From the very first phone call I knew I found "the vet" for us. Staff is sincre and very caring. Treated my Alex like a pet and not just a cat. Amazing place!

I have to say when my 8 year old black cat "Oscar" got constipated, the doctors and staff there were very upfront about what needed to be done and what it would cost. My handsome dude received the best care and now that he is on prescription cat food to help his bowel system, he is the picture of health! Thank all of very much!

My friend and I unfortunately had to put our bunny down today, and I just wanted to mention that the staff were exceptional at how they handled us and our bunny. So kind and friendly and answered all our questions with sympathy and love. Thank you guys, he will forever be missed, grateful we brought him to your loving team <3

So much thanks to Dr. Lamey and the staff for their fantastic urgent care of Boomers cut foot yesterday.
Today he is putting some pressure back on his foot and he is much happier. He is well on his way to a great recovery. Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts ️

Not our regular Vet buy we had an emergency and were fitted in on a Saturday afternoon. Lovely staff, facility, caring and wonderful to our dog and us.

Amanda and Vicki at Penhorn's front desk/reception were not only extremely kind, patient, and friendly, but were both very knowledgeable when I was panicked and very concerned about my sweet rat babies. I cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond to share information, get me seen ASAP, and being so reassuring. Given how incredibly busy they must be, and the fact that they deal with panicked pet parents all day - I have to give them kudos for being so receptive and responsive. Thank you, seriously.

I recently moved back to the eastern shore with my family and our 13 year old Bichon Friese Bella became sick. We did not have a vet secured yet for our 3 dogs but it became quite clear that Bella was deteriorating quickly. I called Penhorn Animal Clinic and explained the situation and that I believed the time had come to put her down. The staff were empathetic and kind and offered the soonest available appointment to bring Bella in. When my son and I arrived (Bella had been his dog since he was 5) we were taken into a room where Dr. Lamely listened to my concerns and explained what would happen next. They offered my son and I to be able to stay with Bella the whole time (something not offered by our previous vet in Ontario) and I know that meant the world to my son to be able to comfort her until the end. They also offered paw prints at no additional charge which was an amazing keepsake for my son and has since been framed. I can not express my gratitude for their kindness, compassion and empathy during a very difficult time.

I was trying to add to a previous review and somehow deleted my first review (which was also 5 star). If anything, my admiration and respect and appreciation for Dr Keizer have only grown. I am dealing with a complex issue with my sweetest gentle giant dog that is going to take time and trial and error to sort out, and Dr Keizer is the most supportive and knowledgeable and collaborative healthcare expert I’ve EVER MET. I feel that I’m in the most competent and caring hands to sort this issue out - and very grateful for her.

Dr Keizer is amazing! They were very thorough and kind, made me feel like I was making the best decision for my kitten! They didn’t have any appointments available but had the option to drop off our kitten and have him hangout till they were able to see him which was great! They even gave our little piggy a snack which I know he appreciated. This was my first experience as an adult pet owner with an emergency and they made it so easy! If any future emergencies happen they will be our first call!

We would like to thank Dr Lamey, Dr Keizer and their team for the professional and empathic help with the last forty-eight hours of our faithful companions life. As the stewards of our little life force we know how hard it is to say farewell and we appreciated the support and help from the teams.

Do not go here for urgent care. It is not a true urgent care facility. They informed me to make an appointment for 6 days later for a serious infection. They may have decent vets but treat this like a regular clinic, not urgent care.

My dog took a tumble getting out of our truck and hurt her shoulder. Brought her for a check up and she was nervous, but the whole visit was calming and reassuring from start to visit. No issue getting a Saturday appointment.

I had recently gotten a new puppy, and she was showing some signs that she wasn't feeling well, it wasn't an emergency but it was something I wanted to deal with before it got to that point. All the vets in HRM weren't able to get me in and I was told emerg vet wait would be several hours. Penhorn vet staff managed to get me in the same day, hours before closing to get my pup checked out. The staff were friendly, courteous and made the experience so much better. Not to mention we didn't feel rushed at all despite being minutes away from them closing by the time our appointment was ending. Im thankful for and would highly recommend supporting Penhorn Animal Hospital!

