What? I have to actually give this hotel a star? We are visiting for a family theatre event and selected Point Pleasant Lodge for its proximity to the train station and to the theatre. The first indication that we were in a totally new hotel experience was the lack of a front desk. We couldn’t figure out where to check in. We saw what we thought was one of those “business centres” with a young woman talking on the phone ignoring us completely and then clued in that this “might be” the front desk…. An actual kitchen table looking structure with lamp, in a dark corner with a woman and a telephone. Our spidey senses were tingling. It took her forever to figure out that we had two rooms booked for the four of us and after we patiently talked her through it all, we were shocked to discover that the hotel had already charged one of our cards with the full stay…before we had even checked in. Bad form! We discovered that the website for this hotel—that tells you about the beautiful restaurant is actually a scam — as their restaurant has not been open for over a year…as we discovered when we checked in. Our room has two very small double (?) beds…. No air conditioning or the ability to control the heat - as confirmed by the lady sitting at the kitchen table in the lobby after we had been up to the room and starting to melt from the heat—on a cool November night! There is nowhere to put your clothes. Great importance has been placed in providing a fridge…but no microwave, no coffee maker…and in the bathroom…no shampoo, no conditioner, no hair dryer…all those things you never pack because it’s always part of hotel hospitality. And NO Kleenex, which always pisses me off! I went down to the basement to get ice and was excited to see three vending machines…but as I got closer i realized that they were all empty and appeared to have been for a very long time. And the price we are paying for this no frills hotel stay? Well over $200/night. Thank goodness we didn’t have a vehicle as they were also quite happy to want to charge us $15/night for that too. The price to stay here is robbery at its finest. Definitely the worst hotel for hospitality and regular amenities I’ve stayed at. Room is clean though.

Stayed here while attending a conference at the convention center, a 20 minute walk away.

The hotel was clean but only basic amenities. The wifi was strong enough for work video calls. Staff were pleasant and quick to help when required. No coffee machine in the room but a nice coffee shop across the road.

I would recommend this to others unless you're looking for 4 or 5 star service.

My son and I stayed there for 1 night
Our room was very clean and bright.
Had a pull out couch and a double bed in it, bar fridge, also had TV.
There was no coffee machine or microwave in the room, but I had my own coffee with me and this mornings front desk lady lent me a kettle to heaven up water for me to make my coffee in our room
We checked in at 5: 30pm roughly and checked out the next morning at 8: 15am and both times the restaurant in the place was not opened.

But beyond that, very friendly front desk clerk (both morning and night), very quiet and accessible.

Big bonus for myself was, I could set the air-conditioner/heater to what I wanted, it wasn't pre-set or locked, which I absolutely loved.

Overall for our stay, I had absolutely no complaints for myself or my son.

There is not free parking as the website claims. It was $15 per night. Was told to park in spot 15 but someone was already in it so I parked in spot 18. Three hours later I was in the shower when my friend got a call from the front desk saying that I have to move my truck. I get out of the shower and hurry down stairs and outside, same car in my spot. I go back inside and tell them at reception that there is still a car in my spot so they ask where I am parked. I tell them spot 18 and they reply just stay there because there isn't anyone booked for that spot. I'm like what the hell was the problem then under my breath. There is no coffee maker, no microwave. It's the first place I have ever stayed that didn't have shampoo in the room. My friend was there for eye surgery from New Brunswick so 4 people stayed 2 nights with no sleep because the beds were small and uncomfortable. We stayed at the best western two weeks prior for 239 per night and it was a castle compared to this place for 300 per night. NEVER AGAIN! I promise. No plugins, no place to put your clothes so they don't wrinkle. Would have been more comfortable in a tent. My wife slept on the floor the first night and I slept in a chair the second night because the beds were too damned small for 2 adults to stay on the bed at a time.

For the price, it’s not worth it. No coffee maker, no little shampoos, plenty of snack machines but nothing in them. Have to pay for parking although it’s says free parking. No hair dryer, no microwave. No plug in, in the bath so have to get ready in the living area. 2 washer and dryers but 1 washer and dryer out of order.detergent to buy was out of order. The washer and dryer weren’t the cleanest. Don’t recommend

I forgot my key inside. Was locked out of the building. Even though the clerk watched me leave refused to let me back in and was snarky.

Booked 2 nights here in Halifax with my wife on our trip to the east coast. Newly renovated rooms looked really nice and bed was comfortable. Was very small space though. What was shocking is that they provided nothing for the amount that you paid for. No coffee, I had to leave the building for a cup of coffee. No soap, No microwave. Restaurant was closed all weekend. And worst part, no bloody parking. I was shocked. Was told I had to pay for it if there was a spot available. I was stuck parking a block away. Would’ve been nice to know that at the time of the booking. Also we had ocean view, well, not at all. Trees covered the view and I feel the description was very inaccurate. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend until they fix simple issues.

We have travelled to Halifax 2x this past year staying here. It is conveniently located just off Spring Garden Road so we can do a little shopping and window browsing, choose many places to eat within walking distance, visit the park, library, etc. Checking in has always been simple and with our sometimes unknown timeline of arriving and departing they have always accommodated us on short notice. The rooms are big enough for what we need, medical rate available. Walking in it is quaint and clean. When asking front desk for assistance they are always eager to help and actually have gone above and beyond in helping us locate places and give us suggestions. The cleaning staff are lovely. I will always return.

ID GIVE THIS PLACE 0 STARS IF I COULD. NOT ONLY IS THEIR WASHER AND DRYER FULL OF MOLD AND HAIR, THEY HAVE NO AMMENTIES WHATS SO EVER, NO PLACE TO SIT WHILE DOING LAUNDRY. YET THEY HAVE A $2000 TABLE JUST FOR DECOR AND $300 LIGHTS OVER CHAIRS IN THE LOBBY. If they had spent even half the money on making sure rooms had even a coffee maker as they did their boujee lobby furniture then theyd be a step ahead.also WE GOT LOCKED OUT OF OUR BROKEN BATHROOM and the manager threw her hands in the air and said "nothing I can do about it and I have no other rooms for you". Mind you we were here to have a sick child born at the IWK. I was 8 months pregnant. (They did eventually call a lock smith as I had over $100 in supplies in the bathroom). The heat and fan kick out after ten minutes. The cleaning lady does the bare minimum of adding towels and taking trash. Doesnt sweep or vaccume or clean Anything during your week long stay. Even when asked to, she half swept and left dirt ALL OVER. My 6 year old cleans better. Flash forward to today, I was pulled for an emergency c section for my baby, and they call and tell us we are being kicked out as the company is no longer covering the room. Given a total of a 30 minute warning. And then told if we needed even an additional HOUR they'd charge is $54 for that hour! Knowing I am in the hospital cut open and knowing my husband has to take MULTIPLE cab trips to get everything out. This hotel was by far the WORST establishment I have EVER Encountered. And I will not rest until they have lost their patient housing contract completely! I am not the only one who is upset with this. Thankfully the amazing IWK staff is behind us 100% on this one.

This place deserves NEGATIVE STARS!
Not worth $20 night let alone $200

Pictures below to show the ridiculous lobby and DISGUSTING broken down everything else.

Could have been more amenities, but super clean and quiet, had a great sleep before surgery

Good rooms for the price, Although the front desk looks like a Walmart kitchen table and the elevators are a little funky it’s a pretty good deal!

Don't accept cash, worse place in the city. Some people like myself don't believe in plastic. Myself and my companion and to stay on the street. Your options need to be changed. I give you a terrible rating
