Rainbow Nails

DO NOT COME HERE FOR ACRYLIC NAILS.

This is a warning. They do not apply acrylic nails well, they have no idea what they're doing, and any requests you make, they say they can't do (because they only have temporary certificates to practice - check the wall) or go unheard of. I made multiple requests to the guy, he just nodded his head and chuckled but didn't do them, even after repeating.

When I asked for them to fix it, they gave me a lot of attitude. They should take responsibility for messing up. It's not the customers fault they hired unskilled workers.

Finally, I suspect they are using the BANNED and ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE MMA for acrylic nails. I could not get the nails off with 100% acetone after MULTIPLE SOAKS. This SHOULD NOT happen if they are using EMA!

They also must be aware of this, if you check previous reviews mentioning acrylic removals, they go straight to prying it off your nail and don't bother soaking. They know they're using MMA and they don't care.

The team was adaptable and efficient. My mother and I were walk-ins, and they were very happy to accommodate us even though they were full. Getting pampered is always fun. The prices were fair. My only thought (personal preference) is to brighten the lighting as it seems very dark. Love seeing the team smile as they help customers, being that I know the tasks are not always glamorous.

Worst experience ever.they dont care about customer’s demand or their customer service. While buffering the guy injured my 4 finger's and it bleeded so damn much.after 2 hours it still is.the guy didn't even apologized for it or did anything about it.worst nail shop.

Went in for acrylic removal. She first cut them which I didn’t want and then started prying them off with an acrylic tip before soaking them for any length of time. I asked her to stop a few times. My natural nails are now a mess. I’ll never go back.

I hated the whole experience start to finish, I asked for acrylic nails, she ended up ripping one of my nail off. She charged me 85$ while I was told it would be 55$ plus tax while I was getting them done. The entire process was really painful, and so not worth it. I had to ask her multiple times, to file and fill in properly.
If I’d known earlier I wouldn’t have gone to this place.

Don’t go there to get shellac removed. Used one of those grinding machines which totally messed up my nails and made them all break. Shellac should be removed with tinfoil. Also cut a cuticle on my thumb. The person was aggressive and not careful. My nails are in awful shape now and embarrassed to go to my usual place. Don’t go here. You’ll regret it.

A lady said she would ask one of her staff to fix my broken nail and then they all argued and hid out back. I waited 20 mins just for her to tell me nobody wanted to do it

It's been 2 weeks since my appointment. My nails are already getting caught on clothing and hair.no, no, not from the tip; the cuticle! 2 weeks! The guy did not listen I wanted. And I was charged $80!? I showed him a picture and everything.didn't listen and did his own thing. After I told him it's not what I wanted, he wasted another 20 minutes of my time. Never again

I didn't experience this kind of service i didn't get nails as I wanted because she was in hurry. It was their closing time but if you can't do it then don't accept customers near to closing time. Tell them that it took time to do it properly so that they can book an appointment another time. But don't waste their time and money for your own business.

Very aggressive application, hands are still sore from her scraping me with her nails and filing so close to my skin. When asked if they’d clean them up since the shapes weren’t done well, they agreed. The lady working at the front was very nice about the whole situation but I would not return, if I’m paying 80 dollars to get my nails done, I’d want it to be an enjoyable relaxing experience. As well as the fact that their prices told me that it’d be at most 60 dollars, not 80

After reading the reviews i wasn’t sure if i will come to this place. But i tried it and my experience was amazing! There was a confusion at first because i told them the wrong service but eventually got what i wanted for my nails and there was no issue changing my service. Everyone was nice and very accommodating. The owner did my acrylics and was chatting with me and making sure i like my nails.i kept looking at my nails but that’s because i was admiring how beautiful the work is. And price is very reasonable and affordable. I was very satisfied with the service and will definitely come back again for refill. Not sure what happened with the other bad reviews but you should try it for yourself to see.

I asked for acrylic and received shellac. I am a first timer to having my nails done but my niece was with me who is very experienced. She told the technician what to give me and I repeated again when asked. My niece finished before me and left so didn’t see the process I was undergoing. A service was given that I did not ask for or was asked to do and rather than deal with it professionally, I was met with ignorance by a man who was not even present when conversation happened. He was extremely rude and unnecessarily aggressive with his attitude, tone, and body language! Theresa was calm and nice but tried negotiating rather than accept this was an error made on the technician’s end. The young lady tried to be helpful but seemed to have her hands tied. I ultimately paid for what I asked and not what was given (more money, of course) This was a HORRIBLE first time experience and I most definitely will not returning!

