New Minas Big Stop Restaurant

I always have a great time here. The waitstaff is pleasant. The food is good. It can be busy sometimes so the wait can be a little long on certain days or at certain times but I always think it's worth it. One of my favorite places to eat!

The service was great the waitress was very nice and attentive. Food is always good never had anything bad there

I've been eating here since it opened. If you want a consistently wonderful meal you can't go wrong here. Yes its always busy but totally worth it.
Anything amazing always takes time.

Meh, It was okay. Quality is down, and prices are up. I wouldn't not eat there again but also wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.

Staff are always very friendly! Desserts are great!

Breakfast was amazing I ordered the Bigstop Omelett with a side of bacon and whole wheat toast with jam and a orange juice everything was so good I definitely would come back next time I am home again to see family.

The finest in Truckstop cookin'. No one leaves hungry unless they want to. Beat spot in the Valley for a hot turkey sandwich.

Stopped for supper. Partner really enjoyed her stir fry. Cheeseburger was a bit dry and gravy on poutine was cold. The air conditioning was blowing on high and all customers were freezing as well as employees

Ordered the fish and chips, fish was really good, portion size was enough but the French fries were the krinkle cut ones frozen out of a bag. Too bad, with fish that good it would have been nice if it was served with fresh hand cut fries instead of frozen.

Stopped here for breakfast. It was a typical Big Stop breakfast, delicious and reasonably priced. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. Great place to bring the family. Hope this helps

I had lunch here on Saturday. I had a breakfast order with a piece of coconut pie for dessert. The food was very good and certainly had large portions. I like the coconut cream pie but I would have preferred to have whipped cream on the top instead of meringue.

My boyfriend was born in Kentville and his Grandfather lived in New Minas. He has found memories of coming here with him as a child. We were recently came back on a family trip. It was so good, that we came a second time before we left. Excellent food, and service!

Food is usually great. My experience with the staff is very hit or miss. Some are quite friendly and some are quite rude!
We have been told it will be 15-20 mins for a table then somehow the table is ready within 5 mins if we tell them we plan to wait.
Currently, with the 6ft guidelines there are only TWO tables are available if you need a highchair. (That doesn't seem very fair to me!)

Always great food and this time amazing service even if you need to stand outside when its wet so you can get a table. #covidsucks

Had breakfast special. It was fine. The service was exceptional. Friendly, fast, in a pleasant dining room.

Always great friendly service weather it be gas and snacks in the store to sitting down to one of your favorite meals in the restaurant. You won't be disappointed + where else can you get a litre of Soda for a $1.15.

There is a women who works here older and nothing but the rudest woman in this position.
I will not ever but anything from airving when up in the atlantic province's period this was the last time you people need to hire personal in but sure if this rude women is the site manager but she works days from what i know and i have heard from a colleague Trish driver of mine and he said welcome to Irving in new minas and it doesn't get any ruder then this woman i could not agree more. She had yellow Gray hair a heavy set women didn't get her name and wont be back ever to aquire it

Fantastic service - very accommodating to my elderly parents when we took them in for dinner the other day. Great food.

Our meals were ok. My fish & chips were a bit overdone but I didn't complain. Hubby had a club sandwich which was very good, but his salad was not. The bowl arrived filled with lettuce and a few tomatoes & cucumbers on top. When he emptied it out to mix it he had to tear up the lettuce, which was all large pieces. I was surprised the waitress didn't ask about it because the bowl was quite full when it went back. She was very nice though, and so was the atmosphere.

Great fish & chips. Extremely prompt and friendly curbside pickup. The curbside pickup parking is behind the wheelchair parking.

Usually when I go there but the last time it was horrible. My clams were tough, my mashed potatoes were cold and lumpy and the sliced carrots were cooked so much they were mushy and my gravy that I asked for on the side was definitely powdered gravy mix. The Big Stop advertises good home cooked meals. I was very disappointed.

Excellent food, excellent service, great location! Brought my mom who is a senior, and my cousin this afternoon for lunch. Can't wait to visit again!

A solid 3 stars based solely on food quality and value for price. Most food ordered was fried or microwaved and prices didn't justify the food quality. Service was good, although first server didn't greet us or feel very warm. Second server was lively and bubbly and was tipped above average as a result. Debating whether to return; will look for better alternatives for dinner first.

Food was awful. The gravy, both beef and turkey had zero flavour. It was like a paste! The turkey was old and flavourless, the fish was dry and looked as though it had been cooked days ago. No amount of condiments improved the taste. Will not eat here again.

Food was great. Table service was great. Would have been 5 stars but the service by the hostess was far below what I consider even passable. Was rude and not much caring when my 78 years old dad walked from parking lot in wearing his oxygen concentrator. He has C. O. P. D.and was told we couldn't sit at the table because our table was still missing two people. It was as hot and humid as could be. So we struggled him back to the vehicle to wait a couple of minutes for them to show. All have both Covid-19 Vaccinations plus waiting time was up and mask. Now if it had of been my decision we would have left and went elsewhere. I can most likely say I will not eat at that one again due to the rude and uncaring of the hostess that evening. Way to go hostess. Even the long wait for food never bothered us but your rudeness did!

Great food, great service, nice staff. Very clean and also has a doggie bark park on site if your traveling with a pooch.