I wasn't able to get in to my own vet so they suggest I try calling Penhorn. I was able to get a next-day appointment for my puppy's eye infection. The reception staff was excellent, and the care my puppy received from the veterinarian was wonderful, she seemed genuinely happy to be taking care of my dog. Very reasonable treatment plan and asked me to call in a few days later if he wasn't getting better for a different Rx which thankfully we didn't need. Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful experience at the Animal Hospital today. The kind staff was welcoming and punctual. Treated us like long time clients, despite it being our first visit. Happy to have more access to urgent care when our pets need it. We'll be returning next time our pets need it.

I took my dog Lily in to see dr. Keizer, I couldn’t be happier with the vet care I received. She is extremely kind and thorough. My dog hasn’t liked a vet until now. The other staff are great too:) they got me in urgently when no other clinic would.

Highly recommend!

My baby Rat Roy was sick and the staff there took him in within an hour of me calling. Everyone there was so amazing and able to fit the little guy in very quickly.

Just got back from a visit with my roommate's cat who was bleeding from a small bite. The staff were amazing and provided us with fantastic same day service. Tucker is feeling better already thanks to this clinic!

Not sure what we would do without this new vet as most of the veterinarians have month long wait times. I brought my senior dog there last week and Dr. KIEZER couldn't have been more pleasant. I would not hesitate to bring any of my dogs to this veterinarian.

Today i had to put one of my cats to sleep.not the first time i've had to get a cat put to sleep but this vet was definitely the most compassionate, caring, and sweet vet i've dealt with.thank you for making losing my baby easier for me

I’m not rating the vet here since my cat did not get treated at this place. However, the 1* rating is because of the receptionist who answered my call. My regular vet recommended this place as they were all booked up. I called and explained how my cat is showing signs of a UTI. The person on the call was quick to assume he has a blockage and needs to go to the ER. Called ER who said if my cat is peeing, there’s no blockage. Called this place again and they completely dismissed it, were rude and sarcastic, laughed at me and refused to book him in even though I shared how my cat was in a very uncomfortable and painful situation. Your staffs build your reputation, if they can’t be respectful and helpful, then it’s a shame. Again, I’m sure the vet is great based on the amazing reviews solely but sadly your staff did not pass the vibe check.

PS: Persisted and brought him to the ER at Metro where they confirmed he has no blockage but an infection/inflammation and is in an uncomfortable situation.

We have two geriatric cats with health issues and Penhorn Animal Hospital has given us incredible support and feline healthcare. Over the years, we've been very fortunate to find good healthcare providers for our cats. But the veterinarians at Penhorn have gone above and beyond.

My husband and I brought one of our greyhounds to Penhorn Animal Hospital last night when he was unable to bear weight on his front left leg suddenly. I called in the morning and had an appointment later on that day. They were very accommodating and allowed us to bring his bed into the clinic and let him rest in one of the exam rooms while we waited for the vet. The ladies out front were lovely and chatted with us while we waited and were nothing but sweet and supportive.

They allocate an hour (I believe) to an appointment, so there's no feeling of being rushed and they let us relax by ourselves in the exam room while Nandor, our pup, was being x-rayed out back. When he was done, they allowed us to go to the back of the clinic to view the x-rays and discuss further, which I thought was a nice gesture (it's also very spacious and quite impressive back there!).

Thankfully, it wasn't osteosarcoma and we were able to bring our boy home last night. He is faring well today after some rest and taking the pain meds they sent us home with. The staff at the clinic were so gentle with him and I am so grateful for their help when we feared the worst. Everyone was super understanding and compassionate.

It's also a nice touch that they will email the radiographs and instructions to you after so you have them for your own records and they also forward everything to your family vet. They are a great clinic and I wouldn't hesitate to call again in the future.
