that my 4 1/2 year old dog stood to lose 27 teeth, I would have sought a second opinion. Why the disconnect between a Vet’s diagnosis and a Tech’s actions? Is there no oversight? This is not right! At the very least I should have been consulted by phone prior to her taking liberty to extract as many teeth as she saw fit. What value is a Vet consultation if a Tech can do what they want without an owner's permission?

To make matters worse, the supercilious office manager treated my questions about what transpired with disdain and aggressively pushed back on letting me speak with anyone to learn the cause of this failure.

Next time you are at the dentist and have your teeth probed, ask if they intend to pull a tooth should they encounter a pocket of inflammation?

Wonderful, Caring Staff. These are all my rescues who have been cared for by the New Glasgow Veterinary Team. Thank you. Lisa, Red, Blackie and Momma.

The most excellent vetinaray place to go to. Staff are the best and service and pricing are top notch. We have been taking our dogs there for years

Took my dog there because it was his time to go as he was almost 15 years old and having health issues that were making his life uncomfortable. The way my fur baby was treated was great. The way I was treated I think was horrible. I am exempt from wearing a mask and was barked at by employees when I went inside the building to let them know we were there. I was told I HAD to wear a mask to which I stated I am medically exempt.so not only am I upset because I'm going to be saying goodbye to my fur baby of 15 years I am also being forced rudely I might add to wear a mask even though I do not have to wear one because I am exempt. I believe it was handled horribly and the staff were rude about it. Thank God they treated my fur baby better

Took our very sick cat to be euthanized yesterday what a horrifying experience. The initial person that took us to the room was so nice and understanding. Left us to comfort our cat, Then came the person who euthanized her she didn't even introduce herself, and the roughness with which she handled the cat was appalling.our cat was horrified and balling after several missed attempts at placing the intravenous It terrified our cat and horrified us when all we wanted was a peaceful ending for our girl in the final, minutes. It wasn't the case. I honestly thought that the cat would be sedated prior to the procedure she wasn't, the whole procedure just seemed to be so rushed because it was close to closing. I don't know the vet's name and I understand the veins may have been difficult to find but the forcefulness used at the end will haunt us forever.

Awesome staff. Find the issue, and give you a list of pricing options and outcomes from each option. They seem to really care about the animals and their people and take the time to make sure you understand their treatments. We have finally found our new town vet. Thanks, so much.

My pit bull is a rescue scared everywhere but our place took him to the new Glasgow vet he prances inside the office utterly unbelievable how relaxed he was. The staff is top notch Extremely caring and very professional you can tell that every member their loves their job.
24 February 2020 13:08
Had high hopes for this place but they were so overly busy that I got no update on my dog, recieved no outline for the surgery beforehand and no info on how the surgery went or even after care. Fairly disappointing professionalism but the surgery itself was well done and the vet personally apologized for lack of communication afterwards which definitely improved my opinion.

Amazing vet clinic. Amazing staff. Won't find better people than Dr. Robb & the main vet tech assistant Laurieanne. Great prices as well. They truly care about the animals, Dr Robb has even chased me out to the parking lot when he's been out back and I've just dropped in for flea meds or something, to ask about the dogs he's previously treated in our foster homes only because he truly cares. Wouldn't take my own or foster pets anywhere else!

My dog won't go through the front door anymore. I've had him there 4 times without any problems, he actually liked going. Now he is terrified of this place! We came in with a very painful and oozing hotspot on his face and he was basically attacked by electric clippers (I can only imagine how he was feeling). I don't know how else to describe it, he weighs 110 lbs and two people were trying to sit on him to hold him down. Needless to say it didn't happen without sedation, but it did terrify him from going to the vet.

We received the absolute best care for our two year old golden retriever who hurt her leg on a Sunday! They were quick to respond back when called, willing to see her as soon as possible and genuinely cared for her and us when we took her. It ended up being a bad sprain but they kept her overnight to make sure she was ok. And prices were so reasonable!
24 July 2019 18:52
They always have gotten us right in and are great to deal with. Best pricing I have found and all the staff is great to deal with. I'll always take my animals here.

If your furry friends have problems this place has the staff and facilities to render help in their time of need. Thanking you for all your past help!

By far the best Vet in Pictou or Antigonish county. Everytime i go in the vets and assisstants are always diligent and friendly

Sat back saying " I don't know what is wrong, wait and see. " This continued on for 4 days and finally our Siamese cat was so sick that we ended up putting him down. Only after we instructed them to take x Ray's, to operate, to take more blood tests did they actually do it. Then they still couldn't diagnose the problem. If they couldn't handle the medical problem, why would they not consult a clinic that could? This clinic is not a professional animal hospital.
After all was said and done, they charged us $ 700 + and handed our cat back to us in a cardboard box!

I have nothing but, praise for all the staff at New Glasgow Veterinary Clinic. They have gone above beyond for me and my dog Tammy. I would recommend this business.