This is the only nail salon I trust in Halifax! I moved from Alberta and am so happy to have found this place. It’s clean, and all the staff are super friendly and talented. Lulu is the best!

I’m not sure why all the bad reviews, I received the best set of acrylics I’ve ever gotten! The service was excellent and reasonably priced. I will definitely be making this place my new go-to!

Yesterday September 1st around 6: 15PM, I walked into this nail salon to get my nails done. I acknowledge that I didn't need to book an appointment so I went there. Once I got there, a staff there (male) asked me what I wanted I said shellac, I said I didn't book appointment but wondered if they could squeeze me in. He looked me with disgust and said no they were busy. While I was standing there trying to figure out what I should done, two white ladies walked in and said they wanted their nails done and they didnt have any appointment. This man had a big smile on his face and told them to come in and sit down. I was standing there with shock and humiliation on my face. Being black is really hard tbh. Posting this review so others would read what type of treatment I received there because I am black

The customer service is good and the people are welcoming, the wait time is not to bad but it depends on the day, overall a good place to get your nails and other stuff done:)

I got the full set of acrylic nails last time i got charged 75$. For the same thing they charged me 92$ this time. Even i told them about the price difference still he said oh you got two stones on it. I mean just for few stones you are charging me $17 extraa.will not going back ever again. They are overpricing which is not good at all.

Disappointed with service. I attended with three other family members for pedicures and two manicures. The water was cool and I had to ask to have the jets turned on. It was my grand niece's first experience and she was reaching with her feet. It wasn't until the very end that a staff member pressed the chair and moved it forward to make it less of a reach for her. I do not think it was good value for the services we received. We were advised that there was a senior's rate, but it did not appear that we received one. Staff were difficult to understand as English was not their first language and hence the bill was confusing.

The gentleman that did my pedicure was a perfectionist. I was surprised at how particular he was… love my toes. I will be back for sure!

I came here to get my acrylics removed and for a manicure. The guy had no idea what he was doing. He was told to just cut the nails and rip the remaining on the nails itself using a nail tip (I think it was the owner/manager who was explaining him what to do). They literally pulled up one side, slid an acrylic tip underneath as a “tool” and just slid the tip underneath the acrylic and my nail and jammed it in between until they separated. It was very painful and tore the top layer of a few nails. I asked him there has to be a better way and to try something else and to maybe use acetone (it was my 1st time I got acrylics done and so I had very little idea of the removal process except I did watch a video few days before). He brought acetone and I kept rotating my hands, dipping one hand while he worked on the other. Then he filed my nails too thin with the nail drill. I thought the worst part was over. But then the 'manicure' part wasn't good too. My nails had become so thin and he started using the cuticle pusher all over the nails and it wasn't gentle. He was basically scrapping the nail instead of pushing the cuticle.it was so painful I had to get up or sit back for a bit several times considering ending the service. The acrylic removal process took about an hour and I was pretty disappointed and felt like I have got my nails pretty damaged and wanted to end the service. The owner/Manager said that it is 'fine' and I should get my nails pained and then they'll "look pretty" and also said something about a discount (which I didn't receive). After this my nail tech was changed to lady who was nice and gentle. The whole process took almost 2 hours. Very bad service.

Since I am going on vacation, I thought I would treat myself to a pedicure and manicure. The experience was very disappointing. The lady doing my feet rushed through the procedure. Although I was the last person seated, I was finished first. It probably took about ten minutes. I had wanted the cuticles on my fingers cleaned up and my nails shaped with some colour. She cut my nails below my finger tips so that it actually hurts now to touch things. My nails looked considerably better when I came in! Fifty seven dollars for ugly looking nails. I will never return.

I had gel nails done. The gel was put on so thick that it took over an hour and a half to remove them using pure acetone and a dremel tool. I’ve had gel nails done many times and have never had such a hard time getting it off. Never again

I have gone here for years. I am so sorry to say it’s twice now where my nails have been so rushed they look terrible. Polish and glue stuck to the sides. I’ve had to pay extra to have them fixed somewhere else. Sorry to say you lost my business.

Nail tech was way too rough it was almost unbearable, I left bleeding on 5/10 of my fingers. Spent $85 even after I said I was cut/bleeding. Better off going somewhere else.

They were great love my nails and my feet feel awesome. They are always so nice and make sure you like your nails along the way, all the girls are great.

