It was our first time visiting Halifax. My girlfriend and I were having trouble finding a good italian restaurant. We stumbled on this one, and we were NOT disappointed. We were greeted by the owner at the entrance who sat us down and took our coats. I wasn’t too sure what to eat myself, as the owner proposed different options. I then asked him to surprise me, and he did. Food was fantastic! I had an appetizer of octopus which was so flavourful and my main course was swordfish with risotto. My girlfriend had the gnocchi which tasted very freshly made. Overall excellent experience, 10/10 recommend.

Ragazzi is a hidden gem of Halifax with attentive service and amazing food and cocktails. I wish I knew about it sooner.

Honestly a very weird experience overall.
To start with the good - our server was wonderful. A young blonde girl who said she was newer. The food was pretty decent as well.
The bad/odd - it was super dark. To the point I could barely read the menu. I work in a bar so I realize it’s about setting ambiance, but maybe have a bigger light on the table than a tiny tea light or have the font on the menu in black instead of yellow on a white background. I can’t imagine reading the menu if I was someone with bad eyesight. Most of the staff all appeared super confused. The bartenders had no idea what they were making or doing. I ordered an espresso martini (their menu states grey goose and khalua, but it definitely wasn’t grey goose and there appeared to be baileys in it too). My husbands gin mule didn’t taste like there was any gin in it at all. We watched the bartenders look around confused pretty much the entire time which felt like watching an episode of kitchen nightmares. The host awkwardly kept wandering around but not actually doing anything. And the GM or owner kept coming up to our table and asking us things that our server had already asked us as if our server wasn’t doing a good enough job. She did amazing by the way and it felt very awkward to have a second person constantly checking on us when we were fine. Honestly just felt like a super awkward experience and just felt the need to leave a review as we came here based on good reviews and now I question how real all those reviews are from how chaotic and weird it felt in there.

Extremely friendly service even when we came in before it opened they served us with open arms and the food was delicious and fresh 10/10 would recommend to anyone

Thought this Italian restaurant would be a nice experience. The restaurant smelled of cigarettes and was cold and drafty. There were plenty of staff but no one came to greet us right away. The whole place was dark with horrible lighting, a candle was provided on the table but it was out, and the hosts forgot to give us menus. The food was ok, but my whiskey sour was definitely made improperly without egg whites. To top it off we could hear the owner yelling at staff Infront of customers! Giving this place a one star because the food was ok.

One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever eaten at, and the staff and owner were so kind and welcoming to our young kids.

Bizarre experience. Where to begin. When we first entered we noticed a few things. One, it was super dark in the restaurant (our candle was only lit by a single tea light). Two, it was cold, like turn on the heat cold (I was shivering by the end of the meal). And Three, there were a ton of staff milling around but no other customers at 6: 30. Our waitress greeted us, and after five minutes of waiting, she was told to give us menus. It only went downhill from there.

We ordered the penne alla vodka and the mushroom ravioli, with a caesar salad to start. I ordered the sangria to drink, but it was very sweet (more juice than wine), something recommended by our server; not knowing at the time that she was new, it doesn’t make sense for her to make recommendations like that because she had no idea what was good, popular, etc.

While we waited we listened to what sounded like Latin music, which we found strange considering Ragazzi is an Italian restaurant. The caesar salad was very tasty but small, and there was a decent wait time before we received our main course. When the food finally arrived, we received a mushroom risotto instead of the ravioli.

It was at this point we were told that it was her first day, but as the meal continued we had a feeling that most of the staff were new or in-training as well, which most likely contributed to their severe lack of communication and awkwardness. The staff were also insistent on constantly refilling our waters, which was nice at first but became increasingly awkward, since staff were always hovering around our tables.

We waited around 10 or so minutes for the ravioli (which was delicious) and by the time it came to the table, the penne was long done, so we just watched each other eat dinner. To apologize for the inconvenience the owner offered free dessert. A different waitress brought us each dessert menus, and we each ordered a separate dessert (the affogato, the tiramisu, and the lava cake; 3 in-total). After another ten minutes of waiting, the owner returned with a single apple crisp.

All we could do was laugh by this point, eat our dessert as fast as possible, thank the lovely waitress who actually knew what she was doing and get out of there! She was a different member of the staff, who offered to make the desserts we ordered to-go, and she profusely apologized for the whole night upon our departure. All in all it was a totally bizarre experience, and while the food tasted good, we won’t be returning for obvious reasons.

My friend and I have been trying to find an authentic Italian restaurant and this is it! The owner is delightful and very welcoming and the waitress we had was wonderful as well! I ordered the gnocchi and it was packed with flavour and a big serving! Their tiramisu is also pretty big and was so fluffy! The atmosphere is cozy as well, the perfect place to bring a date or friends!

Had a lovely date night here with top of the notch service from the owner Leo. The atmosphere is very cozy and they even have live music on Mondays!

The gnocchi is to die for and you can’t go wrong with the focaccia as an appetizer with their house made Tuscan oil.

Amazing food! Best Italian I've had in the town. The staff members were just so welcoming and the owners are extremely cordial and humble. Will definitely frequent the place!

Walked into this place by chance and was pleanstly surprised! Very warm welcome from the staff and great service. The food was delicious as well - don't leave without trying the house made focaccia! I don't often leave reviews but I want to see this place do well so I can visit the next time I'm in town.

My food was partly cooked, was so hungry to get raw food. Will never recommend to anyone ever

Absolutely fantastic place! Prefect for any occasion, date night, live music, big families and now even some fun karaoke. The atmosphere is so prefect, the service is a next level experience, delicious drinks and well the food…. Excellent Italian with just the right amount of all the beautiful seafood Halifax has to offer! The owner/ front service Leo is just a great guy only happy when your time there is amazing indulgence of your senses!
Highly recommend for a great night out!

First visit was on March 24,2023 and had an aperol soritz and gnocchi. The gnocchi was perhaps the best I have ever consumed anywhere in the world and have had this dish in multiple locales and in highly rated restaurants. The staff were fabulous as well.

We arrived on a Monday evening. We were sat at a table in a fairly empty restaurant (3 other tables) only to be ignored for 45 minutes while all other tables were served. No drink orders taken, no apology. When we left due to no service we were thanked.

Really unfortunate service as we were out for a date night and really wanted to enjoy the food.

My new favourite Italian restaurant. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, the servers were attentive and friendly (including I believe the owner). We felt very welcome and immediately wanted to come back again. Best of all it was an excellent value for money - definitely recommend.

Very nice place. I haven't eaten such food in a long time. The dishes are not as big, however they are perfectly balanced to have a pleasant fullness after them. If you're going there for Italian food, you will definitely have tge best of it there. The owner and servers were very hostile to us.
