The location of the campsite is brilliant. With sea and cove views. The sanitary facilities leave a lot to be desired. Old and not really clean. The coves are absolutely worth seeing.

What an incredible fish and chips. We also had the pickled herring with crackers and sour cream for a beginner. Flavour galour. With the blues and folk music playing next to this ocean side gold treasure one could be forever on vacation. Thank you

A very beautiful place. Around 1 hr + drive from Halifax. I guess it is open only in the summer. Visit on a nice sunny day, there is a restaurant you can dine in and also options for campers to park their RVs or trailers. There are options to stay as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed viewing the caves! We loved that this park was not overflowing with tourists, we were able to view everything semi-privately! The highlight of our vacation so far, and would recommend.
We were impressed by the camping facilities and would love to come back to camp here one day!

The location is awesome and the views are beautiful. But this campground has the worst cancellation policy I’ve ever encountered. We had to go a day later and leave two days early because of weather. And there is a zero refund policy. So we paid over $400 for two nights. Not only that, my children were charged $30 to come into the park for supper. They could not camp with us but came down to have dinner after their shift as we only live a little over an hour away. I would hesitate to rebook here because of this.

The beautiful sea cliff trail that leads to the famous Ovens Sea caves for which the park was named "Ovens Natural Park" alongside the North Atlantic Ocean, in the Province of Nova Scotia. The park has got camp grounds, RV camps, and massive parking space for the trail hikers. The hike is a moderate one, with many picnic tables and benches to take rest. The sea caves are absolutely spectacular. On a fine sunny day you can see dolphins jumping near the coast. I would highly recommend a visit for everyone.
The Park has got a fascinating gold rush history, unique geology and diverse coastal environment.

A good place for a day visit or stay in RVs for the night. The sea caves and trail was good.

TERRIBLE. It says open May. Well we drove all the way there and the lady was extremely rude and snappy saying they were still closed.

The view is absolutely spectacular. The food in the restaurant is excellent. And the service is wonderful! Highly recommend it!

Not hard to tell that this park is privately owned. While showing my husband around Lunenburg, Monday July 26/21, we were at Spindlers beach when he realized he needed to use the washroom. My husband is disabled and our handicap sign was clearly visible thru the windshield. We pulled thru the main gate, past the first attendant's shack (no one was there) and stopped at the second. A female attendant greeted us, I explained our situation and was horrified to be told that the facilities were for guests only. The washrooms were before the entrance of the park. I asked her if she was serious and she replied yes. With that I turned my car around and headed back to town.easily a 10-15 min drive. Just wanted to say Thanks so much for that South Shore hospitality. It is definitely not what I remember.

Nice little walk. Most of the look offs have steep stairs to access. Railings are limited or wiggly. Difficult to impossible to navigate if you're not good on stairs.
30 September 2021 21:20
Love this place! The view can't be beat, the trail and caves are amazing, and the staff is pleasant, helpful, and really hard workers!
29 September 2021 15:43
Gold panning is kind of a joke. I wouldn't waste your money. Over 6$ per rental of cheap quality plastic pan and little shovel you could get at the dollarstore. You also have to give a 25$ cash deposit for each one. So come with 3 kids and you each want to pan, be prepared to pay 100$ deposit. The view and ocean are worth it.
27 September 2021 21:14
Only half the stuff was open (covid related) but the caves were amazing and the panning for gold was fun. The restaurant was cozy and the food was good. Staff were all really friendly.
27 September 2021 2:28
The view is spectacular, the staff were amazing and the live music was on point. Will most certainly come back.
26 September 2021 5:09
Honestly a beautiful spot, been there a few times in my whole life and this recent visit won't be the last
21 September 2021 19:31
$11/person to enter which is a bit steep. Food service at the diner for lunch was poor, order was wrong and extremely expensive. $55 for 4 burgers and 3 sides of onion rings. Staff were rude when we mentioned our order was wrong (they forgot condiments on the burgers, not a big deal we just asked for them to be on the side after)

Views are fantastic, great place to hike. Only reason it got 2 stars.
17 September 2021 15:29
The camp sites are way too small! It was less than a postage stamp and yet on a down slide!
We will never go back to camp here!
Plus only allowed 3 small wet bundles of wood each night for $6, is crazy!
Plus paying $3 for a medium coffee. What a rip off.
Will tell and let people We know what We went through there.
As We were extremely Un happy campers for the prices paid at $78 a nite!
Extremely disappointed in the Ovens!

This is a great place for everyone! Our kids love it and going camping and hitting it up just for breakfast too. Restaurant is accessible and staff is super friendly!

So I made a reservation online with three cabins to surprise my husband for his birthday in August. I received confirmation of the booking, I sent an email off to confirm as to how much I had to send for my deposit and was told oh no you don't actually have the cabins you were only put on a waiting list! That is not what the reservation said the reservation was to make a reservation for the cabin not to be put on a waiting list, and if that's the case I should have received an email immediately saying that it was a waiting list.long story short my husband's birthday we now have no place to go because everything is booked!