Girl the staff is rude as hell! The place had roaches running around everywhere too, just nasty and dirty

My daughter wanted to get acrylic nails for her 16th birthday, but we couldn't get to her usual nail place (TA Nails, they always do an amazing job) so we thought we would try this place. I obviously should have read the reviews beforehand. To note, she's had her nails done multiple places in the past, and a few different ones at that. There have been times she hasn't liked them, but never to the point we went back to the nail salon for it. The tech who did her nails actually burned her skin, and her nails are still sore from it hours after. The job itself was extremely sloppy, there was paint left around the nails and on her fingers, the nails were different lengths and uneven, they weren't filled properly and were very thin. It was simply embarrassing, and for $75, completely ridiculous. After calling about it we went in to figure out a solution - they normally don't offer refunds and I understand that policy BUT it wasn't like she was simply unhappy with them, they were absolutely terribly done and looked like a 5 year old did them. We were told they did a bad job because she wanted them long, which if you can't do long nails, fine, but just say that before you actually try to DO them. Excuses, really. Finally, after 15 minutes of arguing and ridiculous offers we received the refund, which was great but it shouldn't have been such an issue with the obvious state of her nails. They also wanted to charge $20 out of the refund to remove the nails which to me, was absurd, so my daughter clipped them off herself. The woman working the desk was very nice and tried her best to help us out. And like I said, I understand the policy of no refunds but believe it should be on a case by case basis because I shouldn't have to argue with you over such a horrible job done when it's extremely obvious. But clearly the no refunds is in place because this happens so often.

First of all this place is super overpriced. My friend and I went and they broke her natural nail and tried to fix it with gel. It's been 7 days since we had our nails done and her nail broke already. I had a full set done which cost about $91. The lady made my nail bed bleed and the nails aren't shaped consistently

Horrible experience!
Unprofessional people are working there. It took me over 2 hours to get my nails done. My best friend was with me and they do not have any sitting arrangement instead of that: -one of the girl said to my friend to leave the place and said once your friend ‘s nails done she could call you to come, which was terrible!
Do not go there! It is a waste of time

Just wanna say it was really unpleasant experience, rude staff and didn’t wanted to fix my nails and said they’re all booked. But on phone they asked to come as they will arrange the time for me. Never recommend this place. Save your money and go somewhere else

I had a wonderful experience here! Ivy was fantastic at doing my pedicure - very professional and personable. The colour choices are UNREAL, one of the best selections I’ve seen for shellac. 5 stars for sure. Very happy:)

Booked an appointment in person last week to begin my birthday with a little pampering. Arrived this morning to be told there was no record of my appointment and tried to blame it on booking online. When I told the woman I booked in person she was very dismissive and said it wasn't in the book so too bad. She started walking away from the desk and said they could call if something opened but otherwise implied it wasn't her problem. I told her not to bother and booked elsewhere for later in the week. I received a call an hour and a half later asking if I was coming for a pedicure. I told the girl calling (definitely different from original woman) what had happened and that the woman was rude and dismissive. She at least tried to offer an apology for what happened but they will not have my business again.

Absolutely trash service. Made me sit for 1 hour and a half just to tell me they can’t do it…. Ridiculous and unprofessional

The owner is very friendly and they have been very accommodating each time I have booked an appointment or just shown up. I have used various technicians and been satisfied with them all. I’m glad I found them.

Lulu from the Rainbow Nails was amazing. Neither did she did a great job, she's a great conversationalist too.

My go to spot for pedicures in the summer, fast and friendly service and the staff do such a great job!

The female staff did my nails how she wanted to do them and had the nerve to charge me $74.75 for acrylic it was too short and crooked none of the Nails matched they were rude talking in front of me not being satisfied with the fact that I asked for my nails to be longer and wider which I am the one paying so it should be to my satisfaction, and she made them extremely short and charged me for poor polish job you can see through it, color should be solid but you can see all holes all through it there’s bubbles all in the gel horrible I won’t be back not will I be advising anyone else to go there either. I’m disgusted in how these nails look and still can’t believe I paid $75.lesson learned

I will start by saying I’ve been to many nail salons in Halifax/ Dartmouth, today was my first visit to rainbow nails and this is my experience. I am a trained nail tech and like I see what other salons offer. My experience here was great, everyone was friendly and my nails turned out pretty good. First thing I noticed was they display their cosmetology licenses on the wall A+ for trained staff. The male doing my nails was very friendly and made sure I was happy with the shape of each nail, he asked multiple times if the length was good and if the shape was up to my standards. The shellac polish job was one of the best I’ve received from another salon. The only downfalls were that my cuticles were not pushed back or really touched and the marble nail I asked for on one hand looked a bit more like grey waves definitely could use a bit of practice with the marble design but overall this is a great salon and I definitely will be returning when I just don’t feel like doing them myself. I wish I got the employees name he was fantastic

Never ever waste your money for this place, find a better place to get your nails done.i got a worst nails at this place. Staff was so rude and didn't even listen to me. After i got nails, they didn't dried it well because they were in rush for other customers.

