Fascinating historical insight.
Needs better orchestration. Still has massive potential which is yet to be realised.

This summer we stayed 1 night at the Fortress of Louisbourg! What an experience! We stayed in the Lortigue House (with electricity and plumbing), but if you're really adventurous you can opt to stay in the jail, the guardhouse or in a period tent in the King's Bastion! We had the whole Fortress to ourselves (all night if we wanted to), the houses and buildings were understandably locked up for the night. We are definitely doing this again!

We had a great day at the Fortress. Everyone is so knowledgeable and friendly. We've been a few times and always see something we haven't seen before!

The parks visitors center is the preferred entrance to the Fortress of Louisbourg. Here you can pay your entrance fees, view some informational displays and board a van that will take you to the main entrance of the fortification, where you will be challenged by a sentry before being able to cross a draw bridge into the complex.

Louisbourg est une expérience en elle-même. Quel beau site! Les personnages sont pleins d'information sur la vie de l'époque. Prévoyez plusieurs heures pour bien apprécier le site.

You park in one of the many parking lots and then go in and buy the admission. Adult admission is $8.00 for the off season.

The Visitor Centre has a gift shop and an exhibit inside the building. The exhibit is a quick overview of the history of Fort Louisbourg. The exhibition has mini recreations of the fort, a video playing on a tv with audio, and lots of imagery. The gift shop is small. The Visitor Centre also has shuttle buses that supposedly run every 15 mins to take you to the fortress.

Take the shuttle bus to the fort, else you're going to be doing a 30 min walk there.

Great fortress and awesome experience. So much history, beautiful old buildings and amazing views. If you have your Parks Canada Discovery Pass, it's free. And you have the shuttle included. I highly recommend you to buy this pass because it's really worth it. I enjoyed my time in Louisbourg. It's a little gem in Cape Breton!
