The service was great. The mussels were awesome. But then the main course came. The fish was all batter and burnt. The clams were all batter and just a small piece of a clam. They basically are charging 28 dollars for batter. I will not be returning to this restaurant nor will I be recommending it to anyone. Very bad experience!

Took 20mins to see the server after seated on a weekday. I didn’t mind the wait time but when they brought this dirty glass to the table, I couldn’t convince myself to stay here.

Do not get the smoked meat sandwich - horrible. Also the fish in the fish and chips is way too greasy.

Not a good experience. Went for a special occasion as we had family visiting Halifax. We waited 55 minutes for our food and it wasn’t busy at all. During our wait we saw a mouse scurry across the floor (no big deal we get it they’re on the water) but we giggled about it. Waitress finally came over and said “yeah I know there’s mice did you want to move tables? ”. No apology for the wait or the mice. Just seemed a bit dismissive. Then the food was alright but some dishes were cold. Wouldn’t go back

Comfortable atmosphere and picturesque location but the fried dishes were over battered and over cooked.

Excellent Food. I tried the Homemade Pappardelle with seafood and it was AMAZING! And this is coming from Italian! Also tried the Seafood Chowder and same comment: delicious. The bartender and waitress were really nice and with good advices. Recommend this place!

Delicious food and drinks, great service. Would go here again if I didn’t have to be trapped in the Purdy’s Wharf parkade for 30 minutes when trying to leave

Staff are friendly, food is good. Accessibility wise, they do okay, and I especially appreciate it as a wheelchair user that the baby changing table is not in the accessible stall, as this can cause issues with navigating the washroom in my chair. Nice atmosphere. Would go here again.

Take Gahan, obfuscate the brand (but only kinda, menu formatting is identical to Gahan), make the food worse, but the views better. Gahan beer is always good though.

We came here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon around 1: 30pm.we were here for over 2 hours.we ordered a calamari to share and my daughters meal, that took nearly an hour to come to the table.we had to flag our server Nathan down for everything.including ordering our mains which took another 45 minutes. We ordered a couple oysters, when brought out he asked if we wanted sauces which we happily said yes too! That was well over 10 minutes and we ate the oysters without as how long do you leave them just sitting in the sun.ordered lemon water.lemon forgotten, ordered Gravy with my meal, also forgotten. After everything was done and we were paying I said it was quite the wait today and he just responded "what! That was quick" I was like it was over 2 hours.he's like oh ya that's not bad. 10/10 wouldn't reccomend coming here.if you have anything else you plan on doing that day.food was ok but not worth consuming that much of the day!

Service was slow, probably because they were short staffed. Food was OK, but nothing to write home about. Possibly because I have had family rave about the place I was expecting a stellar experience, but it was decent. I'd go back, but it's not one of my top picks in the city.

Stopped here with the family for dinner, we were told there would have been a 45 minute wait, but a group canceled and we were seated immediately. Clearly a popular spot, so we were lucky for sure. Food was fantastic, all 5 of us really enjoyed our meals. Server was great (Michael I think), solid beer selection, excellent view and nice atmosphere and some some pretty good music to boot. Would recommend for sure, but maybe call ahead or make a reservation if possible. I had the Halibut en Papilotte pictured below. Cheers!

The food was really good but our waiter ruined our visit with his lack of interest/effort. Two unfussy people on a not overly busy Friday night out for dinner and a couple of drinks and we felt like we were being a burden. We left as soon as we could, can't remember if we left a tip or not but it certainly wasn't earned.

Horrible, horrible service. We didn't even stay long. The waitress completely ignored us and then proceeded to answer the phone. After passing the phone to get manager she proceeded to walk away, completely ignoring us. (wow!) Her manager then chose to continue on the phone call and remain on the phone for 5 more minutes. We then proceeded to leave recognizing that this establishment doesn NOT treat all customers the same.

We experienced a lot of amazing restaurants during our trip in Halifax and across Nova Scotia including Cape Breton. All our experiences were fantastic. This was an exception. This restaurant service is at the bottom of the pile.

The backdrop of the harbour combined with the cool, contemporary lodge aesthetic provides the ultimate cozy atmosphere for a seafood dining experience unlike any other on the boardwalk. When the french fries are prepared with the care these are, you know you're in good hands. The fried fish was the perfect dish for this homecoming easterner newly back from Alberta, delivering on all points the exact ingredients that make a classic dish like fish & chips into a memorable evening. Great quantity and quality for the price. A Halifax staple of seafood cuisine.

Booked a table of 7 with 3 adults and 4 young kids and they told us 45 min.but could be up to an 1hr and 30 min. Waited the 1hr and 30 min and came back to find out they still had no idea when they could get us in and the young man who proclaimed to be the manager was rude and said he didn't care if we waited longer or not. They where busy and our tourist business was inconsequential to the vitality of there business. They don't care so my advice is go spend your money at a restaurant that does care about the customer.

Very slow service from the kitchen. Had really hot fish on cold chips. Not sure I'd recommend. Great location but not worth the cost.

We stopped by for some drinks and oysters. The drinks were very good. The oysters were very tasty and fresh. The food looked really good but we just did not have the time to stop and eat. The patio is nice as it is on the waterfront. The service was excellent too.

One party of 2 people in the restaurant, where only about 5 other groups had been sat. We asked for a table with a nice view and were sat directly in front of the kitchen, where all the staff had congregated. The excuse was that there were reservations, and there was apparently “no other seating available”. My view was literal gas tanks. There was no reason that at 3 pm, we couldn’t have had a better table to enjoy a drink. Very disappointed that we were not adequately taken care of.