I have been camping at the Ovens for a night in a tent and enjoyed it. Me and my boyfriend had tried to book a cabin for two nights a month prior to when we wanted to go. We were told the one we wanted wasn’t currently available but if it became available we would be notified. We received an email saying it was, so we booked it immediately. However, two nights before we were due to show up, after already buying and packing the necessary supplies and taking time off of work, we were told we had been double-booked and our reservation was cancelled. We were given a full refund which is the least that could’ve been done. I think more diligence should be exercised by staff to ensure that this does not happen, as I had to throw together an entirely new trip with very little notice. I did however book an even nicer trip in Halifax for only a couple dollars more with even nicer accommodations. The park overall should invest more in updating systems and park amenities such as stairs and railings for use as well. I am unsure if I will return because this latest experience has shown me the park has declined in overall care of customers and general look. I might return for a day visit, but will most likely spend my money elsewhere, especially where I can get more for the same price. $10 to walk a trial is kind of steep no?

No internet no pot covers no pool lights not working no lighter for gas stove to expensive for what u get
26 August 2021 16:47
Excellent place for a stroll along the coastline. Pet friendly and also steeped in history. For overnight stays, there are camping sites as well as cottages. There is a pool and a petting zoo on site though they are currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. The trail is well maintained and free of litter with little markers to reference on your guided tour map.

Booked a 4 day camping trip with the intention of spending the 4th day in town and the rest hiking the trails and on the beach.got a phone call 2 nights before we leave letting us know that a TV show had booked the whole campsite and we couldnt stay past Sunday morning. Extreamly unimpressed that they justed ended our vacation prematurly when we booked months in advance and have already purchased the necessaryitems to go (food, camping gear etc). Most they offered us was the ability to reserve our already paid for days next season with the addition of an extra day on them for the "inconvenience ". Personally I just want my money back but I've been informed it is nonrefundable so I will be going for the 2 days I'm permitted to stay but I most certainly will not be returning or spending a dime on this place ever again.

The Ovens or The Indian Ovens is located in Riverport south east of Lunenburg. This shore is full of sea caves. The Ovens Natural Park is the main attraction in The Ovens. This park is presently sized 180 acres. It is a privately owned park with an entrance fee. It is said in the pamphlet provided at the entrance of the park, the land was granted to Casper Meisner by George III and confirmed in the 1784 treaty between England and US, which doesn’t make sense to me because all land belongs to indigenous people who the heck George III is, to grant the land to someone and how the treaty can be recognized without the involvement of First Nations’ chiefs’, anyway.

The site had been known for quartz and gold with slate rock composition which caused the attraction of all kinds of greed. The provided pamphlet also gives the information about different caves and look-offs accompanied with a map like layout of the park. In addition to it the park is good for camping and offers a pool, a small-animal farmhouse, canteen, public washrooms, rocky beach and ample of parking space.

Despite the whole area is naturally gorgeous, however, the following few places intrigued me most;

The Blowhole: which can throw small rocks and seaweed 80 feet up in the air at right tide and wind condition.

Indian Cave: it is believed that a Mi’kmaq indigenous community brave legend entered in this cave on his canoe and emerged in Annapolis on the other side of Nova Scotia through the subterranean passageway.

Cannon Cave: shape of this cave causes a loud sound like a shot of a cannon when sea water slams the cave on high tide. The sound is that loud and realistic that when it happens it appears as everything is shaking. Those cannon shot like sound can be heard from far on the trail.

Well organized, very friendly staff, cost for entry.
The caves are worth checking out. The paths are maintained. Impressed. Nice surprise stop.
17 August 2021 8:40
Amazing views! Cost $11.00 per person for entry.campgrounds, picnic tables and washrooms on site.
16 December 2020 16:47
Short trail along the coast, where you can get a peak of the sea caves. We paid a 10 dollar entry fee for the short walk. The petting zoo, pool and playground were closed but campers were welcome.

Excellent place to visit. The trail takes about an hour to walk. Lots of look offs, sea caves, and nature to explore.

It may be because it was the first thing I experienced but this was the highlight of my stay and adventure in Nova Scotia.
On arrival you are paying an entry fee to park. It was worth the price. You’re given a map and brochure explaining what the Ovens is and the history.
There is a camp ground, a place to eat. Plenty of parking and picnic tables.
The scenery is by far the best part.
I initially walked along the coast and the beach and camp ground and was in awe of that alone.
Then I did the small hike to see the caves. GORGEOUS scenery, fresh ocean scent and some neat little coves and caves to check out. Usually I’m afraid of heights but this was just magnificent. Totally worth it.
I spent about five hours here in awe.
It’s also exciting to note that the Netflix show Locke and Key used this site for filming for the caves which is an added bonus.

You can see people panning for gold which I found funny. Lots of sea shells along the shore to collect.

Definitely worth a visit in my opinion. I had a blast.

This place was amazing to stay at for its breath taking sunsets! Amazing walk along the sea caves and man the view is gorgeous from low tide to high. Only suggestion we have is to maybe educate the day use visitors on being more aware when walking though campers sites (which in my opinion is unacceptable) to have more courtesy. We had people kick our power cord out THREE TIMES while walking right beside our trailer. People should have walked through the sites that were not being used or maybe even walked along the designated road.

I just went to do the sea caves walk and it was a complete waste of time. Their website says that it’s a 1 hour walk, it took me 15 minutes. 20 if you include the time I spent wandering back and forth wondering “is this all of it!? ”.
I also didn’t realise that I would be charged to enter (my fault, I thought the rates section on the webpage was just for camping). So it was also a waste of money. And yeah, I tried to have a bit of a walk around to get my moneys worth but can’t say that I did.

Spent a day exploring this place. Really fantastic spot. Ice cream takes a while but the view makes up for it!