So i went again in the morning today, to get it fixed my nails.
The girl who did it was so nice but the owner charged me again which cost me total of $60.
For this cost i would have even got extensions from another place.
I would suggest everyone not to waste your money on such a place where the owner is so rude and instead of doing it in free, he charged me again.
It was my first time getting nails done, and they gave their first impression as a last.

Is this a party or a nail salon? So glad this place is in my neighborhood, I walked in on a Friday night and was amazed at how lively the place was. So much fun. I got my eyebrows done but I will be back for my nails with some girlfriends!

The girl that did my pedicure last week was the worst pedicure I have ever had. And the owner was even there and heard me trying to correct her and didn’t even care to help me. I will never go there again. And I would tell anyone not to waist their money getting a pedicure done there.

I went there today to get gel nails it was rushed i got glue on my hands my fingers have been hurting all evening and charged me 70$ for a $45 price i picked out of the booklet not happy i feel like i need to go to the doctors it hurts

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.would definitely not recommend this nail place whatsoever, staff did not listen, and were extremely rude. When respectfully telling them we were not happy with our nails and they were not what we had asked for we were told to leave and were told it wasn’t their fault and that if we want them taken off or fixed WE would have to pay. Definitely not worth it whatsoever, costumer service was the worst I’ve ever experienced.

Awful experience all around. Staff does not know when nail technicians schedule is, they will cancel on you hours before appointments, and overall just rude. I had an appointment with Anna and she called and told me she “will be sick the next day” to which I responded “you’re not sick today? ” And she went on to tell me she simply didn’t want to do my nails. They lie about being sick and plan their “sick” days in advance. I gave this place a chance a few times and they have not failed to disappoint.

They were fast efficient and very professional and did a lovely job on my nails thanks rainbow nails!

Worst nail salon. DO NOT COME HERE. Did an absolutely awful job and charged way over the price on the sheet, the workers were rude and rushed the nail work completely, so unhappy with my nails, the supply’s used are low quality and cheap, my acrylic nails are already looking horrible after only a couple days. Definitely don’t recommend.

Overall really bad experience. Came in excited to get new acrylics, was rudely moved from chair to chair while waiting and was told they’d get me in by 15 minutes, ended up waiting over an hour. My friend who had asked for blue and pink ombré was given ugly pink nails with French tip NOT WHAT SHE ASKED FOR.then after the girl didn’t ask her what shape or colours she’d like my friend complained she was told it was to late and it wasn’t the woman’s fault. When it was my turn I wasn’t asked what shape I wanted and the woman got mad at me for telling her I wanted almond and recut almond and were way to short, one hand being extremely shorter than the other and completely different shapes. We complained once and were told to leave, the second time we were told there was nothing they could do and that it was our fault. The costumer service was absolutely terrible, definitely won’t be coming back.

I literally got charged $46 for Acrylic nails that are so thin. I asked the lady why thin and she just said they are fine. Why was I charged $46? I asked the opinion of several other people who work in the nail tech industry and they said I would be paying $30 roughly to get a shellac polish so they don't break. I will not be recommending them again.

Genuinely one of the nicest staff ever. They greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome. They made me and my daughter feel so at home they even helped my daughter pick out her color and she's only two years old. They had to paint her nails twice because she kept smudging them but they were so sweet about it. They were quick but best of all my nails turned out beautiful!
I recently moved to Halifax and I've had a very hard time finding a salon that I like, I finally feel like I found!
I recommend this location if you are ever needing to look for a trustful and 10 star results.

Went to get my gel nails removed and she just took a thin piece of plastic (an acrylic nail base I think) and basically ripped them off of my fingers. It hurt so much and 2 days later my nails are still hurting. You can see that it ripped layers off of my nails and on my pinky finger it ripped it down to the skin. Won’t be going back.

No point in making an appointment, they always overbook so it will never be on time. And if your a walk in you get treated like an inconvenience.most of the nail techs are nice, but you can tell they are pressured to go faster rather then do a good job.

This place has the most awful customer service I’ve ever experienced! All the employees were beyond rude and made me sit with half done nails for 30 min while he just started taking walk ins! Very unprofessional and disrespectful. Then they proceeded to charge me 2X the price, and my nails looked awful! I paid 80 just to get the taken off not even a week later at a different location. Would not recommend wasting your time or money here!

This place was awesome! Very nice workers and they do an awesome job! They all speak English and keep it very professional.

Went in to fix a broken nail and got a refill and the Nail broke within 72 hours and not satisfied with the quality of their work.