Ultimately the food was great. But the waiter seemed to be having a rough day. Our reservation was for 12: 15 and they didn't have a table available right away. When our group was all seated it took forever to have our order taken. It took almost an hour more for our salads and chowder to come out. We weren't served until 2: 30. Apparently there was no manager onsite. The only thing brought to the table quickly was the bill. If you've got time to wait the food is really good but if you're in a hurry this isn't the place for you.

For the first time in Halifax, we were not pleased with the food at this restaurant. Our order was shrimp and scallops pasta dish and each plate was different. Husband got 4 shrimp and 2 scallops. Mine had only 3 shrimp and 2 scallops. The third plate had 4 shrimp and 3 scallops. Which has very little flavor because it was too spicy. Again not saying spicey on the menu along with too much cheese. Not at all impressed chef, try and watch out what you serving your customers.

A little pricey, but the service, food and especially the atmosphere on the patio overlooking the boardwalk and Harbour more than make up for it. Will definitely go back

Our hostess sat us at 5. We're reasonable people, but when a literal 30 minutes passed and the restaurant was at half capacity, we piped up after not getting any service. The young waiter stated "not my table", but seemed to be serving everyone around us. Ok, honest error. A waitress comes, hald heartedly apologized about them missing us, and proceeds to take out drink order. Here's where the fun really begins. We waited another hour for our food, got fed up and left. A 10 second check in could have saved them $200 in food. Also, carbonate your sodas.
Don't bother- many better options in the city. This place is actually an embarrassment.

Beautiful restaurant in the heart of downtown with waterfront seating. Our food was delicious! The baked Brie was to die for. Our server was amazing. She helped me find something to eat, keeping in mind I had a seafood allergy. Will visit again.

This was a delightful place.

We arrived at around 5: 30pm and were told it would be about an hour wait for food. This was something we had heard at another place and opted out of waiting. The difference? Pickford & Black offered to seat us while we waited. We each ordered a cocktail and placed our food order relatively quickly. Both cocktails were absolutely delicious. After around 50 minutes (and not being hassled after declining to order a 2nd drink each,), the food arrived. I had the crispy chicken sandwich. It's honestly one of the best I've ever had. I'd 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a place to eat along the boardwalk.

I ordered a meal size Creaser salad and it was very small for $15. The bacon bits in it pathetic. $6 for 5 shrimp added to it would have been fine had they been nice large shrimp. Nope small cocktail ones. I will not be going back.

Very cool venue, one of the best patios in Halifax.

It's quite busy so make sure to book a reservation. You may need to wait a while to get in without one.

Great food and service.

Wait staff informed us it would be a 20 min wait for food due to switch over, it was more like 45 min from time of order. Service was friendly and ultimately accommodating when we asked to move inside after the shade hit our table. Kids meal was a good size for the $ and our meals were alright. The whole experience was ok, not a favorite on the waterfront for us, but not the worst either.

Friend in from out of town, thought it'd be nice to take him here. Waited over 10 mins for service by the water, another waitress felt bad and took our drink order, no water, nothing. My drink (Caesar) was an inferno! Apparently they either didn't care or felt spiteful when I ordered a medium. Once our waitress showed up, no apologies or any F's given by her. Just got bill and went across to saltys where service was A1 and we are going to spend lots!

I really wanted to love this spot but the food took a long time to arrive and we ordered salad and the seafood charcuterie plate. The service was fantastic and the waitress was great. Three stars - one for the service, one for the location and one for the decor.

It's definitely the nicest patio in the city and the service is fantastic. I think it was one of the best lobster rolls I've had in the city. Definitely recommend:)

Stopped in for drinks and a few appetizers (the chowder, steamed muscles, and calamari). In my opinion the patio is the best in the city and its great to sit right by the water on a hot day. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. I was really impressed and will return in a heart beat! I'll recommend it to other people looking for a great and nice place to eat. Overall, amazing staff, amazing drinks, and amazing food.

Service was extremely slow on a non-busy day, cocktails were not flavorful and the prices do not reflect the quality of food/drinks here; Over priced. Loved the recent updates to the decor but would of rathered an update to the management and the quality of food and drinks.

This place was had me leaving with stomach barely full and my wallet very empty. We went here thinking it was still the graham house but to surprise it was something new! Okay cool let’s try this new place, now to start things off it seemed busy so I expected to wait for seating. Not only did she go outside only to check if there was seating 4 other girls kept asking us if we’d been served over and over again. Finally the girl comes back and says there’s none outside (we didn’t care we just wanted a table) and then she goes back to find seating and the same process starts over, finally we get seated and we were pleased. This place is beautiful and the options seemed alright, the prices were high for somethings and ridiculous for other things we got after ordering. Now comes the fun part (lol) we waited not 30 min not 1 hour but almost 2 hours for 3 fish and chips, a vegetarian bowl with chicken and some calamari. We were already in a rush to get somewhere and this did not help. We waved down the server and he apologized and was honestly very empathetic but had no control over the situation. He gave us a 5-10 minute window for our food and 30 min later we get half our food. My boyfriend ordered scallops and they were 14$ we expect at least 6 but alas we had 3 tiny scallops that were dry as hell. My chicken was hard, the fish was tasteless and the calamari was deep fried from frozen not fresh as advertised. Now again the server tried and gave us all our first round drinks for free which was generous. All in all beautiful place horrible service and will not be returning sorry guys.

This place was pretty good, best patio I've been on in the city. Good drinks, good food, good location. Recommended to anyone.

Had the worst service out of any restaurant we’ve been to in Halifax. Food didn’t meet expectations. Shrimp salad was disappointing. Only came with 3 smaller shrimp.

The Pickford & Black side Patio bar has to one of the most bustling part of the harbor. The atmosphere is only matched by its service, and quality of drinks. The bartender Kenny was incredibly warm and the server was remarkably personable. This is your day time secret spot.
