Oaklawn Farm Zoo

Great farm/zoo. Interesting animals, only thing for colder/wet days would be indoor seating area.

I grew up coming here and I'm visiting with my 3 sons from Detroit, Michigan, USA. It was awesome being back again and showing my boys one of my favorite places to go as a kid.

We are honored to see the permanent monument to our beloved grandaughter Natalie by her favorite animal Blueberry the black bear

Second time and we went on Thanksgiving Day. No wait time. Place is great, I feel like going on a cooler day is better than going in summer when its very hot because you see more of the animals and most are more active vs when its very hot they tend to just be in their shelters hiding so you don’t really get to see them.

I took my child to that zoo.
It was amazing for him.
Full of animals he has never seen before.

Lots of wonderful animals and nice play areas and kids love the pony rides. The food is also quite good.

Have been many times. The kids absolutely love seeing the animals, eating at the canteen and visiting the gift shop. Lot’s of beautiful animals to see and lovely, clean grounds. Always a great visit.

I'm just a layman but I think their capybara pen needs a proper pool, the poor things are suppsed to be semiaquatic but just have a couple inches of water which they need to go to the bathroom in so no proper water to frolick in. Even a running tap for them to sit under would probably be nice for them.

Amazing place! Visited there on a labour day weekend, it was bit crowded but it was super fun to watch such happy animals! Lot of animals & different species of birds which I had never seen before. Kids really loved it. Tickets prices are very reasonable, spent $28 for 4 tickets. Lot of places to sit and relax inside the park, full greenery everywhere. There’s a cafeteria for quick snacks, coffee and refreshments. Highly recommended!

Nice, clean place.good for kids. Interesting animal that you can see close up. Food and admission are reasonable.

Lovely zoo. Lots of shade and my 3 kids enjoyed being able to see and even feed some animals.

Oaklawn Farm Zoo is a delightfully quaint zoo. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm (and adorable animals). The animals seem to be well-treated and get a good amount of space to roam around. If you don't have kids, you could see everything in about an hour if you wanted to. There are many primates, pigs, bunnies, horses, peacocks, and donkeys. They also have some owls, lions, a Canadian lynx, a black bear, and more. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in animals

Nice zoo if you're in the area. Good amount of space for parking and washrooms were clean. We went at 10am on a Saturday when they opened and it wasn't crowded, but started to pick up once we were leaving around 12noon

Always love a visit to Oakland Farm, been going every so often for my entire life. I love seeing animals and think this is a great setup for them so they have a good life.

The "Oaklawn Farm " zoo is absolutely amazing! They have a wide variety of animals from all over the world, and the exhibits are well-maintained. It's a great place to spend a day and learn about wildlife conservation. Highly recommended!

Excellent staff, excellent zoo. Recommend to all withing 90 minutes or so. Nothing comparable for family time within that time range (including Halifax).

Decent sized zoo in the valley of NS. Animals look well cared for and it was a great experience for the kids. They have quite the wide variety of exotic animals there as well including a small reptile exhibit.

The Oaklawn Farm Zoo is a great place to take the family that is approximately a hour and a half drive - Depending on where in Halifax you travel from. Lots to see and check out around the property.

Prices are great - Children under 3 are free. There is a gift shop as well with lots of cute stuffies, squishamellow, and other little animal figures. The cost at the gift shop isn't overly expensive, the prices range from a couple dollars for a toy grow with me egg as far as $48 I believe for an Oaklawn Farm Zoo bucket hat.

Zoo - Was very tidy and clean, the animals were out playing lots. My family and I went early and arrived before 11 as they open at 10am. The sun isn't overly hot in the early morning so the animals are more active than in the later afternoon when the sun is super hot.
Bring quarters if you want to feed the deer corn, it's a great time!

Food - The zoo does have a canteen which was packed full with customers waiting for food and to place an order. Fries, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, onion rings and chicken strips are a few of the minor selection of food items on the list. Prices are ok.

Overall the Oaklawn Farm Zoo is a great place to check out - just make sure to check out the Lookoff in Blomindon on your way back home to Halifax. It's absolutely breathtaking.

Nice zoo, it rained the day we were there but still enjoyed the day. Of course would have enjoyed a longer visit if the sun had been shining

The name actually speaks for itself. The lions are what makes it a zoo. It's much more of a farm

Highly recommended for goat petting and lion viewing. The fences around the lions seemed a touch short, but maybe that's just me.