Because we have moved away, we have not been to the Big Stop in a few years. But know matter who is cooking or serving it does not change. I can expect great service and great meals. Just one word of advice, when seniors are dining might not be a good idea to have them set under cooling vent my mom was very cold.

Great food, large portions, very speedy service (not that they try and rush you out the door), good atmosphere. This review applies to pretty much every Irving Big Stop in the Maritimes. The Irvings run a very tight ship, so expect the best in food and expect everything to be SUPER clean! If you've never been to the Maritimes, you have to visits a Big Stop. I have some American friends who tell me if you're travelling in the US, NEVER stop to eat at a gas station. Well I can tell you that Irving Big Stops shatter that mold. Definitely stop at a Big Stop.you won't be disappointed.

Poor customer service from both the wait staff and manager.
I am extremely disappointed with my one and only visit to this location on August 20,2021 with my family. I was visiting the area for the weekend and we decided to have supper as the location was convenient and we had previously had positive experiences at other Big Stop locations in the Maritimes. My son was telling a story while waiting for our food and he gestured by raising his arm which accidentally knocked a water glass out of a waitress’ hands. She scowled at him, sighed and shook her head at him. He got up to assist her and verbally offered to help her at which point she stated that he had done enough and rudely walked away. She had not been adhering to six feet as the tables were far apart and the water was not meant for us. His back was to the waitress and so he did not see her coming. Plus he’s a child. She then proceeded to gossip about him to the rest of the staff rather than mop it up. I contacted Irving to lodge a complaint about how the waitress handled the situation and received one call from the manager stating she is not available to accept phone calls from the public, that’s she’s very busy and only works daytime hours so would not be available to discuss this at any other time. I understand that people are busy but I also am and as a customer would she not want to reach me at a time that’s convenient for me and her comment about being busy suggests to me that she’s too busy to deal with my issues. I will not be back to this restaurant and from reading other reviews it appears this location needs to work on positive customer service.

We visited this Big Stop on July 18th 2021 at around 11: 30.

If I could give a negative star rating for the experience I would. The host was very rude, disrespectful and less than helpful. We were a table of 10 and she did not even attempt to seat us, her answer was "Nope can't do it"! Then proceeded to say she only had room for 2 tables of 4 which leaves out 2 people our party. The restaurant wasn't busy there was multiple empty tables. Don't bother wasting your time, we ended up going to the Applewood Restaurant across the street and it was great! Very welcoming staff and their food was delicious

The big stop used to be amazing, now I have been twice since covid-19, and let me tell you, there service is not there, I couldn't even get a refill of water sitting right beside the serving station.

The employees themselves were arguing amongst each other behind us, and the meat lovers omelette is not even a omelette, it is a meat mix wrapped in a larger fried egg with a little cheese at the bottom.

So just make sure you ask questions about what and how something is made first.
The toast is normally always burnt, and the mashed potatoes are normally cold.

I definitely won't be coming back to spend $70+ on false advertisment and having to listen to employees argue while I'm trying to eat.

Well, I am all about customer service, and understanding the customer service industry specially in covid times, I don't quite understand how some rules apply to certain people but either way this wasn't a good visit!
We were told we would have to wait outside till a table was ready and that was fine, and we waited our time.
Apon taking our order, the waitress looked at my sister and offered to take theirs first and when my sister pointed out her husband was still on the phone she did not acknowledge me and asked if she should go take another tables order and my sister and I both said she could take mine if that's ok? ‍️ she took it.
We were specific enough to say it was 2 separate orders and we were going to order an appetizer. Which we ordered it and didn't receive it.
As I looked over at the long line up waiting inside at the counter I was wondering why was it that they got to wait inside and we didn't? They were still there when we got up to pay.
Now I understand if they were extremely busy, I personally didn't think it was!
Normally Big Stop is our go to place, but tonight we were not happy!

We go here for gas. That's really about it. We also go here for drinks or any supplies that we might need when we go on a journey. The service is always consistent it's just not five-star service.

Ordered a nice turkey meal, have had it a couple times before, well when i got it this time, it was horrible, everything was cold, the dressing was dry and crumbly and didnt even taste like dressing, it had no flavour, and on top of that no cranberry sauce. Portion size was small for the big stop, and for the price. Disappointed is all i can say.

What can I say. One of the most consistent restaurants around. Food is always prepared the same. Which is fantastic. Large portions and the staff is friendly and helpfull

The place was clean, the staff was friendly, the service was great. We ordered fish and chips and of course had to poutine the fries. The batter on the fish was soggy and the gravy was chicken gravy not beef gravy but other than that the food was good.

Good food, good service. Could use some improvements in cleaning up after others leave the table but im aware its crazy busy at times and its hard to clean everything up when the place is packed

The food here is always great. The service is fast and friendly and the location is extremely easy to get in and out of. Price is great too!

I'm giving a five star because our waitress was very accommodating. We arrived shortly after 9pm our order was slow coming out but was very good. We didn't realize they closed at 10. She was friendly and didn't make us feel rushed. Will be back again but at an earlier time. Thanks!

A good step-up from your average diner fare. What makes the place exceptional is the service. Every server I've had is kind-hearted and attentive.
