Porters Lake Family Eatery & Pub

I am new to the area and tonight was my first time coming to the pub. Service was a bit slow but I understand they have an event going on later this evening and all the severs I spoke with were very nice. The steak I ordered was cooked like I asked but it was covered in alot of chard burnt lines. It wasn't the most flavourful of steaks, it could use some seasoning. I ordered poutine and expected handcut fries but was served frozen fries. No big deal just wasn't as expected. The highlights of the meal for me were the gravy and the cheesecake. I will be back to try some more of their popular items. But the cheesecake was 10 outa 10. Overall I would give this meal a 2.5 out of 5 stars but I will give it another try:)

Always bumpin’ & the staff are wicked. Fun spot to bring out of town guests, especially on Thursday nights for music & wings. My favourite is the deep fried pickles! The fish, potato skins & burgers are always great too. Cool decor.

Better food than usual for a pub, and they will make substitutions and modifications for you if you have allergies.

Very clean looking. Not the old pub tho was always a lot of fun but pretty quiet these days for those wanting a quiet bar feel. Foods good too

Enjoyed a meal with friends here and the service was great. Had nachos as appetizer and fish and chips for meal. Both were great.

Sunday, Oct. 9th. Porterslakes Pub web page showed open. Serving until 8pm. I was home from the hospital on a day pass. My son, cousin and I planned on ordering take out. Called but the phone was busy. Drove up to porterslake and they were closed. Usually, under normal circumstances I would have gone else where but, I needed to return to the hospital. We simply went without food. It was sad all around. Too much work or expense to update their website? I notice today they are open or are they?

Very popular pub with locals and I can see why - really good burgers at decent prices. Added bonus is having a live band play during dinner.

I got potato skins I asked for an extra sour cream in place of the bacon I didn’t want on them so that means I literally just cheese. When given the bill I was charged for two extra sour creams at $1 each. We also ordered 2 Philly steak sandwiches and fries and both sandwiches were very dry. To top it off there was a charge for takeout $1 but there was no actual takeout items in the bag that were necessary to eat the meal like ketchup or forks knives or napkins… I think room for improvement where take out is concerned.

Great food, waiter was very friendly and service was quick, we both had the pan fried haddock! Went back twice during our vacation!

Food was good, average pub food. It was busy there this evening, for that reason our waitress apologized for being a little stressed/anxious. There was a mistake with my order (they took it back and fixed it without any hesitation) and they forgot my husband's order altogether. There were 5 of us dining in total, no one else had any issues with their meals. Although, my MIL had to ask 3 times for a glass of water.

It's our home town pub. Service is always friendly and fast and they go the extra mile to keep you happy!

A group of 12 of us showed up on a Saturday evening and the staff there were awesome! Very accommodating. Our waiter, are real cool guy, kept checking in on us to see what we wanted. Appetizers were tasty and the food was quick. It's a pub! They serve pub food with good size servings. For me service is just as important as the food and our waiter came through.

Great local pub fare and friendly service with a good choice of beers on tap, definitely a place to recommend for traditional pub food.

We love the Porter's Lake Pub. Staff is always awesome and it's a great pub atmosphere. We have a two year old and always feel welcome and accommodated. We have been for brunch, lunch and supper. Food is consistent classic pub fare. Portions are large and price is reasonable.

Great atmosphere and everyone loved their meals! I had the steak sandwich. It was very good. If you have a chance to go. Its worth it for sure.

My mom & I went here last night, arrived around 6: 45 pm. There was a line of about 6 people ahead of us waiting to get in. We waited patiently and were seated around 7: 10 pm. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes to get menus, and another 25 minutes for someone to take our order and get our drinks. The place was packed and our server told us they had x-rated bingo starting at 9 pm (which we thought was very neat!).

We waited about 45 minutes for our food to come, in the meantime the pub was filling up at an alarming rate. Staff were busy adding collapsible tables so they could sell more entry tickets. By 8: 15 or so, we received our meals (which were fresh, hot, and delicious!), and there was a line of people for bingo that spanned out the door and into the parking lot. There was maybe 5 free seats, plus our seats and a large booth that was not planning to stay.

Within 10 minutes of receiving our meal, three separate staff members approached us and asked if we were planning to stay. The third person said, "not trying to rush you but this is a closed event. " We told all of the people that we were not staying but had just gotten our food. By 8: 30 pm, we had been asked if we're staying by 5 separate people, frustrated and rushed, we scarfed down our meals and asked for the bill.

After we asked for the bill, several staff members proceeded to randomly "pop by" our table over the span of 10 minutes and ask if there's anything else we need - we asked for the bill to about 3 different staff, all of which never brought the bill. Finally, we expressed our frustrated with a man who seemed to be on the management team. Eventually someone came by and asked who our server was (she never introduced herself and didn't have a name tag). The hostess gave us our bill (not split like we asked) and quickly disappeared. About 5 minutes later, our server comes by and splits our bills then prepares for one of us to pay and disappears. I finished paying and we waited another 5 minutes until someone else came by and asked if we needed anything else. We said, we just wanted to pay and leave. They tracked down our server who prepared for my mom's payment while yelling across the pub, "don't worry, they're leaving now. "

As we left, I turned to the man who appeared to be management and stated that, "this may be a fire hazard, " as they had been haphazardly putting up collapsible tables to the point that you could hardly walk through the space to the washroom. Not to mention the people standing in the doorways blocking the exit. He proceeded to scream at me about the number of people they currently have versus their fire capacity number while wagging his finger at me.

I wanted to give this two stars because food was very tasty but this was absolutely the most horrific service I have ever received. If you go, and I don't mean to discourage a visit here, make sure to check whether there is an event planned because the organization of their events is poor at best.
